Here we go again! Final Fantasy developer Square Enix continuing mentioning "Final Fantasy VII" and "remake" in the same breath.

Previously, Final Fantasy VII character designer mentioned the prospects of a FFVII remake, and then FFVII game director Yoshinori Kitase mentioned how he was never tired of answering questions about FFVII remakes. Now?


When asked by game site Siliconera which game FFXIII director Motomu Toriyama would want to remake, he replied, "That would be Final Fantasy VII!"

"If we had the manpower and the time to work on a project, if we were to remake Final Fantasy VII with the quality of Final Fantasy XIII it would become a tremendous project," Toriyama continued. "If we can get the number of people we need by all means that would be the one I would really want to remake."


In 2006, Square Enix released a "technical demo" depicting Final Fantasy VII as it would look in the PlayStation 3. The game was originally released on the PlayStation 1 in 1997.

Oh good God. Why? WHY are they pouring themselves into this crap when they should be focussing on something new? They've killed the franchise with prequels and sequels all over the place. For God's sake. Work on Agito, Versus and XIV. Hell, work on XV for God's sake!

If they just gave it five or six years to calm down and not be such a fucking joke, they could do it then without complaint from me. Hell, I'd buy it. But all this will they won't they bullshit is ridiculous.

Even though I hate the fucking game, if they actually kept it true to the original and had an overworld and classic gameplay, I would be interested for the soul fact that I can call bullshit on Final Fantasy XIII and them being too lazy to make towns.

However, if it would be made by the director of Final Fantasy XIII... Enjoy your now linear shitfest and shitty button mashing gameplay. :rofl:
 
If you ask me, I wouldn't bother with anymore FFVII remake related articles that do not give anything concrete. We've seen too many of these "I wanna remake it but we can't now!" articles that it's just become so irritating. Let it die please. If you haven't the manpower or the capabilities at the moment, forget it. Make the goddamn Versus and Agito playable sometime soon.

NO. After FFXIII, Toriyama shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a video game. Not even just to PLAY it. His tongue and eyes should be gouged out, and Square Enix staff should be busy digging a hole so they can hand him over to Satan personally and make sure he gets what he deserves.

An FFVII remake would be bad enough - I'm getting sick of Square Enix constantly talking about it and doing nothing else, either do it or shut up about it already - but TORIYAMA remaking FFVII or having any part in it would be like...you know, I don't think there IS a scenario worse than that, actually. Its beyond words.

Let him WANT to do it, by all means. But don't let him act on it, PLEASE. Square Enix are going to hell as it is. That would truly be the final nail in the coffin.

If they had some common sense, they should realize that they need to stop trying to cash in on a game that was released years ago, and try to figure out how to save their sinking franchise. They can only beat the horse so long before it dies, and I'd wager that (unless the fanboys are really that fucking stupid) the horse only has a couple of hits left in it.

That, and it really wouldn't be fair to the fans of FFV and FFVI if they didn't get their shitty remakes first.

an interviewer asked him a question and he gave an honest answer. he would LIKE to make a remake of the game, but he doesn't think it's feasible at this time

what is so wrong with saying that

As much as I WISH there was going to be a remake, I think SE is just using this crap to, as Channi said, jerk us around. They're not respectful to their fans, so why would they listen to what they want?

Also, I'm not so sure I want some off of FFXIII's developers list to help remake one of the greatest games of all time. :rage:

Haha, legend. You're damn right, these Ifs are getting incredibly boring.

Mind, I agree with Jeer too, before they remake FF7 (Face it, it will be done), I want to see a Agito and Versus released first, the build up to them games have been going for too long.

Tbh though, I would like to see an FF7 remake eventually. I feel a little less overwhelmed by it now, and I think I'll be ready for it soon.
 
It has been said many times before but I am getting really sick of all these hints.

It is one thing that annoys me about Square-Enix, the WAITING. They mention/announce games WAY before they are completed *cough* Versus *cough* and the fans are left waiting for ridiculous amounts of times.

I am still conflicted as to whether I want a remake of something or a new game though...hmm
 
You know what? By this time, as much as I've been wanting a Final Fantasy VII remake, this doesn't even begin to excite me anymore. At all. :|

It has turned into just some giant farce... The original game was released thirteen years ago, does anybody here honestly think after the teasing and all this back and forth of "it is possible", "its not going to happen" and now the quickly growing old "I really want to make a remake!" with a plethora of "if" mixed in with all of these, that I even take it seriously anymore? :gasp:

And all their ifs are a bunch of lies... They have staff to work on it, they have time (it wouldn't take some two decades, that's just crazy talk...) to work on it, and real big shocker here (dun dun dun!), Square-Enix has enough money to remake Final Fantasy VII... >_>'
 
I think this is stupid. If it was made by Final Fantasy XIII's director it would be hell for sure. I really do not have anything to say of this matter. I will just say that XIII was not the worst but it had flaws. VII was excellent(overhyped though) I hate that they just like VII and dont care for the other FF's.. So I say no to this.
 
They want more and more popularity for something they already made (that is, needless to say, already overrated.). When I look for a FF game, I try to look for the most original copy of it as possible (like I want Final Fantasy Origins for PS1 rather than FFI and FFII for the PSP) because to me the original is the best play. If they do make a remake, chances are I'm not going to touch it, since the first released game has most likely satisfied me enough. I'm not sure about it being re-made by a totally different director, but I'll just have to sit quietly and watch. Shouting out my opinion at Square Enix probably won't stop their efforts.

I still think they're going to do it.They stand to make more money off a FFVII remake than off a new game in my opinion.

I don't think they would do it until after Verses and Agito anyway.
I'm not in favor of a remake but I expect them to do one just the same.

Its not that th guy would make it like FFXIII which would have been story boarded and set out in a linear fashion and could possibly do the same thing to my/our beloved FFVII and wreck any remake that comes to pass?

Its that the guy has no credibility.................if any one else at S-E had said this we might not be griping and channi would not be yelling, FFXIIII was technical masterpiece for sure, but it was all for naught if no one liked it............much.

Like any FF game they only get 1 shot at a remake and the original crew from las century must involved............and if if this involves Toriyama give him a flashlight and a yen for some coffee and put hiim on the security staff just get him the hell away from my............sorry.......our remake!
