Of course I searched and didn't see anything however if any of you feel it should be elsewhere/similar topic do what you do I just would like to apologize a head of time if that's the case.

Random question yes however, I was thinking of this because I remember a time when I was younger when I was rushed to the Emergency Room due to dehydration.(random thought) It was scary really though at the time because I could've easily avoided it if I were to drink more water. We all know that water is the main source of our body like 70% or something and if you don't drink enough water in a certain amount of days you can die. I guess I have two questions for all of you: Do you actually drink your daily amount of water? and the second one is have you ever had an experience with dehydration?
I've gotten a lot better with my water. I hate the feeling of being thirsty and water quenches my thirst so I tend to drink water for the most part more then juice soda/ etc. I bring a water bottle to work everyday and sip on that some throughout the day.
The time I was dehydrated was when I was like sevenish and I remember going to the park on a really like blazing hot day. My head was like throbbing I was like ":gasp:" wtf is going on? Then I started to feel dizzy and light-headed. It was scary to me because at the time I had no clue what was going on you know? I eventually passedout or something and was rushed to the E.R. horrible horrible. :ffs:
So what about you guys?? Did something like this happen to you?

I always drink a ton of water, probably more than I should sometimes--as many as 8 bottles a day depending on the weather. I've never had to go to the hospital from dehydration, though I know someone who did, but if I don't get enough water I feel like I can't breathe, like I swallowed a towel or something, and I have to either get water or sit down and not move. It's probably not a good thing, because I feel kind of dependent on it, and if I ever got stuck in a desert I probably wouldn't make it for as long as most people, but I like it more than most other drinks too.

I drink quite alot during the day, makes me wee alot though, which annoys me, but I just always have done, I like to keep my skin clear. If I don't drink enough water, it shows. Also, if you don't drink enough water and you start to feel like you're hungry, it might just be that you are thirsty, so I do it to help with my diet as well :8F:

Ive never really cared for fizzy pop either, so yeah, I think Ive pretty much always drank enough water

I don't think I do and I really should drink more, though I've never felt dehydrated before.

I'm quite fussy, however. I don't like water on its own, so I usually have orange or blackcurrant with it.

I'm quite surprised I'm still healthy after the years of drinking coke mostly. That's what I drink day in day out. o_O

I don't like water all that much to be honest. :gonk: I'm a sucker for juices though. Multifruit, and orange juice, prefered. <3

I frequently go all day without drinking when I'm at University; I've just gotten used to it. I've come close to passing out in the summer a few times as a result, and almost every time I stand up I get a wave of dizziness (although that is due to a mild anaemia I just can't seem to shake...) but...meh, I'm not bothered. I don't really stop to think about it. Asides from a glass of milk in the morning and the occasional glass of multi-vitamin fruit juice to avoid getting scurvy in my legs again, water is all I drink.

I probably don't drink my daily allowance, or whatever you want to call it, but I don't really buy into all this "healthy-living" nonsense. I drink when I'm thirsty, I eat when I'm hungry, and since I'm not a very active person it makes little difference to me. I'm still breathing, so what does it matter? I'll deal with later-life problems that may arise as a result of my "careless" lifestyle when they get here. Life is far too short to be bothering with this sort of thing. XD

There's a water fountain right down the hallway, and I use it quite a bit. I don't know if I drink my recommend daily amount of water every single day, but I do know I drink quite a bit and I haven't had any water-related health problems thus far.

I'm hooked on Cranberry juice at the moment, so it's all I really drink. Like Ami, I don't really like water on its own. I associate it with the dentist and cleaning me teeth and shizz. I only really drink it when I've got the flu.

I haven't had any problems or anything from not drinking water, so I'm not too fussed on it xD

I drink a bottle of water a day when I'm at work, so I certainly don't drink the daily "required" amount of water. I just don't care for water, and personally, I think it's highly overrated. I mean, water is good and all, but I think it's overglorified how much you're "supposed" to drink. I've been around for 27 years and probably drank less water than any living 27 year old, and I never any medical problems or dehydration issues (to answer the 2nd question).

I drink a ton of soda. I get told about it frequently as well. For probably like a year or so, I went to a full-on water drinking diet, mainly because of some digestive problems I have. It didn't change anything and didn't change how my body felt, so I gave up on it and went back to soda. And personally, I feel terrific! ;)

I drink nothing but water all day and every day. It just sort of clicked one day when I was running often, it was the only positive thirst quencher I could have. Then one day I started loving the taste, and it's all I drink anymore. I can honestly say I easily get enough water a day.

I probably go through around 12 glasses a day now.

I don't usually drink too much water.

The only times I do is at work on my lunch breaks and throughout the day I'll have a bottle with me at my desk.

But at home I always have soft drink, cordial, juice etc.

Our tap water tastes disgusting and Steve only ever drinks soft drink, so that's all we buy for home usually.

So it's a no for me. I most likely don't drink the required amount, but I still keep myself hydrated with other drinks.

Exactly the same here. I don't like drinking sodas. Hard to say exactly how much water I drink in a day, but I can say it's a lot because I use the bathroom once every 3 hours or less. Also, when I was young, I was told that my urinary track was weak against infections, so it was necessary for me to drink more water than the normal person. But even if it wasn't required, I think I'd still prefer water over sodas. It's more refreshing than any other drink and it keeps the skin clear.

The only way to really check if you are drinking the correct amount of water is to use an 8 ounce glass or bottled water. I prefer drinking bottled water. Mainly because tap water tends to have chlorine in it. Which is very bad for your thyroid.

The recommended amount of water is 4 .5 liter bottles a day. I reccomend spring water. Not the filtered stuff. Also do not drink it cold. Drink it room temp.

Also, too much water is a strain on your kidneys. Can cause kidney damage. So do not drink more than reccomended either.

Definately enough, I can easy have a pint of water with my dinner and a pint after and im contstantly drinking it through the day at work aswell so i know for a fact i drink enough. I do drink fizzy drinks though mainly i drink them with vodka or whatever at the weekends. I have a major major weakness for irn bru though i can easily guzzle a 2ltr bottle witin a few hours. . . yeah i know its bad for my teeth. But on topic, i do drink my daily recomended amount of water and then some more.

Nope. I have a wicked caffeine addiction and don't drink coffee - so I usually down at least 5-6 20oz bottles of Diet Coke/day. I know - it's disgusting.

I'll usually drink 2 bottles of water during and after working out so I get maybe 1/2 the recommended amount.

Although I do open my mouth in the shower a lot. Maybe that counts?

Drinking too much water can kill you. It's generally associated with Ecstasy use. That and grinding your teeth.

I don't think you are supposed to drink x amount of water each day, it's just x amout of fluids, whether that be coke or water.
I definitely don't drink enough of either, I normally have a glass of water or Orange Juice when I wake up and a drink at lunch time and dinner. If I'm staying in and I feel like having a drink it's generally just beer and whisky. Still it's quite a bit less than the 4-5 litres a day.

I drink loads of water.

I grew up in Saudi Arabia so my Dad said I should a little bit more than the recommended amount. It's super hot and very dry there, you tend to lose more fluids so it's essential to keep those levels up. Now that I'm in the UK, it's not such a problem but I still have the same habit.

I actually like the taste of water. Water from a stream in Scotland has a very distinct taste and it's beautiful. It's so refreshing... juices and soft drinks don't really hit the spot like water does. The English water isn't too bad either.

When I don't drink enough, I usually get a thunderous headache letting me know to drink some.

I drink lots of stuff, none of it water :wacky:

I think there is water in some of the things, though, so I may get my required amount. I haven't felt faint and my stomach always feels like a water bed, so I think I do :hmm: I hope I do for the sake of my health :O

I'd say I do. I drink at least 3-4 bottles of water a day. I prefer spring water over tap water so I tend to go through water quickly. I'm not a big fan of juice or soda, tbh. If I do buy juice, it usually sits in my fridge until it goes bad because I just don't care for it. The only exception is Grape Juice, which I love.

The only other drinks I really care for are tea, coffee, fruit smoothies and occasionally chocolate milk. I have to have my daily coffee or I get cranky. :8F:

So yeah, I'd say I definitely get the recommended amount of water a day. xD

I'd say I drink at least half the amount of water recommended each day, it depends on how my day is constructed. With college it varies since on the odd day I need to do quite a bit so I tend to drink less but when I've got next to nothing to do I could probably quite comfortably drink the recommended amount. I probably drink too much when I have 5aside since I'll drink about a litre before I go so I don't get as dehydrated as quickly then 1 or 2 litres afterwards since I'll be thirsty plus water during the day. It depends on my day really. :hmmm:
