Did it bother anyone else that Serah looked like she was only about 12 years old? The scenes between her and Snow were awkward for me because it made Snow look like a pedo XD. And it wasn't like an adult who looks a little younger, she really looked like a little girl. (The school uniform outfit didn't help either)

How old was she supposed to be?
 
Serah's 18, and before Final Fantasy XIII took place, was set to attend the University of Eden. But I definitely agree she doesn't look that age, I thought she was about 15/16 and far too young to be engaged to Snow. I liked the outfit though since I prefer realism which is why the concept of Versus XIII is more appealing to me. :wacky:

Lymle from Star Ocean: The Last Hope has to be the worst, that kid looks about about 6 (literally!) yet she's 15.
 
I have no idea how old she was supposed to be, but i had the same feeling throughout the game, it was rediculous, i mean come on alot of guys do go for younger girls, but he looks like 30 and she looks like 13. . . its rediculous.

and with snow always comming out with "I'm the hero" and lines of the like, it made it look worse as in "I'm the Hero, and im so heroic my missus is 13. . . we met when i pulled her out of a burning building"
 
I think that she was meant to be about 16-18. No younger than that, and not much older than that either.

Some girls of that age can look very young. Serah being very small and having a young face does make her seem a bit more like a child when placed next to Snow, who himself looks considerably older in his appearance, and also acts like a confident older guy who has had lots of experience.

I think that the outfit really appeals to those people who really love young Japanese girls who dress in school uniforms. Serah herself is old enough to be getting married to Snow though. She just looks younger than she is.
 
I would have to agree with you. Loads of people said she looked awfully young. I think she looks about 15/16. Vanille looked young too....minus one obvious womanly feature. Snow is also the jolly green giant compared her...which I don't think really helps. Anyways, this is what I found off the Final Wiki:

Serah Farron (セラ・ファロン Sera Faron) [sɛrə] is a supporting character in Final Fantasy XIII. She is the younger sister of Lightning by three years, and is also Snow Villiers' fiancée. Lightning accuses Snow of failing to protect Serah and does not initially approve of their relationship. Serah's destiny is one of the game's central plot points. She is voiced by [SIZE=+0]Minako Kotobuki[/SIZE] in the Japanese version, and by [SIZE=+0]Laura Bailey[/SIZE] in the English version.

Apparently Lightning was 21 in FFXIII ...so that would make Serah 18. I wasn't keen on the way they dressed her either....they dressed her very young...which made her look even younger. She looks too school girl.

It didn't bother me, but it did look particularly odd when the pair of them are together. I'm not fully sure what Nomura was thinking when he created such a noticeable size difference between the two characters. I've noticed the direct antithesis between Lightning and Serah in terms of outfits too. I think that in trying to design Serah as being the more vulnerable younger sister of Lightning, Nomura just made her look too much of a child to portray this.

I think it's rather common that female characters look younger than what their age suggests - particularly if you're talking about Japanese media. And let's not forget as Dan said, that girls can also in real life look younger than their actual age. Myself for starters. xD
 
Serah was designed very well. SE said she is the cutest Final afnatasy character ever. It is pretty much true. Pfft she is 18 ya I cant really tell between 16-18 if you becom older though. You kind of look like the same thing still. She is really cute though. I love her design. Like I loved Serah since the first time she was revealed. I dont know what it is about her but she is just the really pretty cutsie girl xD. She did not look 13-14 at all. At least to me xD As for her and Snow paired up... It was not that bad. Snow wasnt THAT much older than her so it worked out. I would have loved to see some more of Serah though. The scene with Snow and Lightning in gran pulse was a very beautiful and powerful one, though Something like that should have been done with Serah.
 
I agree that Serah doesn't look her age. I love Serah myself, but to me, she looks at least between the ages of 14-15. It made looking at her and Snow together kinda... odd because he looks alot older than she does.

I love her design and all, I just think Nomura could have designed her to look a little more like an 18 year old so when Snow and Serah were together, it wouldn't look as strange.
 
Snow just looked old because of hid beard (only in CGI cutscenes) and his height..........

But really if she was older......it kinda woulda fucked up things seeing as Lightning is older,therefore the over-protective sister of her.They probably should f put her a little taller just below Lightning...........then Snow probably wouldn't look as bad as a paedo as he is now.


But as the story went through I don't think Lightning really cared for her as Snow did anyway.........
Lightning was more bothered about getting rid of the l'cie mark rather than saving Serah.
 
It's interesting to me how people noticed this and were actually bothered. I didn't even realize how young she looked until people pointed it out. Is it even possible for people to take a break from being shallow? Serah is mature as fuck for her age, and for someone like me (someone who sees character, not appearance), it's hard to see passed that. But I think that the sound of her voice contributed to my being able to easily see her as however old she is.

I was even able to look at Vanille like she was 19 whenever she would express her strong or emotional sides. I'm just sayin
 
I agree with her being "the cutest Final Fantasy character ever", she just looks so adorable, and tiny, and young, and so... huggable. xD She looks like such a little girl, so the parts with Snow were pretty awkward. Her design doesn't bother me. I remember guessing her age, saying she was 17 so that Snow doesn't looks like such a pedo, but I knew that was a stretch, apparently that's about correct. :O

I think Square dresses most of their characters look younger than they really should be to make them seem more "attractive" and "cool". All the females from the past, what, 4 games?--have been wearing really short shorts and skirts. I was getting sick of all these teenage heroes and then I discovered that they're actually older than I thought they were. So Serah looks like she's 13 when she's 18, she could go get hitched or something and it wouldn't seem unexpected, you know what I mean? It doesn't bug me.

Um, were not being shallow. We just noticed that she looks like a little kid and where she is supposed to be 18 years old. In Japan, little school girls are considered very attractive. And often older business men sleep with these girls who are about the age of 13. There is a mutual trade off because the girls see sleeping with these men as a right of passage. I was wondering if SE was going for that as a way of making her sexy. Instead of making her a 13 year old school girl to avoid controversy, they made her look 13 and said she was 18. So if that were the case, then SE would be the shallow ones.

Think of it this way. In IX, what if they decided that Eiko and Steiner should be a couple because Eiko was little and cute. But to avoid the controversy, they said that Eiko was 18 years old and an adult.
 
Serah's age and the fact that she looks young didn't really bother me at all. However I thought her and Snow looked a bit odd together coz he looks like the Incredible Hulk compared to her.....Can you imagine them in bed together though? I bet he'd crush the poor girl.:confused:
 
What? I thought Serah looked very much like her age. O.O. She didn't look too young at all for me, in fact she was perfect. I loved her character design the most out of all the characters. Her skirt and top along with vest seemed to be very fashionable and appealing. No 12 year olds I know dresses the way she does, nor do they carry themselves the way she does.

Serah seemed to be the perfect fit for her age group. I think her and Snow, who was obviously older, getting married was a little rushed and yea while it was rushed, it's love and it's the romance of the story so....yea... I really like Serah the most though. Her voice was calming, her outfit stylisgh, her personality human. She was my absolute number one favorite FFXIII character
 
I quite like Serah, but I do agree that she looks younger than she actually is.
I think the school uniform attire doesn't help her case much either, although I think it could just be the fact that Snow may look so much older than her in comparison it stands out more.

It's nothing major i'd say though, if they thought it'd spark controversy they probably wouldn't have wanted to make it any worse.
 
Square has a little bit of an obsession with turning wet behind the ears 17-18 year olds into brides..

However, I thought she looked her age too.
 
I was not suprised to find out what Serah's exact age is, but I did not think that she looks terribly younger than she is. She looks like her actual age in my opinion.
 
I actually didn't notice all that much until my brother made a joke about it when Snow was trying to be all romantic with her. Boy it would suck for them if they were in America Snow'd never hear the end of it. I personally thought she looked like a smaller version of Lighting so I could see the family resemblance. Whether or not it's just me remains to be seen.
 
I honestly wasn't surprised by Serah's real age tbh :hmmm:. She definitely looks like she's 15 or 16, but still, not that far away from her real age. I was actually surprised by her actual character design. Compared to Vanille, her clothing is a bit "less" than Vanille's. But with that in mind, I still don't mind it. She has a stylish look, and, well yeah. :wacky:
