I like the idea. I mean, let's be honest... SOTW isn't THAT serious that you would need to worry about people having the upper hand. It's just a casual competition.

Also, IMO, I don't think many people exercise their freedom in their entries anyway. Obviously, it's just my opinion but, I hardly see anything original or creative in SOTW entries. They look nice but it's all very 'safe'. Working with a chosen stock will push people to try something new.
 
You do have a point there too, Graye, Vikki and I have noticed that a lot of the broader themes get more entries, while those which are more imaginative get less entries. :hmmm:

I'm thinking of throwing a theme like "Emulate another GFXer" or something out there one week too, since it would be interesting to see people attempt each other's styles, and then see how many people guess who is attempting who :lew:

Exactly. I know that a few of us wanted more 'creative' themes in SOTW, yet when they come up, almost no one enters. I've been guilty of that myself and now that's the summer holiday, I'm going to try and enter even those difficult themes where an image doesn't instantly pop into my head.

Like Lewis said, as long as the stocks are broad in terms of variety so that it's fair and they are HQ, then I'll for it.

How about if everyone who submits a stock for SOTW 150 has to send in both an anime stock and a non-anime/non-cartoon stock? Then when the person sending the request for the stock can say whether they want anime or non-anime, so everyone has a chance to play their strengths, as well as it being a surprise.

Same here. :ffs: I find myself stuck most of the time when there's a SOTW I really want to enter, it's because I wanna do something different but it doesn't work out. Excuses, excuses, I should enter more, period. I just might starting next week or so... :hmmm: I'm in a slump, so this might help.

you can also make 2 threads @ 1 subject.

like 1 thread for Anime stocks and 1 for non anime/cartoon.

or 1 thread with 1 anime and 1 normal and put them under eachother in 1 thread so people can see if that person is better in animes or non anime.

like this people got some more work to do and for the Photoshoppers who aint that good they get some nice practise.

Or maybe, SOTW 150 can have two voting threads. "SOTW 150 : Real Life Stocks" and "SOTW 150 : Anime Stocks" since, those who like anime tags will always vote anime, and those who prefer real life stocks, will always vote real life. :hmmm:
 
Giving someone a choice of stocks kinda defeats the purpose of getting a random one and having to use it. You could be lucky and get what you're comfortable with or unlucky and try something new. The whole 2 threads thing sounds a bit confusing etc.
 
Make it anime stocks next week or another time, and use real people this time around or whatever.
 
I only have 1 AOTW entry, however, I have two people who say they'll work on ones for me, so I'll stick up AOTW as and when I receive those entries :gasp:

On another note, is there a limit on how many stocks we can send in?

Whoever chose the stock that I have to use for SOTW 150 should like...jump off a cliff. :neomon:
