Which one are you planning to buy or do you wish to buy etc? With the new generation of game consoles comes greater expectations and unfortunately steep prices as well.

Its troubled times my friends and money will be an issue for most (at least for me)

This might be the last console I am going to buy. I wont buy the xbox cause I will not pay for online functions nor do I want to receive ads. Crossgame chat is overrated cause at times when I am concentrating someone always talks way too much and its annoying at times.

PS4 will be way overpriced, hopefully browser is still there. Hope not to pay for online functionality. Hopefully they will consider/pay more attention to EU PSN, cause I have loads of money to burn, but am way disappointed about the offerings on PSN. All BluRays MUST BE 1080i/p! Also hope to see ps4 will have more memory! Cause while gaming we cant do shit basically.

WiiU is a bit too late imo. They have to offer really good stuff to make me interested and not these freeking annoying remakes like most games are. (not just on the Wii & 3DS btw)


So I am not sure tbh which one to buy. Maybe when there is more info. Perhaps this is not the right time to make such a thread

Well, you can ALWAYS expect any new console to be overpriced.

And here's a bit of a interesting bit about Sony.

The PS2 was starting priced at 300$, the PS3 was starting priced at 600$. See the pattern there?

If at all, the technology used in such future consoles will be none like other, so either the base price will be 900 or 1200. Rofl.

TBH Dennis, I'm keeping my PS3 for a LONG time, even if the PS4 will be out in a few years.

It's tough to say at this point as I know nothing about any of them. Visually I think they all look a bit shit to be honest, but that means little in the grand scheme of things I guess.

Going from past experiences the most likely candidate would be the PS4 as I've only ever owned Sony consoles (aside from the Wii). But again I'd have to wait until I learned more about them and their games etc..

There's also the possibility that I won't get any of them too..

I know the next gen coming along and making the current consoles obsolete will be inevitable, but we can honestly wait. Do we really need new consoles soon? Surely it would serve to make it even costlier and longer to make individual games for something like the PS4 and the next Xbox. I'm all for giving it another 5 years or so, at least enough time to give the current consoles a decent swan song after this rather underwhelming generation in my opinion.

Those concept arts look...horrible anyway. No offence to the artists, but I would totally retch if I saw any of them being announced as the official designs, especially that weird Xbox cocoon-like....thing. When the next generation does finally come, I may get the PS4 or something eventually, because I've largely been a Sony loyalist despite the bastards always slapping on steep prices onto their products. Heck, I may even get the Wii U if Monolith is making a new game for it - and if it's possible. There is little point in me purchasing a machine close to launch when it will a) have very few games worth playing and b) will inevitably fall in price later on. I'm not exactly swimming in money either. Screw your £500 price tag for instance.

Judging by the Zelda tech demo, the Wii-U will definitely be 1080p.

The concept designs for both the Xbox 720 and Playstation 4 look utter shite, and not only does the latter look terrible it's stupidly impractical. Anyone who thinks an expensive piece of electronic equipment should me made from glass, especially that thin, needs shooting. The Playstation 4 will probably be a hefty price, but no more expensive than the Playstation 3, Sony have admitted the price tag on it was the reason it had an extremely poor start but has since overtaken the Xbox 360 since the major price drop to the £200s. The browser needs to be cut out of consoles, it's shockingly woeful and it's unnecessary, I'm sure Sony and Nintendo have much better things to do than constant maintenance on the browser.

I'll buy the PS4 regardless of the price, I paid full price for both my 60GB and then for the slim and I've paid hundreds for my laptop and other electronic equipment so paying hundreds for the PS4 doesn't really deter me, it's part of paying for consoles unless you're happy to wait years. The Wii-U will probably have a decent start because it's released first then when the 720/PS4 come out it'll be demolished.

You're all a bunch of squares. The concepts look trippy as hell, the 720 looks like a heavy weapon that you'd unlock on Mass Effect 2 or something.

If I were to buy one, it would be the PS4 because I tend to stick one line of products when it comes to electronics. But tbh, I don't know how much gaming I'll be doing in the next few years anyway.

I will eventuall buy all three, but not for a few years after they come out. For at least the first year, these systems are HIGHLY overpriced. It takes about 2 years before the price starts dropping and all of the system flaws are exposed and patched up.

I don't think I'll really care about next gen consoles tbh. And like Ducky said the concept designs are hideous.

I used to be a really avid gamer but now that I've gotten older and have more responsibilities on my hand I find that I don't really have time to game that much anyways. I've never put games or consoles at my highest priority. Honestly I'm fine with my ps3 as it is. I enjoy the games I have for it and I really could care less about graphics so I think I'm just going to skip this next gen of consoles altogether... Unless I win the lottery or something.

I have always waited till the consoles had a price drop, but I know plenty of people who will or have bought consoles day one.

They have the money and later on they will buy the different versions.

I don't think I'll be buying any of them. I'm very happy/content with my consoles and the games on those consoles. The list of (incredible) games I need to complete is lengthy and I even own some I haven't started!

The titles on the top of my list are (in order of generation):
- Vagrant Story
- Final Fantasy VII

- Metal Gear Solid
- Metal Gear Solid 3
- Tales of Symphonia
- Baten Kaitos
- Skies of Arcadia
- Resonance of Fate
- Uncharted 2
- Final Fantasy XIII

- The Sly Trilogy
- Lost Odyssey
- Blue Dragon
- Star Ocean: Last Hope
- Zelda: Skyward Sword
- Xenoblade Chronicles

And those are just the TOP titles from my collection. I can see these games lasting me 10 years plus...

Buying further consoles also feels incredibly wasteful with so many fantastic games. I know these consoles are going to be able to do more, but I don't really need to experience the next 'revolution' in gaming.

I am ever so slightly annoyed about Beyond Good and Evil 2. I've been waiting for the game for years and it's now being released on the next gen consoles... Meh. In doing that they have lost my support.

I'm skeptical on this sort of topic, I think I will go with the next Xbox as its my preferred multiplayer, socialising console (play station for exclusive games) and well in terms of specs I think MS have the ball in their court I think it will be more powerful that a PS3 by a far margin but enough so the specs don't make the system expensive.

Sony however I will expect their next machine to be a lovely power upgrade but not as substantial as xbox720....whatever haha. Because they have already stated they can't afford to go in at a major loss, which they did with the PS3 for many years.

Nintendo can do what they want but they are to late to catch up, the wii U will sell well and be powerful more than the Xbox and play station but..... Then their next consoles will come out relatively soon, so it's upto Nintendo to make their new console count and show promise.....

umm minus the Wii-U the PS4 and whatever Microsoft does call the next xbox hasn't really been released. so the console stuff is really rumored and those might not (and probably aren't) the real consoles.

But honestly, I'm not holding my breath or anything on the next consoles. Wii-U's controller thing is crap.

Whats xbox and Ps4 going have? a moving thing like the wii? better graphics? 3d crap that I hate?

I'll wait till the prices drop on them all before I even think about what to get.

Probably a PS4 for me.
I don't trust the Quality Control for microsoft.Plus I like Japanese games which as we know they don't like Microsoft's system for the most part.Until Nintendo gets more 3rd party developers I am wary of them .

I do believe Sony has learned their lesson for the PS3 and will make cost cutting paramount for the PS4, so I don't believe it will cost $800-$1200.
I am thinking they'll find a way to make it $300-$400 yet again.
I believe that's the optimum maximum price range most players can afford.More than that and it's overpriced for the market.

I dont see any purpose in new consoles really.

As it stands graphics are amazing on the ps3 and 360 anyway so who cares if they look better? The only thing id really like to see would be a multiplayer improvement. Id like to be able to play with people across the world and not have to worry about LAG and other annoying things like that. I dont know if a better console would improve that though or thats down to the game companies servers etc.
I cant see there being another console for many years to be honest. All 3 consoles still sell well so taking out another one, for now, would be silly buisness.

The price wouldnt bother me. I get every bit of my moneys worth from my game consoles so i wouldnt think twice about spending money on one. I think like ryan said theyre no more expensive than a laptop or whatever. Maybe in your case jim. Guitars.
