Just thought it'd be interesting to see which e-mail provider you guys use. If you can give details of your experience (good and bad), even better.

I've been using my main Yahoo account since I was 16, but there's been so many 'updates' lately that I decided to sign up for Gmail. Yahoo Classic was the best, imo, but Yahoo is trying to force me out of Classic...which is annoying. I've seen the 'new and improved' Yahoo - not impressed with the loading issues.

Hotmail - Spam is too ridiculous. I swear everyone gets hacked. I only use hotmail for MSN, which I hardly use now anyway.

AOL - My very first e-mail account at the age of 14. I don't remember much from it, but I remember getting excited whenever I heard, "You've Got Mail".

As for Gmail...I'm not very familiar with the service, but a few told me that it's simple at least. I'm hoping to make this my primary e-mail. (Family, friends, and school, mostly).
I suppose I'll leave Yahoo for various e-mail product offers, which I get quite a lot.

I was the same. I started with Yahoo but the updates got really annoying and I got way too much spam so I shifted to Gmail which was much more clean and I had a better email address for it. I don't use Hotmail because it's kind of ugly. Gmail is much simpler and I use the calendar and everything else is so much better

Oh, where to start.

I started using Email Providers(Yahoo, MSN, etcetc) back in my sophomore year of high school, and this was pretty much to talk to my friends and for school purposes. When I discovered MSN, I totally forgot about my yahoo one, and eventually it got hacked by some lameass spambot. So, I didn't decide to fret over it.

Oh, then my first hotmail email got hacked after just leaving it alone for one month. I used that first one for like three years, so I made a new one. It's the one I currently use. I just hope the same thing doesn't happen. -_-

I used to have MSN as my primary email hub, but nowadays I get nothing but Amazon deals, Play.com deals and various forms of Facebook rubbish that I don't really want. My use of MSN hotmail reached its peak during my mid-high school years. Since then it's plummeted and I've jumped ship to Gmail, having used it for quite a while now. The issue with spam on MSN - while it was never really too big of an issue for me - just doesn't pop up with Gmail so that's quickly one major advantage while at the same time I can neatly have all my important emails all stored in there, from bank-related details to emails from relatives to crucial university messages.

I've always used hotmail.

I've had the same email since I was 13, so ten years I've had it for now.

It was only this year that something dodgy happened with it. Somehow my account was sending out spam to people. I ended up getting it sorted out though.

I have a few email addresses that I use for different things, just to keep things seperated.

I've never like Yahoo or G-mail very much. I signed up with a G-mail account a couple of years ago but it was soooo slooooow.

Hotmail has always been my preferred email provider.

Ive always used hotmail until recently. The spam and stuff I used to get from them was really annoying so I stopped using that email address and it just sits there and collects spam. I now use a Gmail one. It's much better.

I also have a university email and a TPG (internet provider) email. I never really keep track of any of these except my work uni one.

ive only ever used hotmail, i dont get all that much spam, its usually just BIGTITZ74 WANTS TO ADD YOU TO WINDOWS LIVE, though the eimals off other peoples hotmails that have clealy been hacked annoy the fuck out of me, but i just delete it.

Oh I tell a like, i had a tiscali email when i first set up my broadband....

When I first got on the internet..... :-)wacky:) I started out with Hotmail, it was my first messenger and all that. I also have Yahoo messenger, which you automatically get an email with, but I rarely use Hotmail and Yahoo.

My primary email would be from Gmail, I've had it for 4 years if not more, and it works perfect for me. It's hard for me to navigate through any other email provider, xD I am just so used to Gmail. ♥

Same :wacky:

AOL was my first service provider, and unfortunately for me, half the time every time I heard that delightfully sterile voice tell me I had e-mail, it was spam e-mail about enlarging certain parts of the human anatomy that I don't necessarily possess...

I have multiple Hotmail accounts now for my primary e-mail...they eventually get corrupted, so I always end up changing them, a problem that I never had with AOL. I'm on MSN a lot as well, so I use my Hotmail accounts with that. I've used Hotmail for about 7 years now, ever since I discovered MSN...although I never actually check the e-mails on the accounts, they're just so I can chat to people. xD

I also have a Googlemail account with the University. I'd say this is probably the best account I have, because I never get spam e-mail from it, so I may look into a googlemail account in the future. I do get a lot of annoying notifications from it, though...

Well let's see.. the first internet/email provider I had was a MS DOS program called Prodigy. I was totally retro in the looks, and you had to know how to get around using dos commands. ...Oh doshell.. anyways. It was a piece, but what can you expect when most internet providers were maybe running at 14.4kbps connection. We had some generic email given to it, but at the time e-mails were something new.

The next email/internet provider I had was AOL. I believe I started when it was around... 2.5 or so. I know no body was on it or heard of it at the time. It was still in 3 1/2 inch disks. This is where I started to first utilize the email system. I think I was around 11-12 or so. I talked to my little "girl friend" at the time on it via it but nothing much else. I utilized AOL later to play games of course. Which cost my folks a bundle (should have never done). My handle was Tiger10388, which then turned into DFHTiger, then turned into TylerReb.

The next I think I used was yahoo. At the time yahoo was the shiznit. It made everything and I do mean everything else obsolete with it's simple features. I could send/receive files easy. I could host pictures and have my little angelfire account linked into it.

The next account I had was a hotmail account which lasted me up till college. Chillman76 was the handle, which spawned many sub names for gaming and for talking on AIM. I learned what it meant to Phish and onion spam through this account. The ability to do IRC channel take overs forcing operators to shut down servers.. I was a bad little shit. Never boastful, just curious. Good ole Warez.

I think had dtwood@olemiss.edu once I hit college. I used this for keeping in touch with classmates and teachers for the most part and getting distracted by my over demanding girl friend at the time. Ah to roll back the years.

Now a days I have had around 3 separate accounts. One for work which I will not disclose, one for home, and one for business. Everything has the word tyler in it for the most part it seems. Though with people trying to hack accounts for Blizzard accounts and such, and do the fact I am inactive in the game. I bounce accounts every now and again. So now I have a hotmail and gmail account for the most part.

R.I.P. Doshell. :sad3:

And we had Prodigy for a while too. My very first provider was AOL back in the days of dial-up. I eventually moved to Yahoo once we got DSL. This was around the time DSL was first available. I actually still have that Yahoo address so I've had it for about 12 or so years now. I don't really care for their new design though. It was my primary until gmail came out around 2004. I made the switch to gmail and I've been using it ever since. It has never changed up too much and it's simple and easy. The spam filter is better than Yahoo as well.

I've never used hotmail as a primary email. I've only used it for MSN purposes.

i've had yahoo since i was about 13, i'm onto my second account now because i was getting all kinds of crap from stupid websites i'd signed up to. i've never had any problems with spam or anything, they have a pretty good filter for spam.

i doubt i'll ever switch over to hotmail or g-mail or anything, purely because i'm just so used to yahoo.

e-mail providers.. ready for a very long list... :P

my first e-mail provider was my school i think they used a server at southend council as a provider... i think it was stevensKingsdown.southend.sch.uk ... but that address is long gone, i have three hotmail accounts.. one i stopped using cuz of spambot on msn <.< second one was because i got fed up of facebook notification every 5 mins o_O my current one has a stupid name -_- and it been hacked... (been signed up for sites i would never use) i have a yahoo one.. but i forgot the password in 5 mins :P, i have two e-mail addresses from our broadband provider Sky, my first one i had to close because it decided to stop me from logging in (i knew the password and it didn't change after a password reset) my current one i don't use it for e-mail, i only use it for sky go (watching movies online XD). my main e-mail provider is gmail, i have one account... no spam, and it sooo easy to use.. and it linked to my youtube page :P

as for e-mail software... i use to use windows live mail like all the time.. but now i use outlook.. to be honest.. i never go on the web version.. i alway look at my mail from either outlook on the pc, IMail on the mac, or the ve-mail feature on either my mobile or the IPad...

oh yh.. i got a Me.com e-mail a few days ago when i set up my icloud on the mac and IPad XD

AOL - My very first e-mail account at the age of 14. I don't remember much from it, but I remember getting excited whenever I heard, "You've Got Mail".

Just remembered I also had one of these back when we still had dialup :hmmm: Didn't use it for much, and I don't remember the password. It was shared with my brother I think.

It was only this year that something dodgy happened with it. Somehow my account was sending out spam to people. I ended up getting it sorted out though.

That generally means that your email has been compromised (someone has managed to hack into it and start sending spam emails with a botting client or something) and you should probably change any passwords that your email shared with other accounts (facebook, etc). I keep getting spam emails like that from one of my friends on my old Yahoo account, just have been too lazy to tell him :lew:

I mainly use hotmail. Ive had it since i was a kid and have lots of things registered with it. It would be a pain to change everything over to say, my google account. I will say though that gmail is much better. Like everyone else said, hotmail is full of spam which is quite annoying. I just cba changing everything over to it.

I've always used Yahoo as my main email. I've had so many. I think I did my first in 2007. It was something with Dude Love. XD I've been using my current one since the day I signed up on here.

I have another Yahoo I use regularly, but it's for ordering PPVs from the WWE website. XD

I also have a gmail account. But that's only for games. I was forced to create one. :jtc:

I've been using yahoo since I was 21, but hotmail was my first. I still have that account but its for paypal use now.

My yahoo mail is my emergency account, in the event I can't access my site email account or if someone emails my primary and they get a daemon-error reply back.

My primary email address is my website email.

I have quite few Gmail accounts for usage due to the fact that I'm a fucker for forgetting passwords.

I have a Microsoft account from my college for College related things, I have a forwarding Gmail with my name(Since my student email utilises my Student ID),

I have a gmail account I created years ago back when I thought it was coolio to have one. I didn't send many mails with it and I usually ignored it...Hence why there's 738 unread mails in the inbox.

Well when I was in middle school I wasn't allowed on the internet onless asking for my folks permission. Don't know why not like I was going to dl something bad or what not. But anywho, I remember my first email account was with yahoo. I secretly made it. :giggle: Still have it. Then I moved on to Aol for an month, didn't like it. Cause I don't remember if none of my friends had it, then on to Hotmail which I still have.
But now I am faithly to Gmail. I love it.

I've always used Hotmail/Live.

I never clean my inbox. I'd thought about using gmail, but I'd never get makoeyes@gmail.com. But it is tempting to just do it anyway, since Hotmail/Live are just completely shit filtered out on some sites where you won't even be sent an account activation email.
