Is your family name important to you?
Do you feel that it, and being a member of your family, is a strong part of your identity?
For the males, do you feel obliged to have a son in order to keep your family name going for future generations?
For me, I was told something with rather scared me the other week, and something reminded me of it today. I was told that I'm essentially the last person in the family that could possibly pass on the family name, which is rather scary. I hate to think that the survival of it rests on me. Especially becuse I suck at that sort of thing
.
Now I know there are plenty of Humes about, but out of our known family, I'm the only one that can carry the name on and be at least our family of Humes, unless some of the old men of the family have a surprise child soon
.
At the same time I know it is stupid, it doesn't really matter that much. But I do feel some sort of identity with my family, and I do feel bad if it dies with me.
So anyway... What about you people?
