Coffee/Caffeine

I only tend to drink coffee while revising for exams, for extra concentration boost, or while panicking over an essay I have to hand in, also for a concentration boost. Occassionally when doing other work, usually still geared towards and assignment of sorts, I'll have coffee, but I don't regularly have it.

Red Bull (or the cheap knock-offs such as Kick or Red Rooster) on the other hand... I rely on that stuff far too much. I need to cut down on that actually as it turns you mad.

I always feel half asleep in the mornings, and throughout most of the day. In fact I haven't felt truly awake for a long time, maybe even years, which is worrying. Perhaps I do need myself some coffee in the morning so that I can function more effectively.

Okay: I drink coffee, lattés, and Diet Mountain Dew a TON.

...however, too much caffeine has given me a bladder condition. :gonk: So now I can't drink them so much anymore. -__-

I don't like coffee or tea, but I like energy drinks way to much. I try to drink other stuff during the day, but I usually still drink 2-4 cans a day. I wish there was a drink that just tasted like energy drink without the caffeine, that would be a lot better for my health.

I have a massive caffiene addiction but I'm not a big coffee drinker - the only time I'll go that route is if I know I'm going to be pulling a real late night with work.

I usually have an energy drink (the only one I like is sugar-free Rockstar) or Diet Coke first thing in the morning and several Diet Cokes/Diet Mountain Dew throughout the day.

I always swore to myself that if I didn't like coffee by the time I hit 20 that I was safe and I'd never like it for the rest of my life...boy was I wrong because at about the age of 19 I realized I can't live without it.

I adore coffee, but I'm not one of those people that absolutely cannot function without it in the morning. If I can get my hands on a cup though, I'm happy. However the run of the mill coffee we have at work just doesn't spark my interest and I only have a cup when I'm really tired or desperate.

When I'm at home and get a chance to run my cute little 4 cup coffee maker I run one of my favorite flavored coffees from Door County Coffee Co. (in flavors like Hot Rum which is Rum + Cinnamon flavored, Jamaican Me Crazy which is Vanilla Rum, Simply Vanilla, Hazlenut creme, or Amaretto) :gonk: or the Daybreak blend from Caribou coffee and pour some in my work thermos to go...or enjoy a pot on my days off.

When I'm on the run I'll sometimes grab the occaisonal Starbucks Caramel Latte or during the fall I get the Pumpkin spice latte.

...recently I got a bean grinder and have been buying coffee beans...and boy you can really taste the difference between the already ground stuff you buy and the beans that you grind and brew. YUM :gasp:

Those of you who have spoken to me here should know that I'm one of the site's major coffee addicts. I probably do exaggerate when I say that I can't function well throughout the day if I haven't had any, but it does help in the morning, especially when I'm still half-asleep and cannot be arsed to do what I was supposed to be doing. Heck, I even buy a couple of cups of coffee in the college's "Starbucks" sometimes, even though to be honest, they're overpriced and awful. Nothing like the real Starbucks at all.

I've started getting into those Frappuccinos in Starbucks now. Beforehand I avoided them because I was dubious at the idea of cold cappuccino. They don't replace my love for actual hot coffee though, and most of the time I sit back with a latte or a mochaccino. Other than coffee, I drink virtually any kind of hot drink, from tea to green tea to even red rose tea. :wacky:

I love coffee though must be said I don't drink anywhere near as much as I used to. Thesedays I have one in morning, couple in the afternoon and couple in the evening. Almost always with or soon after meals. When I have lots of projects to work on or an upcoming deadline and I pull all-nighters, I tend to binge drink it as much as my body can take it. I only have energy drinks like Red Bull as part of Jagerbombs/missiles etc. Dont drink much Coke Cola but I do on hot days or I just fancy a change.

I heard about a guy who snorted a small line of caffine as a cheap alternative to coke to keep himself awake. Haha what a twat. Caffine itself is highly deadly :wacky:

I love coffee and I try to have it almost everyday. I love Cappuccinos a little too much xD. I have the Cappuccino machine so yeah I make it every once in awhile. Usually any type of coffee does for me but I remember trying coffee here. Well not all coffee here is bad but god the one I tried was the worst coffee I ever tasted. Coffee with milk isnt bad either. I mean it certainly beat that coffee in terms of taste. Ugh I remember throwing out cause it was so bad. Never ever going to buy coffee here at that one coffee shop ever again. I have a machine at home and that is all I need. Oh yes and Starbucks is amazing. Cant say I go very often because I just make Cappuccinos at home xD. There are times when I drink Chamomile Tea when I am sick and have a bad throat which is most of the time granted my crappy immune system.

:hmmm:

I can't actually remember or visualise a time that I've had coffee. :hmmm: I don't really drink tea that much either, only when someone says "oh you fancy a cuppa?" and I'll just say yeah go on then.

To be honest, I like the smell of coffee but when I get up in the morning, that last thing I want to drink is something as strong as coffee. I'd rather have orange juice.

I can have coffee on occasion, and I do enjoy it, but I don't really get a craving for it like I do with tea, which has become a real vice of mine since I started drinking it a few years ago.

However, I've recently discovered the joys of iced coffee, and I will say I just can't get enough of that stuff. It's nothing short of intoxicating, and it's set to become an addiction of mine.

As for when I'll drink normal coffee, it's when I get a really bad insomnia hit because actually trying to sleep doesn't really do much against it; you just have to wait it out. So I try to keep the worst symptoms at bay with a cup of coffee after the second or third day. If I'm due an early start, I might go for a cup of instant coffee. I'm not one of those connoisseurs who can tell the difference between Brazilian beans and instant variety.

I rarely have fizzy drinks either. It's kinda a special occasion when we get the soft drinks in. Birthdays, Christmas. Maybe the occasional Easter and Halloween, which really makes them all the more enjoyable when I DO get a few glasses.

I'm so shocked when I see 15 year olds and such complaining when they don't get to have a cup of coffee in the morning.

When they don't get their fix it's like they're on drugs and won't be normal again until they've finally had some. 0_o

It's coffee. It shouldn't be something that you get addicted to like that.

My brothers girlfriend apparently can't even function without a cup in the morning and it's been like that since she was 16.

I've never ever liked the stuff. It smells great but it tastes like crap in my opinion. And I have tried ALOT of different types of coffee.

I've never been one of those people that needs anything in the morning to wake up properly.

Just a shower like most people do in the morning and I'm good to go.

I am a caffeine addict, I can live on coffee for like a few days straight in some variation. It doesn't matter if it's soda, coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, frappes, etc. if it has some caffeine in it than I'm on it. I completely abstain from drinking Red Bull and Monster energy drinks though, mostly because of the horrid taste I associate with those . . . atrocities. So I am picky to an extent but where I get my caffeine from. They taste like fucking piss to me, no thanks, my bf can have 'em if he wants. -_-

But yeah I love caffeine, it helps me stay up and keeps me chipper. It's like my crutch on days where I want to simply pass out from sheer exhaustion. Worst part is that I know how unhealthy it is but I'll still sneak down to the kitchen at like 2 in the morning for an excuse to make a cup of coffee or get some soda for myself. Ugh. Eventually with enough self control I'll ween off of it.

As for my getting jittery? Nope, the absolute dependency hasn't set in yet, mostly because I don't drink it constantly every single day all of the time. I've been drinking coffee since I was fifteen, although the 'rents think it's like the first or second year I've been doing it for. Trick for me not suffering from severe caffeine withdrawal is that I balance this stuff with water and juice or milk or something. Yeah . . . otherwise I'd only drink this stuff, sad right? Lmao. :tl;dr:

EDIT: Holee shite Fluer, now I want Starbuck's . . . damn it. Damn. It. :P

Frappuccinos are excellent, especially on a hot day.

Caffeine addiction is very common actually. People suffer withdrawal symptoms just like with any other addiction. It isn't pleasant.

I've actually been trying to wean myself off coffee lately. As much as I love it, I'm beginning to think the caffeine may be interfering with my sleep. I don't have it every day now but after a few days, I get a massive headache from lack of caffeine so I'll have a cup every other day or so.

Dude . . . I practically breathe coffee.
It's the one thing that brings me joy no matter what circumstance is going on. I've started drinking it when I was around 4 years old, and there have been times where I have taken breaks from it - but I could never completely stop drinking it. Presently, I'm drinking it more than I ever used to (Starbucks after school every other day, at least 2 mugs [4 cups] of coffee at home a day. . .), and my grandpa is predicting the caffeine is going to be an addictive drug to me by the time I'm 20. He says it's my grandma's fault for letting me begin drinking it at such a young age, but hey - even if she hadn't, I probably would have discovered it sooner or later in time, and nothing would be different than the way things are with coffee now .
:wacky:

Cant remember what I last posted in here, but Im drinking alot more coffee lately, I think I actually prefer it to tea these days, I never used to like it either. I tend to just have 2 or 3 cups a day, usually 2 coffes and a cup of tea... its since going back to work, Ive turned into a brew monster

The only drink I tend to have that has caffeine in it is tea. I have the odd bottle of coke now and again but it's not often. Even then I only have caffeine if it's to stay awake to a certain time that's quite late on at night, if I don't need to stay awake I tend not to drink anything that has caffeine in at all.

Well I guess I actually have quite a bit of caffeine over the course of one day, but I'm not really addicted I just like the taste of the things that contain it. I normally have two cups of coffee a day, one when I wake up and one just after my main meal of the day. Then I'll have maybe four or five cups of tea in the day, and during college I'll have at least one can of coke most days, sometimes more.

Ive had to rely on coffee today to stop me starving to death, i forgot my dinner so ive been filling myself up on coffee. Kinda works too amazingly, now I know why its a staple of an anorexic... not sure even Im daft enough to try a coffee diet... though I must admit, it did cross my mind for next time I need to fit into a dress of doom :wacky:

I only drink coffee once or twice a year, so I think I'd fit into the category of a non coffee drinker. Coffee actually tastes pretty good to me but I just don't buy it often.
I also don't' rely on any other caffeine stimulants, but I do drink soda once every few days (not for the caffeine).

OMGG I love coffee, I think its because my dad works in the coffee industry, and when he'd come home from work he would smell of coffee and because I was a daddy's girl it brings back good memories :D

I don't really have a favourite flavour, I will drink about any coffee so long as it has milk and sugar in it as well.

I don't actually find that caffeine keeps me awake. I can have it before bed and go to sleep straight away D:
