Michael Jackson Dead

My younger sister actually woke me up at 6am this morning just to tell me this. -__- I just went back to sleep.

Now that I'm thinking properly, I guess it was pretty shocking for him to suddenly die of a heart attack. Was it ever reported that he had an illness? I should really start watching more television. >_> He'll be missed, of course. Even if he went a little crazy at times, his music was really catchy and popular, so he had a lot of fans.

This is of course, if he really IS dead. :ffs:

How about paying respects to the soldiers who died serving your country? Nobody gives a flying fuck when that's on the news. They just get on with their day. MJ dies and everyone are acting like he was God or something.

Agreed.

And guys what I said before was because I didn't actually know he was dead. It wasn't until 12pm that I learned it was true and despite me saying that stuff.. I actually DO LIKE MJ. Not once did I state that I didn't. I just poked fun towards him because it was a spur of the moment.

I grew up listening to him and everything and honestly, I'm still in shock right now. I can't actually believe MJ is gone..

well at least he left something GREAT BEHIND THAT NOBODY HAS MENTIONED!

...MICHEAL JACKSON'S MOONWALKER! That was released on Sega.. man that game was super fun 83

Btw, I don't actually believe in the Media. It's why I don't watch tv anymore. I found this info all out second hand. :P

Pretty crazy stuff, it's our generation's 'Elvis dying' (or even John Lennon dying) moment I guess. You'd be hard pressed to find another musician apart from maybe Paul McCartney whose death will cause this much attention. It's all rather surreal.

I loved Michael Jackson, he will always be one of the greatest entertainers that ever lived.

I mean this in the nicest possible way, but he was a freak of nature. Most geniuses are utterly weird in some way. Perhaps he is better off where he is now, most people had already made their minds up about him.

I never watch T.V or listen to the radio so I found out at work.

Then people kept texting me all day. Who cares really unless you think the person your telling or texting cares...why bother wasting your credit?

I've already heard a few jokes today, one of which made me laugh:

Farrah Fawcett died and upon meeting God she was granted one wish.
She thought for a while and then said, "I wish for all of the children in the world to be safe and free from harm."
So God killed Michael Jackson.

That's probably a tad off, but ever since learning of MJ's actions towards certain kids, I've not really cared for him.

This goes for anyone. Who cares if they changed a particular genre of music?

If they didn't like being abused as a child (if it is true he was abused) and they know of the pain it brought later on, then clearly they know it's wrong and they aren't just acting on what they've grown up with or whatever. They're doing it because they like to touch little kids and that is all.

So yeah. Don't like him, like his music.

Where the hell are the kids mothers?

Wow. I really didn't see that coming. I'm not particularly affected by it, I wasn't a big fan of Michael Jackson, but death is death, which is always unfortunate.

Putting Jade Goody in the same category as Michael Jackson is ludicrous for a start, one was a nonentity, the other was one of the most famous musicians that has ever lived.

And all this 'oh why don't people mourn the soldiers that die etc' nonsense. Let's make a distinction here - I am not weeping over Michael Jackson's death, and I think getting upset over it is silly. Even if my favourite musician or football player died tomorrow, I might be sad but I wouldn't go nuts. But of course people are going to talk about stuff like this, as I said this is teh most famous death of a musician since John Lennon died. And of course Michael Jackson's death will attract a lot of attention, he sold millions of records and was widely known and was one of the most influential people in the music business. There are probably people in the middle of the Amazon rainforest who knew who Michael Jackson was. A soldier that dies is a tragedy for those around him but you can't expect the outside world to pick up on it. Does it suck that the world is like this? Maybe. But that is how it is and pontificating about dead soldiers is just pointless if you ask me.

Personally I don't really care, he was going to die someday afterall. I didn't know him and I didn't like his music that much.

I'm all for respect for the dead and everything, but it really does annoy me when people get so cut up about someone they haven't even met dieing because they like their music or films or whatever. It's pathetic. Pay your respects - fine. Stop acting as if he was your fucking brother or something.
In a way it is pathetic but at the same time it is sort of understandable. If I was a huge fan of a certain persons music I would be pretty annoyed that I wouldn't be able to hear any new shit from them or see them live. But I do find it quite annoying when people take it too far.

Furthermore, I'd like to add that MJ was well past his prime. Besides that tour he was planning to do, it seemed like he had disappeared from the Media's spotlight in the years leading to his death (excluding the jokes at his expense). He was remembered for his old stuff and always will be. So I don't think his death will really make a difference, if he wasn't planning to do that tour he may as well of been dead anyway.

To put it simply, people knew who MJ was. No one gives a fuck about the soldier who gets a 40 second story on the news. Everyone knows that people get killed in wars, It's to be expected. It is quite possible that someone in this world will die tomorrow, but I won't care because I (hopefully) would've never met them.

People will miss MJ for thier own reasons no matter how pathetic they may seem because they knew who MJ was and they knew that he left an impact on the (musical) world.

It's a fucked up world we live in. Everyone is more concerned about who we see on the TV or hear on the radio than they are of those who protect our nations, or prevent crime, or save people's lives.
I agree it is fucked up, but meh..what can ya do?

He is most certainly dead x_x; I don't know why everyone's calling it a stunt, that's just being in denial -_-

Shame tbh. :ness:
Amen to that!

charliepanayi sums it up pretty well so I won't go into details but that's prety much my thoughts on this as well. I mentioned this in the Jade Goody thread a while back but it's the general public that makes the media what it is today. There's no point getting rage over how the media covering this, if it's bothering you that badly then just ignore it.

Was a bit of a holy shit moment for me when I found out last night, I know he's not been shown in the best light in recent times but I'm still a fan of his music which is what I'll mostly remember him for.

R.I.P. MJ.

Paul McCartney whose death will cause this much attention. It's all rather surreal.
No love for Ringo?:gasp:

I wouldn't be upset if a million soldiers died, then again I wouldn't be upset if a million Michael Jacksons died either. Neither of them really has any influence on my life. Michael Jackson stopped making music that I liked therefore whatever happened to him was of no real interest to me.

Well of course soldiers aren't going to get all these tributes like MJ is getting, it's not as if said soldier is a world wide superstar/worldy known for his talents. What do you expect really. Every soldier that has been killed in action does get rightfully mentioned, to compare the two is a bit daft really.

I think the jokes are sick, and I don't think he was a peadophile like so many people claim he was. I don't see why I should joke about something like that. I believe he was innocent - he was just a very strange individual at times, and I respected his talent too.

Get a grip? To the person who said that earlier - I'm sure everyone else pays their sodding respects to fallen soldiers - why imply that they don't? Why criticise them for saying a simple message of respect for a dead celebrity? If you've been a fan of someone since the day they started their work, what do you expect long time fans to do? Not give a shit?

Hmm so i heard. I dont care at all if im being honest. His music never influenced or affected my life in anyway, shape or form.
None of his actions have ever done anything for me either apart from maybe laughing at Jokes about him on the TV.
All the best to the family and whatever but i really couldnt care less.
If it was someone i was interested in id feeel totally different. :/

Great musician in the early 90's. He made a huge impact in the music industry as far as entertainment and stuff, but I don't care about what kind of person he was.

He doesn't know me. I don't know him. I don't feel sorrow for entertainers, but I do respect him as a person for his good music back in the day.

I'm sorry, but when a 13 year old boy could give detailed description of Jacko's penis, and the case was settled out of court for 22 million $, I can't help but think that something is a bit off. Add to that how he stated that he loved to "sleep" with young boys, and I think it's pretty certain to say that the man had an unnatural attitude towards children. Pedophile or not.

I know that fans were really looking forward to the tour, and Michael dissapointed them, but still he is the king of pop and he deserves some credit. He did some great things with his life, I loved thriller. I also got a joke:

What is the difference between Disney films and Jacko?
Disney can still touch kids.

...Um, he died? I doubt people are going "Oh snap, how dare you die on us Michael!" And being really disappointed -I think they are mourning the loss of a superstar, not a concert.

If you think he is the king of pop and deserves, I don't think you would have made a joke like that imho.

Well, he postponed the beginner of his tour due needing more time to get everything together, though there were rumours flying around that his health was a concern.

You're missing the point. The first line "I'm all for respect for the dead."

It's the ones crying their eyes out and acting as if they are some huge fan, when they probably don't even own one of his records, or haven't even listenned to one for years. It's the people who act like they are effected by it when really, they aren't.

I seen one comment "It makes you realise life is short" that came from someone who lost a family member not so long ago. :|

It's great that people are out there playing his music and celebrating his accomplishments and paying their respects. There are just too many idiots taking it way too far.

The same happened with Jade Goody, I know people who always rambled on about how much they hated her, then she dies and they suddenly turn and act like they were her biggest fan.

I didn't like the man, but I liked his music and what he did for world music. That's what I'm going to remember him for, a legend of pop.

And about the jokes, people should just get over them. You can't stop them...

I'm impressed with how well his music's doing in the charts at the moment. He's dominating the top ten albums, and he's got loads of songs in the top 100, Man In The Mirror is number 3 on itunes!

I actually expected Billie Jean or Thriller to be doing better, but Man In The Mirror is a great song anyway.

It's sad he died, but I think the whole public outpouring of grief is a little...hysterical maybe? He was a brilliant musician, and it was an unexpected death, but the media explosion is a little scary. I've seen at least 10 MJ tribute programs today x_x
