Yep, after about a year and a half of trying to go...it's finally been approved and set. I'll be going to London in May. Once again, any recommendations on what to do for my off days? :lew: I don't want to act too much like a tourist or whatnot. xD

Come see me :monster:

:-)wacky:)

If I went to London, I'd definitely act like a tourist. That's what I did when I went to see Dir en grey in August, before I caught the train back the next day I went around Camden market just because I could :8F:

...I've only ever been to London a few times though so it's not really helpful. But there's plenty to do.

How long will you have there?

I think you may as well act the tourist (or at least see things) while you are there after you've been trying to go for ages. :D

I’ll write this assuming that you’ll not be leaving London during your visit. If you would be travelling out then there are many, many places to go!

London is a very interesting place, and there are a lot of things to do there. Even just walking around London (in the right places) can be pleasing to the eye.

I'd strongly recommend wandering around the British Museum. It's free to enter (minus whatever the main exhibition holds at that time, which you’d pay for in advance if you wished to see it), is easy to find, and it has a huge collection from many cultures and time periods across the world. That's if history or anthropology are your thing. I can see a general interest would be appealing to most people though, so I would strongly recommend visiting that place.

If you like (stuffed) animals then the Natural History Museum is also very good, but this is much busier, or at least you have to actually queue up for that one.

There are other museums too, of course. Dozens of them. I've only mentioned the above as they are the main two. I'll throw a mention out for the Imperial War Museum too, as that is very good, and also the Greenwich Observatory and the National Maritime Museum deserve a mention, but I'd suggest the other two over them.

Other than museums there are places such as Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament which are great to look at as you walk past, and with Buckingham Palace you can have a tour inside if you wished. There’s always St. Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey too.

There’s actually a lot to do in London. More things than I can think of, but I can’t think non-tourist in a place like London. You could do shopping I guess, as there are plenty of places there which are considered uber-cool for shoppers… Yeah, I’m not really in the loop with that world. :gonk:

I think in general London is an interesting city to walk around so long as you’re in the nice areas. It’s got a great feel to it I think.

I've only been to London a few times, so I can't really recommend much for you. Dan has the right idea. There should be a large abundance of museums and even dungeons - even the Tower of London - to wander around in if you're in the mood for that. xD

I know Camden market is really popular for shoppers who fancy a thorough browse through all the items they have for sale there. A few other places are also great for shopping, such as Oxford Street and Bond Street. You should check out Harrods as well which is in Knightsbridge.

And watch out for the weather as well. Even in May it can totally pour down without much warning. :3

Do me on your off days :mokken:

I'll just drag you all over the place... If I has moneys :mokken: even though i'll be just as lost

Oh! Ooooooooooooooh! Can I come too? I've been dying to go for a while. How long are you staying? I hope you have a great time seein all the sights and what not! ^_^

Turns out...the trip is all through England, not just London.

London is gonna be the primary stop on the trip, where I'll be for about 8 days.
Then we're going north to the lake district...which I think is on the west side...? That's after we go to the Moors, which i think is the opposite side.

Then over to Manchester for a few days, probably about 2-4. Hopefully to Liverpool. I wanna see Abbey Road. :mokken:

Abbey Road is in London!

If you do go to Camden Market avoid it on the weekends, as it's absurdly crowded then.

Its alright you know, after they sorted out the pavements and widened them. You've gotta hit stables. London's just too big a place for a quick visit.

...and yeah Abbey Road is in London xD

:rage: I was told it was in Liverpool.

Well, then...yeah, definitely seeing Abbey Road. :wacky:

Well, I've no interest in Liverpool anymore. xD

My friend's from there!

Also, if you find where the lakes actually ARE in Kendel, please let me and Kelly know. :dave:

HAHAHAHA this post made me lol so much, as soon as I read she was off to the lakes first thing I thought was lol, I wonder if she has better luck finding them than we did xD

According to Izzy we were so close to finding them as well, essentially at that train station where we went to the shop with the paintings and had the cake that cost me a million squids

You should take the Jack the Ripper tour in london its fun and highlights just how depraved the greatest empire the world has ever known really was/is.......Iwas i england for 1 year and went to London 11 times........if you live in the UK and you been there less than that well that is.......probably for the best.

You should check out the royal gardens and the palace, also stop by Trafalgar Sqaure and witness the only clean source of water in the UK.........the rumors of it being used as the only place you can take a Bath in the UK are greatly exaggerated.

There is a really coo l Arch along the rod to the Royal Gardens that has a neat Latin Phrase inscribed upon it.........Something about Richard the 3rd anno decimus........I forget.

Alternatively stop by the Focus hardware store in Gainsborough and ask for a guy named George, say you know Peter and he will give a Hammer. Is my old Boss:D

Lakes district?

So basically, we are both blind as bats/thick as fuck.

Tbf though, it was raining that much, we could have just got a dinghy and floated about town

P.s. I still think about that cake

Lakes district?

A region in England, with lakes...apparently

The Lake District is a really nice lace, especially around Spring and Summer.

Kendal, foo'.

If you go to England then you should check out the other cities there too. I personally never liked London.

Manchester is by far the best city in England, great night life, lots of history, the people are far friendlier up north than they are in London as well at first glance. You could be in a pub in London and if you talk to someone they think you're going to mug them, different story up north.

And yeh, lake district is lovely if you like the countryside. Rent a bike or something.

The boy speaks the truth :mokken:

He definitely speaks the truth. No disrespect to the Southerners, but we're very friendly and love speaking to tourists.
