What type of game genre you like to play the most?

The types of game genre that I like to play the most are Action Adventures, RPG, Survival Horror and Fighting. Those are my favorite types of games.

I usually play RPGs, Fighting(Street Fighter, Guilty Gear), Action Adventure(Legend of Zelda), and Sports(NCAA Football and Madden). I'd say nowadays I'm into Fighting games and Sports games more than anything else.

RPG's should be obvious for most of us here. But I'd say for me it's closely followed by Sport games (e.g. even though it's just footie games for me:FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer) and Fighting games (e.g. Tekken and Def Jam). Other genres I like would be racing and shooters.......The rest of the genres, I hardly have any games or even try to get them.

Rpg's obviously....

Other than that one, Hack and Slash games, and First person shooters are the only one's that I really play for the most part. I pick up other games from other genera's, but these are the three I have the most fun playing.

Well, about 80% of my games are RPGs, although most of them are either Strategy RPGs - Disgaea, Tactics Ogre, etc - or RPGs with a real-time battle system - Star Ocean, Tales of Symphonia/Vesperia, etc - and I don't have that many "pure" RPGs; that is, with a turn-based battle system, a shit-ton of NPCs to talk to, little-to-no-direction given on what you're supposed to do next, etc.

I'm hugely fond of hack-and-slash games, as well. The ones that just put you in a level with 500+ enemies and then just leave you to your own devices, allowing for some spectacular combo kills, insane special moves, and epic combo rates. Stuff like Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes, and Ninety-Nine Nights. Great for veting frustration and, if I'm in the mood, I enjoy these more than anything else. I don't have to think - all I have to do is mash away at the buttons and watch my kill count rack up, and if I feel like it, I can press some different buttons for some flashy combo attacks.

I'm very fond of games that combine elements of games into one, though. Like Borderlands, a FPS with a skill and level-up system, and the likes of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Hunted: Demon's Forge, which are primarily Action/Adventure games but break up the monotony with puzzles.

I don't like music games, but I do like games with good music. If a game has good music, I'll probably end up buying it and enjoying it, regardless of how well or badly it plays in comparison to some others. I've bought a lot of games based off their soundtrack alone, and I've not been disappointed with any of them. xD

My favourite type of game is RPGs, I like the story that comes along with it, the in depth characters, the artistic designs and music.

I also really like Fighters, Racing games, Simulation, most action games, platformers, puzzles..I like pretty much any genre other than scary horror games and sports games :|

the games i like most tend to be a combination of things. customization is a huge factor in all of them, and is why FFVII and XII are two of my favorite FF's. Anything involving strategic elements (not just SRPGs) will also draw me in quickly. I love hack and slash, but it has to have some skill involved and grant me some (preferably a lot of) leeway in choosing my methods of killing, else-wise i can't get into it because it isn't 'my' fighter.

i choose action-RPG-strategic-adventure-simulation.

I'd have to say sports. I always play the Football Manager games to death every year. I buy the new Pro Evolution Soccer game and the Madden game every year too. There are other sports games I play too. I bought Top Spin 4 recently, but didn't play it that much.

Much like most other people on this forum, RPGs are my favourite genre. I find them appealing because the storyline keeps you interested and gives you the motivation to progress. Even disregarding the storyline, I enjoy the genuine challenge of many of these games, such as fighting super bosses or doing optional dungeons. A lot of people find stats and strategy more daunting aspects of this genre, but I personally have a somewhat geekish fascination with that sort of thing, and I enjoy challenging myself to get the most out of my characters.

Aside from the RPG genre, strategy games are among my favourites, though that mainly applies to older games, I haven't really enjoyed that many newer strategy games. Platforms are next on the list, mostly because that's primarily the genre I grew up on, and they are extremely satisfying to play once you get good at them. Finally, I'm a big fan of racing titles, because they encourage you to get better by making only minimal improvements each time, which I enjoy, perhaps since they appeal to my somewhat perfectionist nature.

Well, I suppose I could broadly categorise a lot of my actions under the "action" in general, whether they are action adventures like the Zelda games or purely action games such as Batman: Arkham Asylum and Just Cause 2. I know a lot of action games come out with rather underwhelming storylines that you can summarise onto the back of a postage stamp, as well as samey, uninspired characters, but most of the time I don't really care, though Uncharted 2 manages to avoid these pitfalls remarkably well. If the gameplay consistently manages to wow me with a plethora of good moments in an action game, it's worth my attention and love. I never thought I would love Batman: Arkham Asylum for example, and while playing through it, I loved nearly every moment of it, bar the annoying sections such as the Croc's lair. I've also started enjoying actions that place heavy emphasis on shooting, but aren't actually first-person shooters such as Vanquish. I love Vanquish because it's just absolutely crazy. Forget about realism. Throw that away completely - shoot mindlessly if you want to. With hundreds of bullets, beams and missiles converging on you at times, the game does a fantastic job of keeping you on your toes and maintaining the fun that I've found to be lacking in the FPSs I've tried.

However, the majority of the games I have and perhaps play are still RPGs of various kinds, including strategy RPGs (*gazes at Disgaea lovingly*) that comprise of a smaller percentage of my RPG pile. Action RPGs however, are quickly outnumbering the ones with traditional menu-driven turn-based battle systems for two reasons. Firstly, purely turn-based RPGs are seen as being a bit of an anachronism nowadays and few developers continue to make them and secondly, I just prefer to play action RPGs now. Older RPGs of course, are still wonderful to play and experience, particularly with strong storylines that just pull you along all the way, but I simply see menus as being rather restrictive in terms of what I can do in battle. I'm too accustomed to having greater freedom of movement on the battlefield, facing bosses that require a more action-orientated strategic edge to the fights and spamming a plethora of special attacks in wild frenzy.

Even though most of my games are RPG, I love lots of others.
The only survivor horror game I played was Parasite Eve (if it counts) and I'm gonna play Silent Hill.
I love shooters but I myself only own 2...
I really like strategy games, and I hate puzzles. Puzzles are my least favorite part about FF.

my collection are mostly RPG's (FFVII, VIII, IX, X, XIII, Star Ocean Series, Eternal Sonta) i wana play a few of the tales series as well :D

I play alot of fighting games as well (Tekken 6, Blazblue Series, Dissidia Duodecim) racing games (Need for Speed Shift) and Sport Games (Fifa) I play first person Shooters on my PC as well (Modren Warfare 2) and I love Indie games.. i can't get off Minecraft right now XD

I love the Action, Action-Adventure, RPGs, Fighting, and Sport games. I just love having a diverse liking in games, and with games like Devil May Cry, God Of War, Final Fnatasy, and sport games like WWE, and other wrestling games, they make the diversity well worth it. :ryan:

I like most of those genres except for Music, Puzzle, Simulation. I'm not overly fond of racing games either.
There are two things that I look for in a game they are fun/excitement/enjoyment, and a good story. As long as a game has either of those I'll quite like it. Unfortunately it is mostly RPGs that have good stories.

Action, Adventure, a mess of both, RPGs, Survival Horror and I also love games that defy genre like Flower and L.A. Noire and, as soon as it's released, Journey. :3

I like role playing games mostly. Things like the Final Fantasy series, Star Ocean series, Xenosaga series, Tales series etc. I love all of these games. They are just beautiful games. Especially Xenosaga and it's really amazing storyline. I like shooting games also... but not so much. I think Halo is a pretty fun First person shooter. I love action adventure as well. Games like the Uncharted series, Tomb Raider series etc. Those are all really good. Especially Uncharted where you have a cross of treasure hunting, stealth, and third person shooter. Fighting games are alright. I like games like King of Fighters and Soulcalibur(but not IV) I typically enjoy Rpgs the most out of all of these though. JRPGS or rpg shooters like Mass Effect etc.

I put myself down for RPGs, shooters, action adventure, and platforming games. Games such as Kingdom Hearts, Oblivion, Ratchet & Clank, Tales of Symphonia, and TimeSplitters 2, and Fable are my favorite. I'm not as big on shooting games as I once was though. In my opinion, they've slowly been getting worse and worse. Most of 'em just aspire to be like CoD. Doom, Half-Life, TimeSplitters, and Bond games don't dominate the genre anymore.

I mostly like playing RPGs like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Xenosaga, etc. But I do like Shooters, Action-Adventure, Fighting and Music games.
I'm kind of neutral about Survival Horror though. The only Survival-Horror series i've fallen in love with is Fatal Frame because of it's storyline and gameplay. Rule Of Rose and Haunting Ground were pretty decent too.
