What is your earliest memory and roughly how old were you at the time? My earliest memory is of me walking out of the toilet just after I had finished taking a piss and that's it..I would've been somewhere between 2 and 3 at the time. I can't remember if I washed my hands or not :gasp:

Sigmund Freud would probably say that I chose to remember this event because I would've been pleased at the time to discover my penis. But I don't know why this is my earliest memory.

Anyway what is your earliest memory, how old were you, and why do think it may have been significant?

I was in my first year of primary school.....so I think I was about four or five at the time.

I remember at the time I was copying my older sister who is left-handed. So I was trying to emulate her and writing with my left hand as well, which wasn't very successful. I think I was very reluctant to use my right hand.

Then my teacher introduced me to the classroom's computer to help make my work more legible. I've never seen such a strange contraption before. To me, it was a big, grey plastic box on a table. And I remember trying to scrawl words (with my left hand xD) on the screen with a felt tip pen. xD

I can't remember how and when I became right-handed at last. :lew: It's a significant memory in that I was introduced to the wonders of modern technology.

That's the earliest thing I can remember at the moment. I may suddenly recall one when I was three later or something.

SashMan what the hell is your Problem coming up with all of these excellent threads!

I remember when i discovered my.......nevermind.

My Earliest memory is of myself falling into an ants nest at the beach and my farther, when he was my farther that is, chucked me into the ocean and washed me off, there was my Mom in the background yelling "dont throw him too far Bernard!"

I think I was about 6 months old maybe? its more likely I was older.

This may explain excessive fear of the deepest parts of the ocean and being trapped under an Iceberg.......WTF?

My earliest memory that I can really remember and haven't just seen on video was when a padlock fell on my head when I was three years old.

I was at church and my sister (who would have been about seven) was opening a really heavy padlock on a cupboard... I stood underneath the cupboard so that I could see what was happening and then she dropped the padlock. I just remember holding my head, with my sister looking at me worried and concerned, and then I moved my hands away and there was lots of blood. I was taken to the hospital and I had to have stitches (which they did in the shape of a cross since they were told that it happened in church).

So for a while I would have been walking around with a cross on my head. :brooding:

The injury itself (not the stitches, luckily :O) left a mark which is still visible today in the right light.

My earliest memory is nearly falling out of a window when I was 4 :sad3:

Something fell out of the window and I tried to reach for it. The window guard was very low at the time, so I toppled over it. My Mom, luckily, was very calm and didn't provoke me and I didn't fall. It was really scary, now that I look back on it :hmmm:

It was my 3 year old birthday and it was memorable because I had two neighborhood girls chasing me around trying to land a kiss on my blond headed face.

I remember their names too, the sad part is, but that is due to the photographic memory.. "I once" had.. Stupid alcohol.

Anyways.. Yea chased around and the cake we had was a Donald Duck cake. They eventually caught me.. that's all I gotta say.

I actually have a couple very early memories - back to when I was still in a crib (had to be less than 2).

- I remember my mom carrying me downstairs in the middle of the night to fill up my bottle.
- I remember sharing a room with my older sister at the time and my dad coming in and yelling at her for crying in her sleep (she's 3 years older so she must have been 4-5 by that time).

My oldest was getting slightly electricuted by a plug when I was 1 or 2. I was sticking keys into an electric pllug socket and was pretending to be speed racer xD. I loved that show! But anyways I got shocked all throughout my body when I tried sticking my moms car keys into the plug and went crying and running to my mumsy who was standing at the front door. She figured what happened cause I think I mimed to her what I had done ofr something. Yup...memories are lovely, and I've gotten shocked by plugs many times since then btw :hmmm:

Mine would have to be when I was 3 or 4ish.

I remember when I was little my brother put me in a headlock and I started crying and whining to my dad.

I also remember putting foil in the microwave and almost blew it up.
I got in soooooo much trouble xD. My mom was like : "she didnt know better."

I also remember going to a friends house where her uncle would do tricks... it was so believable x]

Well, it would have to be of me and my sisters going to a Zoo, and I was on my dads shoulders and he lent over this really high up cage tht had Giraffe's in it and I was little at the time about 3 or so so the Giraffes scared the crap outta me :wacky:

But before that it was us feeding ducks at some pond at a park in Cali.

Mine was just a few weeks before my mum went into labour with me, I was inside her trying to sleep but she started doing some sort of aerobics, I'm not sure what kind exactly because I obviously couldn't see, but it felt like jumping jacks, and it was mighty unpleasant, you'd think she forgot I was still inside her. I kept getting jostled around to the point where my umbilical cord got caught around my neck and I could hardly breath so I started panicking, like, I could have actually died. I managed to slip the cord over my face and off my head though, and then worked the cord straight so it would work normally again, then I gave my mum a swift jab to the liver so she'd stop whatever she was doing.
It was a scary experience, that. I'll never forget it.

Nice! Gave me a good laugh.

Mine is probably my birthday when I had just started pre-school in September. Bert and Ernie came to my school for some strange reason. Someone spilled Kool-aid on my cupcake. That's about it. Bert, Ernie and a soggy cupcake >.>

Mine was when I was about 3... It was the day they found Kurt Cobain's body... :hmmm: I remember very clearly the MTV news report... and then later on that day, I was at my grandmother's house... and I was, even at 3, a HUGE Nirvana fan... so when a Nirvana video came on later that day, I remember saying to my grandma, "that's not real, he killed himself! I saw it on TV!"

pretty morbid for a first memory :hmmm:

I think my first is when I was around two, maybe three, it was late at night, maybe 9pm... I was still sleeping in a crib in my parents room. I crawled out of my crib, via a pile of clothes stacked high on top of a small bench. Made my way from my parents room and crawled down the length of the hall and towards the kitchen but stopped at the door, realizing my parents were on the other side...

So I turned towards the spare room, went through and into my oldest sister's room. She was asleep. Then I went into the adjacent room that belonged to my other older sister, but it was too dark to see. So I turned on the light and was face to face right there with my sleeping sister, so I hastily shut it off.

BUT IT WAS TOO LATE!

My oldest sister had woken in the other room and grabbed me by the scruff of my shirt and dragged me into the kitchen where my parents were.

...and that's all I remember.

Wow. You all have good memories. I can't remember anything before age 6. I can't remember how old I was but I know I was 6 or 7 at the time. I remember at that time my older brother did something that pissed me off and I eventually lost control and hit him with a broom. It was funny seeing him brother crying because of a slightly bleeding lip. Sure I got in trouble for it but it was well worth it. I still never let him live it down.

My earliest memory has to be my first day at Primary school. It was a really tiny school, with only 100 people in it. There were 6 of us in "afternoon" nursery. And I remember going there, like we did every afternoon, just ready to play. But then the head-teacher came into the nursery, and we had to follow her down the winding path as we went into Class one. We got to colour in Hamsters and write our names. I can't remember what else we did, but I remember colouring in those Hamsters :lew:

When I was 4 years old and in kindergarten, I remember that I discovered a kid younger than me who had pooped his pants. And I remember that I was running around shouting "haha he pooped his pants, and he has all over his butt and back". He eventually got his dipers changed luckily. XD

I think I must have been two or three years old wandering around in my parents' first flat together. I can vaguely remember what it looked like, I think I might have gone to the balcony and looked around. Apparently, I was a curious kid. xD

Hmm, maybe around the age of 4?

I remember getting my brother to get into the dryer so that I could turn it on and spin him around and around.

My dad heard the dryer on and came rushing downstairs. I think I may have got a smack for nearly killing my little brother, but I'm not sure.

My earliest memory is of me going to kindergarten. I still remember exactly the playground and the swings and the slides. I can't remember certain events of my life, but I remember the places.
