We've just got our hands on a 28-page preview of the Final Fantasy XIII strategy guide, showing off the aesthetics and content of the official companion that will arrive alongside the game on March 9th.

The preview shows off several pages from different sections of the guide to show you what to expect, and we've uploaded them all for you all to check out below.

The guide is set to come in two different versions - a Limited Edition and a Standard Edition. Check out the images of the guide preview below!

The standard edition features the guide in paperback, but the special edition is in full hardback and is sequentially numbered - they're not printing many of them! Both the Special and Standard editions are Up for Preorder at Amazon.

Nice, looks clean and such. I'll probably get the paperback though. No need for hardcovers.

I may get the hardcover just because it's pretty. :jess:

And since it's only $20 at Amazon, it's relatively affordable as well.

I LOVE Piggyback guides! They're always so polished, and the FFXIII one is going to be no exception by the looks of things.
I've ordered the hardback version, since it dropped into a nice price range, and I don't want a tacky front cover on my guide as well as my game...

The walkthrough looks good on first impressions. It seems to be well detailed and thorough. I always buy guides for games I like, especially Final Fantasy and I will be getting this one. Not keen on hardback, probably go for paperback to be honest.

:hmmm: There are a lot of... very straight maps.

It does look fantastic though. Most of the guides I've seen for FF do anyway.

I probably won't pick it up though. You can get all the information that these guides have for free on gamefaqs.com anyway. :griin:

Damn, I can't even read it because I can't spoil myself with the story. I've been doing so good for the past two months, I can't give it up now...

Also, they keep the no-random-battles enemy encounter system, which was the thing I liked most about FFXII. So now I'm even more stoked. God, I know this game isn't going to reach my expectations because they're so astronomically large, but I can't help myself.

A preview of a preview :awesome:

I've just ordered the hardback version off Amazon just now. For some reason I don't think it'll be "limited", I'm sure stores just say that to make sure people buy the most expensive one :wacky:

Oh it is - a preview of a preview! xD

That sounds like whenever we have to wait for a release date announcement of a game! :lew:

I don't know if I'm going to get one of these yet. I'd love to have the hardback version - but with all the games I want to get, I'm really tight when it comes to money nowadays.

I'll see what Amazon has it as.

The one I just ordered on Amazon then was £14.99 with free shipping, there was something at the top as well saying if the price goes down before it comes out of the "pre-order" mode then you'll get it for the cheapest price :hmmm:

Can almost smell the paper XD
Looks nice, crisp and clean. Good layout as the Piggybacks usually do. Im grabbing the hardback, hopefully the spine will last longer.

The guide does look quite good. However, that's only because it's hardback. In paperback it's about the same as any other guild.

We lol'd at the "exploration basics" part.

Implying that there is any exploration in this game... That's just funny. :XD:

Meh, who cares though? We're not playing this trainwreck of a game. :mokken:

Is this the mini guide that's a Pre order bonus at gamestop and Eb games?

No, it's an official guide of the game that is sold separately. It's a full, detailed guide through the game, sidequests etc.

Other FF games have had the same guides as well.

Actually, it is. I remember Fusionist posting this as a Canada pre-order bonus.

I don't think that's the case in the UK though...at least I don't remember it being that way. :hmmm:

I'll need to check with Ryan on that one though. But when it comes to things outside of the UK, I'm not too sure on that.

Reserve Final Fantasy XIII and receive a 32-page mini strategy guide. This mini guide contains direct samples from Piggyback’s 260-page, complete guide to Final Fantasy XIII. Available for store customers only, while supplies last.

In-Store Pickup / Store Customers: Mini strategy guide will be available at time of reservation.

I'm not too sure, I suppose it depends on whether the decision comes to Square Enix themselves or the retailers. All being said we get shit all anyway so we probably won't get it >.>
