Hello, I joined about an hour ago today and I figured I'd introduce myself. I joined the forums because of my love for the long and epic series that had me at hello.
A few years back, I never actually played a turn based RPG. Growing up, I haven't even played a pokemon game which surprised a lot of my friends, considering how popular it is. I heard a lot about Final Fantasy and how great it is, so I figured I would begin playing it. From the very beginning.
My first turn based RPG...no, my first RPG altogether is Final Fantasy 1 for the GBA. I absolutely love the old fashion style, (or so I've heard) of slaying monsters with knights, and wizards in all it's glory. I played it several times, playing the same 20-40 story bonus dungeons over and over again. I have to say the black mage animations are fantastic! Eventually I even bought the PSP version just for a slight change in sprites only to find out about the 5th bonus dungeon (and my favorite dungeon to date) that forces you to sacrifice power for time in each floor.
To make a long story short, I particularly love IV and VI's story, and III and V's customization. I'm also replaying the crap out of the 4th game to collect all of the rare equipment on all of the versions. (Original, PSP, and DS) I'd play the GBA version but I heard it's identical to the PSP version.
I also finished XIII to see what the newer games are like and I'm a bit worried as to where the series is heading. Hopefully the rest aren't as simplified, but I'm playing them all eventually anyways.
Hopefully I'll find joining this site worthwhile, and I look forward to future discussions with this community. Cheers!
