Don't. Don't ruin something we cherish dearly. It's fun to put in a 3 disc game and giggle at the graphics we once thought were amazing. Please don't ruin it by making it look nice.

Ash Riot, I totally get what you're saying. Having XI and XIV as numerical installations in the series when they're both MMO's was so disappointing, albeit smart on SE's part. To randomly throw in a filler game while they develope the more mainstream ones. However it would have been a lot better off for everybody if they just named them like.. FF Online.. And went from there. Why waste numerical numbers on filler MMO? Just to try and please us while it takes them nearly 5 years to push the next title from the last numerical RPG.

Im a huge proponent off giving future FF releases Names instead consecutive numerical releases............they should have names instead of numbers.

I think FFXV should be the last numbered title in the Series, after this it would get just a little bit silly to call a game FFVIXX IMO, its not needed a title can separate a sries as good as any number.

Final Fantasy: Spirits with in..........bad example.

Final Fantasy: Revenant Wings.......good example, of a title not the game.

Just spouting an idea.

What do we do when it gets to FFXXX?

I am down with whatever they throw at me. I am sick of Namco fucking Tales of Vesperia release....hope S-E would keep me busy in the meantime...

...

You know what. I actually don't think Squeenix is at fault this time. Siliconera asked the guy a question, and he answered quite honestly. If you're going to bang your heads against desks and facepalm, do it at the interviewers who keep asking them about the FFVII remake. It isn't a crime to say 'yes, i'd like to remake FFVII', not at all. What, you want SE to tell all their staff to hush hush about it? I would think the company gives their employees free speech on any would-be projects that aren't on the planner.

You being annoyed at all these tidbits isn't their fault, at least not this time, it's the people who keep asking, as well as you for continuing to click on threads like this. I see pages of nothing but 'oh not again' 'facepalm' 'why won't they stop already' - as if you have no control over what you choose to view. I find THAT more annoying than the FFVII remake teases.

It is Square-Enix's fault when every time one of their staff is interviewed about the subject they contradict either themselves from earlier interviews or another member of staff, which then leads on to questions about it at every other interview.

That being said, it still doesn't excuse the bullshit about not having enough "manpower" or "time".

as far as i'm aware, Toriyama said he -wanted- to remake FFVII, not that there were plans for it or that it's a definite yes. It's his own opinion. And think about this: if SE stopped all their staff from talking about FFVII, the media would still pummel them with questions. "hey what about an FFVII remake?" "could you give us any info on a FFVII remake in the works?".

Realize that it is NOT just Squeenix's fault for continuing these charades, it's the fans and the media too. It takes two to tango, and of course the media's going to ask questions relevant to the fans' interests. So far i've only seen moaning and crying about how Squeenix continues to 'feed' them teasers when it could be that the guy just honestly answered the interviewer's question as an FFVII fan.

No one is forced to answer the question. Neither does it excuse all the contradictions that they feed the fans, because to be honest, it sounds like no one within the company has a clue where a remake stands. They should focus themselves on making a good game for once anyway, rather than worry about a remake. :dave:

I would buy a remake of this FF, one remake and nothing else :awesome:

I kind of want to hear why people are so opposed to this, other than "I'm sick of final fantasy VII! Let it go! Make new games!".

Umm... don't play it then?

Am I missing something here? There has been no contradictions, it has never been said that the remake was going to happen. Just some staff want to do it, some don't, and some are in the middle, what is hard to understand about that?

They are being as honest as they can about what's going on in terms of the remake.

Those were valid counter-assertions that you just mentioned. Is a FFVII remake really that necessary? In my view, not really. You can say though that remaking FFVII will rake in a lot of profit (and it certainly well), but the rest of us would rather just see that devotion and time used on a new project, one that is really needed to repair SE's rather damaged position after their most recent and controversial FF games. FFVII itself is already widely available and still a great game thanks to PSN. And I certainly wouldn't really bother playing a remake because I've already played the game through enough times. The thought of HD graphics doesn't really convince me enough.

I'm not that opposed to it however. SE is free to do the remake, but I wouldn't be enthusiastic about it at all. In a way if they do eventually do a remake, that's a triumph to some extent. It would finally show that SE is listening to the majority of its fanbase (or has finally realised they're sitting on a goldmine depending on how cynical you are).

Nomura said it's unlikely then a few weeks later someone else says they think it'll happen then the next week Wada says they'll look into then it's not going to happen then someone would like to make it, then it's not going to happen because they don't have the "manpower".

Like I said, they don't have a clue. It's no wonder they're developing shite games, they aren't even on the same wave length. Wada just needs the boot.

No one's forced to answer? Oh please. So you'd rather they give rehearsed, dodge-the-question responses? All of the comments on the remake have been opinions, except Nomura and Wada, who both said things along the lines of 'maybe it's possible' but nothing conclusive. 'They should concentrate on making good games' is an ineffectual comment considering we all have different opinions on what a 'good' game is.

That's because it's not on their development calendar. Some would like to do it, some have no opinion, some don't want to, some are realists and would rather devote resources to other things. But it's not on their calendar. They know exactly where it is on the priority list - it isn't. Otherwise they really would shut up about it. I disagree that they've made shite games recently, but we're allowed to have our opinions. I find the Wada comment funny, I personally don't care about him, just gimme a game to play.

Aren't there far better projects to focus on rather than a remake? Versus and Agito XIII for example? Besides, I already see this as a way of them building up hype and then later send the hype crashing down. When it finally dies down, it starts back up again... I can't take this news seriously at all. I would prefer it if Square Enix would just either remake it or just quiet down about the idea completely.

No one's forced to answer? Oh please. So you'd rather they give rehearsed, dodge-the-question responses?
It's not difficult to dodge an answer, or y'know, they could actually say the words "we have no plans for it" instead of all this bullshit about how "it would take 3/4 times longer to make than FFXIII" or how they "don't have the manpower" or they "don't have the money"

All of the comments on the remake have been opinions, except Nomura and Wada, who both said things along the lines of 'maybe it's possible' but nothing conclusive
.
Exactly, nothing conclusive. So it IS there fault for the questions. They either do have plans or don't, there's no 'middle' stage.

'They should concentrate on making good games' is an ineffectual comment considering we all have different opinions on what a 'good' game is.
Final Fantasy XIV has been destroyed by public reviews, Final Fantasy XIII was ripped apart in Japan and was largely a disappointment in the Western eye, Square-Enix themselves had to release official statements explaining mediocre reception, even Wada AND Kitase have commented on it, Final Fantasy XII had a weak storyline, no development etcetc, Final Fantasy X-2 was largely hated.

That's because it's not on their development calendar
Why don't they say this then?

some are realists and would rather devote resources to other things.
Ie, spending shit loads of money on pretty CGI scenes -coughFFXIII/FFXIV-cough-

But it's not on their calendar. They know exactly where it is on the priority list - it isn't. Otherwise they really would shut up about it.
It's not on their calender and it isn't on a priority list, so they won't shut up about it or just actually say it isn't. Makes sense.

I find the Wada comment funny, I personally don't care about him, just gimme a game to play.
It's funny because Wada is killing the company, if he ever ONCE stops to realise that it isn't about westernising titles or about globalisation maybe they'll start to take a step in the right direction. Maybe.

WHY OH WHY........SE do you have to bring this up again? :rage:

SE are just like to chat shit all the time......I mean all you goota say is "yes we are going to remake the game" or "No we are not" Instead they just say shit like "oooh that would be intresting","I wanna remake FFVII" etc etc.

and even the fans they need to shut the fuck up with these fucked up questions.........It was so obvious if you ask that to an SE staff they would say FFVII.

Of course I'd love an FFVII remake but they either make it or don't.........it's just a yes or no answer........

I WAS A WHALE
Oh man, I do NOT want to get into a pointless debate about the state of Square-Enix with you @_@. My original post was directed at everyone BAAAWWWing about an SE employee answering a question on the FFVII remake. I'm going to keep it confined to that. The dude's allowed to answer even if you don't want to hear it. Everything else that you say about the company, I'm not going to debate. I know that multi-quote format all too well and it leads to nowhere but a headache.

In my opinion there would be no purpose to remake VII other than to upgrade the graphics and game play by today's standard. I'd rather play the original VII for the Playstation 1 than to buy a Playstation 3 just to play a remake for upgraded graphics (Because I'm almost certain this would be a Playstation 3 exclusive if made) because the original is fine just the way it is, unless you care that much about graphics which I never have.

I won't complain though if it's made by the same people who made the original.

"If we had the manpower and the time to work on a project, if we were to remake Final Fantasy VII with the quality of Final Fantasy XIII it would become a tremendous project,"

the worst part ringo, is that I think he actually thinks FFXIII was a good game.

<insert pistol whipping blind kid comparison and further mocking here>
