Do you think it's right to kill spiders?

There are lots of mosquitoes where I live, due to an artificial swamp near here, and sometimes insecticides are not enough, so spiders are welcomed in my house :gasp: !

I think it's right to kill them if they can kill you. The spiders here are small, harmless, cute and are doing a fine job. One of them even became the mother of 40 children!
 
Mosquitoes will get my fist or just a well aimed bitch smack so they can just be smashed on my wall. I don't think it's morally right to kill spiders BUT my crippling fear of those nasty eight-legged buggers just overtakes any kindness I would otherwise have for them. They're creepy: they way they move and just stealthily creep on you. No motherfucker, just no. I do routinely kill spiders and centipedes but I find myself shuffling harvestmen gently along. I like harvestmen. They eat mosquitoes which I don't like. I also like praying mantises because they eat spiders which I hate. So those are some of the only insects I'd consider preserving in my home. Yep. Everything else can just die.
 
I'm still scared of the little fucks. It can be hard to push your fears aside sometimes. That I get completely. But it counts if you at least try.

now i only drag them out (in case they're too big, then i just scream & cry like a baby & wait until someone showes up to get the spider out of my aura :D).

They just can save my damn life :O
 
Weeeeeeeeeell, I've never actually seen a spider in my apartment so, I think i'm good to go for now :griin: I've seen a couple small ones but aye, what the hell? They eat bugs an' shiet. easier for me ta deal with C: I hate bugs.


I'm not fond of big spiders though. >.>

There's no real reason to kill spiders, people are just dicks.

They kill and eat other bugs for us and really don't want to have anything to do with us. It's a natural plus. We keep them around, they get rid of other pests. SIMPLE!

Straight up word. They leave us alone, we should leave them alone. If you kill spiders because you feel they're "intruding" (jackass reason), then every bug should fuck you up by simply stepping outside onto the grass.
 
I kill them without hesitation or remorse.
There are black widows where I live and their bites are said to cause severe sickness or death in children under 7 and the elderly.
I do let those innocent daddy-long-legs alone, tho. They are perfectly welcome :awesome:
 
I am terrified of spiders so if i see one, I'm certainly not going to pick it up and put it outside. I get my husband to kill it or if he's not around, I grab the fly swatter and kill it. The same goes with other bugs I see in my house. We spray for bugs anyway so we don't really get that many. If I see insects or spiders outside, I leave them be.
 
Such a silly question. Of course its right to kill a spider or any bug for that matter. Bugs are icky, disgusting, and quite frankly, the world would be much better without them. I don't hesitate to kill any kind of bug, whether its a spider, fly, ant, or whatever it may be. Sure it's "wrong" to kill any living organism, but we humans are born to kill. It's just the way of our species.

No question is silly.

But this is a pretty weak troll, I've gotta tell ya.
 
Firstly, spiders scare the shit out of me, so I'd rather summon another pair of hands to do the deed than go near it. Now, if it's something like ants that do find their way into the house with a small invasion platoon, THEN there's nothing we can really do except kill them. At least with spiders, I have the option of casting them out through the door or window (and I often ask my helper to do just that because spiders are hierarchically above ants and at least they don't invade the house with a small army when they come in). Often though, my helper does end up killing them anyway.

Now is it right to kill spiders? Well, I can perhaps just about see why people would object to killing them, but frankly, I don't really care enough to have an opinion on this. Just do what you have to do, like what I have to do with ants. I'd save the objections for acts that kill significantly more intelligent creatures whose numbers are nowhere near as high as your average insect or arachnid, like the people who harpoon whales in the East Pacific.
 
depends on how close it gets

easier to smash it and scrape it off in the trash than it is to throw it out

There are plenty of options apart from hunting your own food. If you say you hate how animals are treated, and are still a part of that system when you don't have to be. That makes your comments significantly less valid. Especially when you are refusing to kill spiders but not extending that to many other creatures in your day to day life.
 
I always feel bad when killing them.....but sometimes when they get too close I just do it. And then I apologize to them several times cause I feel like a monster for killing them.......

I think there's something wrong with me. lol.

I've never been a fan of bugs, so I kill every creepy crawly that I run across in my house...whether it be a centipede, silverfish, or spider. I don't care, I hate them all equally.

I don't think bugs serve too many purposes other than to piss me off living in my house (..and yes, I know. They kill other bugs and flies, mosquitoes and etc...which is wonderful but rather unproductive in an enclosed area like one's house :wacky:). Spiders during the summer FREAK ME OUT though...I'll be watching tv late at night in the dark of our living room and I'll see one (and the ones during the summer are bigger than just the run of the mill daddy long legs) running across the living room floor :damon: So I'll pick up the closest thing I can find to kill it...whether it be a slipper, magazine, or dvd :grin:
