I also seen this video, both the original, and the one in chronological order. They did a splendid job with it, and it was very gory. I read that it will be an open world 1st person zombie game (With mostly melee weapons), which I love!!!

That was a great trailer and the music really made it emotional but I can see how there would be controversy over certain bits of it. Anyway that trailer has really got me excited about the game and I hope that the story and gameplay will live up to that impressive trailer and I wonder what all weapons will be in the game apart from melee ones

Fixed your youtube link for you. And I have to admit the reverse trailer was totally awesome. I'm a huge zombie fan, wife actually loves them too. Have quite a few tags on our fridge and a tag or two on our cars.

This to me intrigues me to no end. Last game I played was Left 4 dead 2 (not mine =( ). I'll definitely buy this for the wife.. (hidden agenda of course).

Thanks!

it looks like a real serious zombie game instead of the usual comedy we keep getting.

Yeah, this is the major factor that appeals to me with this game. I kind of grew out of the mindless zombie slaughter phase a few years ago, so a game with depth in both gameplay and story would not go amiss.

I've always been a fan of zombie related games and movies, especially when the focus is upon regular citizens being caught up in the action. For some reason, it's just that much more realistic and satisfying for me instead of playing as a generic soldier.

Same. I have always been a huge fan of zombies and everything related..
However if this game turns out like Dead Rising 2, I have to pass...

I hated that game..I wish I never bought it...its too slowpaced..I want to massacre those zombies and not borefest the shit out of them....as in melee... its like 2 standard moves..oh wait there is actuallly one alternate super attack/move.....well wooptie doo...its LAME and boring...:hmph:

I agree its more realistic if its with mere/plain citizens civillians.., but really I like soldiers/army much more myself.. blasting zombies :griin:

IMO if this turns out an action game it will probably get boring pretty soon..depending on the battlesystem and how sophisticated it is..

If this turns out like some kind of open world rpg it will get awesome :D

If it turns out like a Heavy Rain game it could even be awesome....I just dont think this game will be that awesome if it turns out an action game..

Hope its RPG/open world etc..

Trailer is awesome but trailers usually are.

I thought the creative direction they took with this one was spot on. Sure, it's gory and sure it's controversial because of the child being zombified and the whole being tossed out of a window thing, but that is what makes me want to play it. As someone mentioned above, it seemed more realistic; a family on vacation and this happening to them--brilliant. There are survivors and there are not and it doesn't matter if you're a 9-year-old girl or a fat, 40-year-old tourist. Zombie viruses don't discriminate.

i'm more impressed with the trailer than the actual game itself. there are rumours and talks about it being picked up for a film adaptation, and i think it could be one of the few that works. so far, though, they're nothing more than speculative rumours.

as for the game itself, i probably won't end up buying it. i might borrow it.

I'll admit it's one of the first zombie games that I'm actually interested in, however, whilst the trailer is definitely one of the best I've seen this year - the amount of trailers I've seen which are amazing but then the game turns out to be less than amazing is quite ridiculous. I don't really know anything about the game atm so I'll probably end up waiting on reviews to come in before i make my mind up.

Though I have no interesting in purchasing the game itself, I have to to just say this and give them credit for that trailer, it was brilliant and emotionally captivating. The music with the slow pace and rewind editing was very effective. Showing the holiday clips at the end makes it all the more powerful as well.

Alas, the only zombie game I really play is Resident Evil 5, I tried playing Dead Rising 2, and well, see Ohri's comment for my opinion on it too, you totally nailed the game with that description dude. :lew:

Zombie movies and games and me have a weird relationship. I either love or hate them, haha. I dunno about this one though, it looks like it'll be a little more interesting than others, given a civilian PoV--and not like Dead Rising where the focus was on the absurd.

Didn't attend this year's Comic Con in San Diego? Then you probably didn't get to read the exclusive six-page Dead Island comic that Deep Silver and Marvel put together. But you're in luck! Today the two companies were kind enough to release a free digital version of the comic.
The story was written by Marvel Custom Solutions' William Dailey, and features art by Jorge Lucas, Juan Santacruz, Diego Olmos, Carlos, Rodriguez, and Sergio Arino (with Christian Nauck providing the cover). It tells a bit of backstory for each of Dead Island's four main characters, and should serve as a nice teaser for the game's release on September 9. To read it, just check out Marvel's fancy-pants comic viewer. Be sure to come back next Friday for our review of the game.

So did anyone think Act 2 of this game was incredibly hard? I found myself running half the time due to zero crowd control. My wife who plays the gun specialist and me who plays the knife dude Logan, found ourselves not killing zombies anymore, but running from quest to quest for turn ins. She had a little easier of a time mitigating the masses and taking on Ramers/Spitters. Though I was probably doing my Fury every .. 10-15 minutes so that helped us get through the tough parts.

Act 2 is totally different from Act1 due to the dark settings, closed in streets/sewers, and never ending relentless onslaught of infected type zombies. Walkers... were/are easy. One kick and then slice the limbs off, but when it comes to infected they are faster than any blunt/sharp weapon I have also somehow barely were affected by my kicks. Ramers are pretty easy once you get the technique and have the rights mods. Logan for me, I specialized early into combat and then into Fury. Now I'm trying to get my boomerang to 50% and specing into survival.(throwing weapons return)

My main thing is certain sectors in Act 2 are just unrelenting. Due to we have no tank class like Sam, it is incredibly difficult to maintain crowd control in hordes of 10+ infected. I know in my class I should of gone fury first then survival but I made my mistakes, luckily I speced correctly (somewhat) into combat so now all I need is to get my arse to 35 so I can do splash damage + boomerang.

For now I'll suffer since I'm 27. I'll just keep using my Sharp weapons and rushing into folks.. but of course I'll be the one laying on the ground more.

Oh I completely agree Tyler, me and Lewis got killed loads in there, just wait till later, it'll get even worse in
The Jungle
where it's practically a death sentence to leave settlements without a vehicle :wacky: I am almost out of there and i'm 35, using Xian the blade specialist and have a few good katanas now :ryan: trying to get the medkit and xp bonuses from survival before returning to her fury.

I just bought this yesterday at Gamestop after trading in my copy of XIII for $12 :ohoho: and using the remainder of the balance on my card.

I'm honestly scared about playing it by myself...I hate zombie/horror/survival games...I really only bought it to be able to play it here with some of the members :wacky:

To me, it was either this or Re5 and at least this game looks a bit more interesting. The open island world serves as a much better setup as opposed to wherever Re5 takes place. I'm sure this will appeal to me a lot more than Re5 would have.

Also the visuals and detailing look pretty decent. If anything I'm sure this will be a fun melee slasher game that if I can get over my fears of zombies and things running at me really fast in a game I could really get into :lew:

Ive been enjoying this game alot. ITs very boring playing alone but with a buddy its decent. And agreed tyler the game gets very difficult, a few hits and your dead.
Im not sure how far i am yet but i dont plan on playing again til the weekend when my buddy Draco Malfoy Is available. It sucks by yourself

:damon: sif act two gets that hard!!! Big Casino, I am sorry in advanced for all the dying I will do during act 2 hahaha.

I'm having a lot of fun with this game. I've not played it on my own yet and I don't plan to because I think I'd be too scared. Slicing up zombies with knives and stuff feels oddly satisfying :ryan: I'm actually finding it a bit hard to figure out how to upgrade my character properly and my weapons, I just go along with shite weapons because Lewis and Damon are usually there taking care of the zombies
When they're not trying to kill me instead :ahmed:

Though if Act two gets significantly harder I will probably have to start taking it a little more seriously so I am of some use hahaha.

I completed Dead Island

Tbh the last area was pretty fun though not so difficult aside from the infinite Infected spawning area, the last boss was pretty tough too, killing me in about 2 hits :lew:

The major downside to it's difficulty though was aside from losing money, there wasn't any real challenge to him since I could just respaun and continue hacking him and once I went into Fury he died in seconds :(

That aside though, methinks the ending is possibly alluding to a Dead Island 2 :ohoho:
