That's considering you have a lawn.

We used to live in a townhouse that had the tiniest patch of lawn. It was good because it saved a lot of time.

Then when we moved to our new house we had grass everywhere. :gonk:

Definitely something I overlooked when I applied for tenancy here. :hmmm:

In Winter it isn't so bad. The grass just stays the same length for ages. You won't have to mow for around five weeks.

Now that it's Summer, the damn lawn needs a trim just about every week! As soon as you cut it it grows straight back up within three days!

We try to extend mowing it to two weeks so that not all our weekends are consumed with this annoying task. However, we've left it for three weeks now and it's pretty long. :gonk:

Oh and for the ladies, are you the type to get out there and help with the mowing?

I never used to be until I moved out of my parents. Steve would often use the whipper snipper because it scared the crap out of me, and I would just use the lawn mower and do the middle while he was going along the edges.

I've learnt that the afternoon is always the best time to do it. If you do it in the middle of the day you just get hot, burnt and frustrated and the whole process takes twice as long. >.<

I have to do ours this afternoon. :sad3:

well i'll do it in the summer sometimes. usually my dad does it, but ive been known to go out and do it for a penny chew or two. i quite often do my grandma's garden too.

one time when i was "cutting the grass" as i like to call it, i accidentally jammed my leg in the flymo. and now i have a wooden leg.

Like almost never as my dad frequently mows the lawn, I only mow the lawn if my dad is worn out from work or when I feel like it (which is almost never).

Not to mention, pulling out weeds is a pain in the ass! Some weeds I have to dig in the ground to pull it out, so yeah when I finish weeding the lawn looks like someone bombed it :gonk:(...nah not really):olivia:

I swear there are more and more odd topics entering Costa del Sol each day :wacky:

Um we mow ours about 2 weeks to once a month during the Spring and Summer. I am usually the lucky one who does it. Yay me. We don't mow our lawn in winter though :hmmm: I didn't know you had to :wacky:

I don't see the big deal in mowing the lawn. I like the long grassy terrainy look.

But, we live next to 2 houses who have perfect lawns so if ours is only a little long it looks awful :rage:

Stewpid perfect neighbors :hmph: They also set their pies in the windowsill to cool.

I don't own a lawn mower so I pay people to do it for me. I get it cut once a month. It probably could be cut more frequently. But providing my lawn doesn't get ridiculously long it doesn't really bother me to be honest.

We rent so it's the landlady's job to get it sheared. That being said, the person she has had mow before is unreliable so I've volunteered to do it on occasion. Usually its done once a month between April and September.

I've only lived on my own for a little over a year. Before this I never even thought about mowing the lawn. I do not own a lawn mower even now so I will call up my father to do it for me, though this time I let the grass grow so long it was like a jungle out there and dad's little lawnmower ran out of puff and he could not finish it up. I had to call Jim's mowing to come and do it for me. I'd say usually I get the lawn mowed every 5 weeks, though Jim has told me to do it every 3 so I have him booked for 3 weeks time.

The end.

I really like long grass to I tend to ask my parents not to mow the lawn. :lew: And I don't do it myself, though I will certainly do it when I'm older; all lawns need mowing occasionally.

Grass probably grows a lot slower in the UK... when I say I like long grass, I'm thinking of grass about 8cm tall, which takes several weeks to develop.

My ex had grass on his lawn that was about 80cm tall, which meant he couldn't go out into his garden. I was worried about ticks and snakes, too. I want to be able to enjoy the garden! :(

About once a year, twice if i absolutely have to, i despise gardening. I usually wait til I get a letter off the council telling me I have to do it, or else :wacky:

My other garden, once a week or so

At home, we don't have lawns anymore. My family absolutely hated gardening, so we just decided to pay a premium to get rid of the lawns and have a stone and marble patio instead. And I have to admit, I do prefer it this way. :wacky:

Prior to that though, I think my dad and brother would do it like, once a month. None of us were really keen on it as I said, we just knew that someone had to do it, before it's hideously overgrown. My sister would occasionally chip in too, and I would always refuse. Firstly, I honestly do hate the smell of freshly mowed grass, and secondly, I think I have some kind of mild allergy to it, whereby I start getting a runny nose pretty quickly when I'm near freshly mowed grass.

In the winter and late-fall seasons, about once every two weeks, but in the mid-spring and all of summer seasons, once a week, sometimes more depending on how hot and how much the grass grows. It usually depends on how lazy my family and I are. :wacky:

I'm usually out there helping in some way. :andry:

I mow my lawn every weekend to every other weekend depending on the season (I don't mow during the fall or winter obviously). I also mow in a different direction each time I do so in order to lift the grass. Unlike most people, I thoroughly enjoy yard work. It's only meant to please one person: yourself. So do it to your own standard and you shouldn't have any reason to complain about it.

I'm pretty anal about my lawn simply because an hour or so of work a week can put thousands and thousands of $ of curb appeal in your pocket if you have to sell your home.

We have pretty wet springs her in the Northeast US so once the growing season starts I'm mowing every 5 days or so. You're never supposed to cut more than 1/3 of the length of the grass so you have to get on it early and stay on it.

Once it gets into June we tend to get hot and dry so I cut it back to every 8-10 days and don't cut it as short. The longer grass gives some shade to the root beds in the summer heat.

In the fall up through early November I probably go once a week - then it gets cut really short the last weekend of November so that it doesn't get matted over the winter and under the snow.

Because of the hurricanes and record rains we had late in the summer everything is bright green even now. I got all my treatments in so in the springs it's going to look like a golf course.

-sees thread title.... calls Dad-

Me: Daaaaaaaaad!
Dad: What?!?!?!?!
Me: How often do you mow the lawn?.....

He said like, maybe twice a year for the building we live in. I knew he got lazy at work out there. Anyway, I've seen him on that stupid thing before. It's horrible. When the grass over here grows, it gets very bad. It's almost impossible to walk through. Luckily, the grass in the front of the building is fake. So he only needs to worry about the yard.

Never :ohoho: Our garden is all stone. No grass at all. Just chuckie stones and slabbing. Its a tiny garden anyway so if i did have to mow it, it wouldnt take long :hmmm:

The only thing i have to do is trim the front and back hedge every now and again. In summer it needs cut every 6 -7 weeks cuz you have rain and then sunshine in constant sequence. It only takes about 5mins to cut the hedge with the trimmers. Its the cleaning up afterwards that takes up most of the time. Easily fill up 5 black bags of leaves and afterwards your still sweeping up the little bits left on the ground =_= Always make a note to cut it one last time before winter sets in. Its been about 3 maybe 4 months now since i cut it and its still fairly low. Once it starts to warm up again il take the clippers over it as itl sprout right up. Besides the cleaning up part i love cutting the hedge :lew: Its great fun taking the electric cutter to it and seeing the branches get sliced and diced. The noise pisses off my neighbour across the road aswell. Extra bonus =)

I mow one of two ways. The first way is mowing in a sort of spiral formation. The other is up and down the lawn. I dunno of any other way that I would do it.

How often? It depends on when it needs mowing (When my parents ask me :wacky: )

Oh dear, we're terrible about remembering to mow our lawn. In fact, we're becomming "those neighbors". But usually once every two or three weeks. Our neighbors probably hate us. But at least there are worse lawns on our street.

Quite often. Twice a month or so during summer, sometimes every week back down in Florida because the grass grew so damn fast. I actually enjoy the yard work as I always have, I'm such a weird guy. :lew:

Also, @Carmen Sandiego you're supposed to mow the opposite direction of the last time you mowed each time to lift the grass!
