Discontented Warrior

Veerle was bored.

That was hardly anything new for Veerle Shinja, of course, but this was a different kind of bored. Usually she could easily rid herself of boredom by forcing others to fight her. These days, however, there seemed to be very few who would do so willingly. She sighed and laid back on her bed, hands tucked beneath her head. Her dragon halberd stood against the wall by the head of her bed, ready to grab at a moments notice. She had no reason to be wary in her room, however, so the blade was still wrapped in the silk cloth she used to protect it. A warrior should take care of their weapons, after all.

Another sign punctuated the silence of the room. Her dark eyes closed to the dim light, foot tapping to an imaginary beat. God, she was bored.

Pushing herself off her bed, Veerle strode to the middle of her room. Tugging at the gloves on her hands, Shinja slid gracefully into the tiger crouch, her eyes closed and mind focused. If she was going to be bored, she might as well do something with her time.

For a solid thirty minutes, the warrior ran through several sequences, switching between styles, testing her own imagination. Finally, she came to a stop and exhaled a deep breath slowly. Now she felt exhilerated as opposed to bored.

Snatching up the Halberd, Veerle left her room and stalked the hall, finally coming to a halt and stopping by a wall. Resting the halberd against it, Veerle waited. As much as she hated people, perhaps human interaction would be good for her. Besides, you never know when a student might misbehave...

Oracio was listening intently to everything the student had to say. When the other teacher began to speak, he just waited it out, the situation would usually dissolve itself. As expected the student also had a few things to say. Oracio listened to everything both of them had to say, but it was not his place to but into anything like this. When the student had finished speaking, he decided it be best if he said something to let it stop for now. "Please, let us be a bit more mature about the situation. I can see the point both of you had come from and both of you have your reasons." He then turned to look at Nova and continue speaking, "I'm sure you have plenty of teachings to offer the students here, you look as though you could have them learn great things. That spell was rather unique, I never saw anything like that, so I am sure of what I am saying."

Then turning to Sophia, "and Sophia, don't let it get to you too much, I am sure that Nova wasn't going to kill, as any teacher knows that that would lead to proper punishment. It is against the law and punishable by death in return. Now come, I want to speak to you. In my classroom. I have no class at the moment, but I always leave my room open for anyone to come along." Oracio started to walk on away and say one last thing, "I am sorry for what just happened here, I hope we can put it behind us."

-------Ray-------
Ray was sitting still when one of the girls that walked in earlier asked what his wolf's name was. Ray looked at her and responded, "His name is Kisharu, but I call him Ki for short. My name is Ray, yours?" Ray hoped the teacher wouldn't mind that he was speaking in class, but he was just being friendly. Then Ray watched as the one named Delijah volunteered and went up. He then turned his attention to this, as it would be the demonstration he wanted.

-------Arukab-------
Arukab stood solidly still just as before when his student struck him. The pollarm connected to his head and so did a foot. Next thing he knew he was captured to a small explosion. He waited for the smoke to die down so he could see his student. When it did, he uncoated his hands and face to clap and say, "Well done, You already have a good amount of power. I must say I wasn't expecting that, I almost lost my balance. Now take a seat. Who wants to go next?" Arukab would wait for the next student, so he coated his hands and fice in silver once again.

“Well, least we got a few people, though Orion still needs to show up. Glad that you're hear with us, Raistlin.” Raistlin smiled upon hearing the kind words. However, he was quickly tired of waiting for everyone else to show up. He just wanted to hurry, get to the beach, and kill some bandits.

Orion finally showed up, and Raistlin only half listened to his speech, up until he got to the “If trouble happens, hide behind me or Blade, since we aren't total magic users like Raistlin there.” Raistlin grinned, and thought to himself that they would be lucky to kill any of them if his magic got their first.

“Alright then, we'll come up with a more detailed plan when er get there. Any questions before we head out?” Asked Orion.

Athena listened to Eliane's briefing and then decided that she would not be the one to take care of Agatha. She was not obly black sect, but Disciplinary Commitee as well. She had to keep order inside and outside the Academy. She had to contribute in more than mere babysitting. It would reflect badly on the Disciplinary Commitee, and therefore the school, if there were any civilian casualties.

(Oh class... =] Be nice to her or she bites D=< )

Boredom bites

Her arms folded across her chest, halberd propped against the wall; Veerle was the very image of a guardian. Though, what she was guarding was nothing more than an empty hallway. Hardly entertaining.

Sighing, she pushed herself away from the way, took up her halberd and made sure the silk cloth was securely tied around the blade. Boredom was a bitch. There was only one thing she could do and Veerle almost shuddered at the fact she was considering it as a remedy to relieve said boredom.

She would go to class.

Chewing her lower lip as she made her way down the halls, Veerle couldn't help but feel like she was going to get into trouble for arriving late; not that she really cared but it wouldn't really look all that good for the Disciplinary Committee would it? Oh well, not much could be done for that now.

She made no sound as she slipped into the classroom and strode purposefully towards the far wall, furthest away from the weapon teacher. Leaning against it, she rested her polearm alongside and folded her arms once more. Her eyes closed as she lowered her head slightly, hair masking her face as her ears listened intently to the room.

Joey had watched the student, Delijah, attack the teacher. She used two different styles: one was a basic jab, which had some power in it, enough to bend the weapon, which he had never seen before. The second was a overhead attack which was followed by a small explosion and lots of smoke. This was something he had never seen before, so he was suprised and made a mental note about this.

"Well done, You already have a good amount of power. I must say I wasn't expecting that, I almost lost my balance. Now take a seat. Who wants to go next?"

"I will volunteer, sir." He said, as he got up from his seat.

After he rose, he held the sword at a downward angle for a second and closed his eyes, in an attempt to focus. When he opened his eyes, he used his seat to launch himself up in the air. With all of his strength, he hit the teacher with a downward strike, aiming at the neck. He lost his concentration at the last second, and hit the teacher in the shoulder instead, and rolled away from him. After the strike, he put his sword on the ground and started to focus, while staying down on one knee, like he did before the class started.

"Damn," he said to himself.

Xe walked into the training facility, hoping to find who he was looking for.
He walked through the courtyard. Nobody was there for once.
That's odd, very odd. Is there something going on that I'm missing out on? Oh well, I better get back on my way.

Xe walked into the training facility.
I should train.

Xe walked over to where the training dummies were. He approached one, and pulled out his blade.
Why don't I try and enchant this with fire. Here goes nothing.

FIRE!
Xe's blade lit on fire, burned beautifully.

HUH!
Xe's blade sliced the training dummy in half. And the two halves burned on the ground.

Now thats what I call efficiency. Better go sit down. I'll try and look out for Crimson Wolf, since he'll be the easiest to spot.
Xe went and sat down at a bench, and waited to spot Crimson Wolf.

Sophia

"Now come, I want to speak to you. In my classroom. I have no class at the moment, but I always leave my room open for anyone to come along." Once Krego said this and started moving, Sophia was relieved and gladly followed, but just before they had left from Nova's presence, he added one more thing.

"I am sorry for what just happened here, I hope we can put it behind us." he said. Sophia was still upset, this can be clearly understood, but she did realize something during all this, and perhaps she could find a place in her heart to forgive this, as she thought of what Nova had mentioned was a goal of the test...

After making a slightly annoyed grunt noise, she finally looked back over at Nova once more and said to her "I guess if the objective was to strike a great amount of fear into me to...scare me into using some magic spell for the first time, it wouldn't be very effective if you told me every detail of what was going to happen before it happened, and most importantly, what wouldn't happen to me in the end, so you were just staying true to your method. But I still don't think the needles were necessary, I officially hate needles..."

Sophia actually felt a little bad about all she said to her, but it was spur of the moment, she hadn't thought about it or everything that was said right away, not too long later realizing that for the 'test' to have some chance of working out, there were some significant details she had to be left in the dark on. After letting out a sigh she finished saying "Sorry for the nasty things I said to you, and after thinking about it you just did what you had to do, but I still think it is very extreme...respectfully, I must continue further efforts to learn some magic through Mr. Krego now, not you, Nova. I hope you won't take offence to this, this is just what is right for me, even if it takes longer, so if you'll excuse us, we're off.

Oh, and if you ever run into to my brother Crimson Wolf, who trust me, you'd recognize him when you see him, feel free to say hi to him. Sure he'll ask how I've been doing when he sees me, and I'll say what happened, but I know you just kept what you had to from me for it to be at it's most effective, and since I realized that I am not so angry anymore, and I am sure he won't stay upset about it once I fully explain it all... Well, you take care of yourself, Miss Nova, and don't let this bare any weight on your mind now, I forgive." she said as she started to head off, with Krego, to go to his classroom.

Heading through the some hallways, which were somewhat populated with students, but not overly packed in the particular areas. "I'm really feeling better now, glad I took a moment to think it all through, and got that mess all cleared up. It might be tough to face Crimson Wolf and tell him, knowing him he'll likely blame himself for me having to go through that, even though ultimately I made the decision myself..." Sophia spoke as they were on their walk towards Krego's classroom.

Finally arriving, she noticed there was actually already somebody in the room, and was going to go over to greet the student, but she remembered Krego saying he wanted to speak with her, so before going anywhere, she turned to him and asked "Looks like we're here. What was it you want to speak to me about? One would assume it is to do with magic, coming here of all places, the classroom of a magic teacher, but what specifically?"

Crimson Wolf

While he finished up his meal, even though it would seem a repetitive cycle, he did see another dummy monster of interest that could be good training, he came to the decision of heading right back to the training facility.

Once he got back, there was now someone else there as well, he approached the man and greeted him, "Well, it's good to see another dedicated fighter inside the training facility. I am Crimson Wolf, and you are?" he said, reaching out his paw as in to offer a handshake greeting, though from his side of it not being actually a hand...he proceeded to await his response.

A stranger approached Xe. But this stranger was no ordinary person, he was a wolf.

The wolf walked up to Xe and outstretched his paw and greeted Xe.

Xe took the wolf's paw into his hand and shook it
Hello to you to. You must be Crimson Wolf, I imagine. I've been looking for you. Listen, I trying to get a party of people together, and I've selected you and two others, do you accept?

Crimson Wolf

After a hand/paw shake, the man replied, "Hello to you too. You must be Crimson Wolf, I imagine. I've been looking for you. Listen, I trying to get a party of people together, and I've selected you and two others, do you accept?" he said.

Crimson Wolf really didn't have much to do right now anyways, without a second thought he replied "I've just been bored trying to find something to do for a little while now, so no reason I should decline your offer. Oh, and who are the other two, might I ask?"

OOC: Short post is short...just something to be answering Xe, whom Crimson Wolf still doesn't know his name. <.<

“No problem, I can probably spare that time. That is, if you don’t mind me multitasking it while I am sorting some paperwork out. You go get that book, I am about to have another visitor but if you go and get back here in say 45 minutes to an hour I am sure we can work something out… I will have to insist unfortunately that you go pick up that book now.”

0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0

“Hey no problems, I didn’t really want a student anyways got plenty to keep me from getting too bored around here as is… I trust you’ll take good care of her? Now if the both of you will excuse me I have another student who needs my help…” Nova said turning on her heels and walking back to her office with that characteristic swaying walk she favored.

0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0

Walking into her office Nova tossed her coffee which had since grown cold and opened her desk drawer and pulled out a still warm club sandwich from the drawer; bacon, tomato, lettuce, mayo, overjarige kaas, Pesto and turkey breast on toasted rye bread. Just as nova was about to complain, a still frosted glass filled with a Piña colada appeared on her desk, coaster from Spinnakers and all. “Atma knows me too well” Nova mused as she tossed the maraschino cherry out of the window. Before stirring the whole thing with her straw and taking a sip. It was, as expected, perfect but it totally didn’t fit her mood… Almost before she finished the thought her glass was replaced with a frosted highball glass filled with vodka cooler. “Aaah my old nemesis, we meet again” Nova said before slamming the drink down and digging into her sandwich. Reading Miss Denton’s paper she found it contained some insights she would have thought beyond someone this young. But then Miss Denton was hardly your normal run of the mill RD -as if such a thing could even exist according to the ‘man upstairs’. Hmmm, Nova grabbed her red pen and marked some stuff on the paper and then put an A- in the top left corner. She could always turn the minus into a plus when the rest of the papers came in. Just as she filed the paper in a binder as a knock on the door came. “Enter” nova said as soon as she swallowed the bite of sandwich had in her mouth.

OOC: Drach pointed out to me that I forgot to put it in my post, but the topic of the paper I set my students is “How did you figure out you were an adept and how has this affected your lives, with examples of before and after your awakening. (Awakening being Nova’s term for “the first spell you cast” for those who learned by doing something or “when you were told you could be taught to cast” for those who were taught to cast)

Taron left Nova's office and headed to the library. He had about an hour to kill before she would be done with the other student. 'Probably that white wolf,' he thought. Even though the next class had begun the campus was full of people.

Taron deftly manuevered his way around them until he finally go to the library. It was just as crowded as it was outside but far quieter. He saw several students from his class with Nova working on their essays with books spread out around them. 'Now why would they need books to write the essay?'

He went to the catalog and found a section on relaxation techniques. "Obviously.." he muttered. No school worth itself would not have a section for relaxation techniques. Stress was one of the biggest threats to student life. He found the section far more crowded than he would've thought so early in the year. Most of the students seemed to be older blue sect students and red sect students interspersed with several black sects.

He scanned the shelves from a distance for a few minutes looking for a title. He found one nestled between a pair of red sect students. "Excuse me," he said, reaching for the book between them. Slowly, almost deliberately, they moved aside, their obvious disdain for someone so young palpable.

Taron flipped through the first few pages of Spellcaster's Relaxation. The first chapter outlined the uses of yoga breathing as a way to relax during spellcasting and as a way to relax the mind. 'Exactly what I need.' He handed in his ID card to the librarian, adding a second book to his list.

As he walked back to Nova's ofiice he began reading the book. By the time he finally go to her office the hour was up and he had walked in ready to begin his training, armed with what he hoped was a way to help him control his magic.

OOC: I already said that I'll take care of watching over her Mitsuru. Also, sorry for the short post.

IC: With all questions answered and everything settled, Eliane said to the three taking part of the mission. "We will go over the mission details one ast time when we reach the town, understood?" Eliane wanted to make sure everyone was clear on the objective so that she would not run into any mistakes, either on her part or on her team.

"All right, let's head to Eureka Town." Eliane said calmly, and was the first person to leave the Academy Building.

Mr. Krego

Oracio was walking with Sophia to show her to his classroom. He was rather impressed at how her and Nova handled the situation with maturity and good will. He was also happy that they had forgiven eachother.

Before entering the classroom, he could see another student waiting for him in his room. The student had short black hair and looked like a very serious person. But before actually entering, he was cut off by Sophia, as she had something to say. He listened as she spoke, and then responded in a kind voice, "No worries, I just wanted to ask you something that I also should be asking this student. But I do have a special assignment for you."

Oracio walked into his room and greeted the student. "Hello my name is Mr. Krego, I am the advanced magic teacher. It is a pleasure to have you in my class." The room was filled with books, almost like a library. Every book was different, as all the books were different magic books, full of knowledge. There were also black stones set around the room, and as soon as Oracio stepped into the room, they let off a gentle blue flame. Red flames rose gently waving behind his desk of a fancy style, but none of the flames he had going were hot at all, all they did was let off a gentle glow. He had some small orbs that seemed to hold electricity. The room was always giving off a friendly vibe.

"Sit" He said as Oracio sat down. "So tell me both of you, what kind of magic are we interested in? I can guarantee I know it, if not, I have a book with it." Now Oracio just had to wait for a response from them. He needed to know exactly what he would be teaching to teach them. "Sophia, I know you already said healing and protection, but what kind? There is of course the telekinesis, mind over matter, hardening, sifting, all sorts, but what style do you think suits you?"

Arukab

Arukab stood yet again, maintaining his hold to the ground. He watched as his student named Joey put a strike to him after having launched himself from the desk. He was hit in the shoulder, but watched his student go back on one knee. "Very good, but can you tell me what you did wrong?" Arukab asked. Then he saw a different student walk in and not even say anything. He took note of her weapon. Another student with a pollarm. Arukab decided not to say anything until he was done with Joey.

(OOC: Ray will wait for Oliver to post...)

Sophia

"Sophia, I know you already said healing and protection, but what kind? There is of course the telekinesis, mind over matter, hardening, sifting, all sorts, but what style do you think suits you?"

Out of those mentioned, one of them sounded more solid than the rest to her. "Hardening. It sounds like a solid defense, better than the others you mentioned, and I am not familiar with any other styles, the word Hardening is invoking thoughts of protective shields or shells of sorts, which is my top priority here, protective magic." she replied, no doubts about her decision. "You mentioned something of a special assignment for me?"

OOC: Sorry for the short posts lately, but with this, I must be off now...

"His name is Kisharu, but I call him Ki for short. My name is Ray, yours?"

"Oh! My name's Stella!" She said gazing at the boy with the interesting wolf.

A second battle had begun to start and even though Stella missed her chance at second she didn't mind talking to this boy. "So youre new here?" Stella asked seeing the blue blazer on the boy.

Him and his companion looked very strong for beginners but Stella knew not to automatically stereotype a stranger. She smiled an wanted so desperately to have a dog of her own now, but she remembered her work and suddenly was reminded that there was no time for animals. Just then a disciplinary student snuck in looking down.
Stella had recognized her as a disciplinary student and as suprised as she was to see this student late for class she had her own things to focus on as the teacher might call her up for battle next!

Krell

Headmaster Krell stood in his office tired of the paperwork he's had to dsign fo rthe new students when suddenly he got a student bursting in his office. "I saw something!" the student said panicking.

"Calm down, calm down," Krell said quietly. "What did you see?"

"It was big! Like a big monster in the ocean!" The student said, shaken out of his wits. "It looked almost as big as the island!"

"There's no way that could be. I had someone check the waters around here! There was no such monster." Krell said comfortingly as the student left. "Don't worry, it must have been your imagination."

Krell sat back at his desk and gazed at the blue waters from beyond. He knew there couldn't be such a threat to his school. He would have to take action himself and investigate this further. Krell got out his journal and marked a stroke. That was the fifth case today a student had reported a giant monster out at sea...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OOC: Don't act on my Krell posts as I may insert some kind of small plot points now and then!

Now these are long overdue but I owe some of you Rank points for training!

+4 for Agatha
+4 for Crimson
+3 for Xe

That is all...

Ravona continued to read for several minutes as the metaphorical clock ticked away. It didn’t take her long to finish the book she was reading, just reading it once was enough for her to memorize all the relevant information in it, and when finished Ravona took a look at the books in the room.
With her mage sight she could tell some had enchantments cast on them to prevent decay, a quite standard magical spell amongst many schools of magic. She also noticed the black stones and their property to be used as lamps. Ravona didn’t recognize any of the books though, she had read quite a few books from her masters library, though her access to that place was rather limited, master insisted that most of the knowledge in there wouldn’t mean anything without having experienced the real thing first. However Ravona knew that he was just trying to keep the higher level magic, as well as some of the more questionable magics, away from her.
The books here were all unknown to Ravona, considering she wasn’t from this world that was no surprise, despite what many mages believed there were more magics and spells then there were water drops in an ocean, still it was likely that their principles were the same.

Ravona heard someone outside the door and sat back down on her seat as the teacher entered the room, followed by a dog or wolf person. As her entered the teacher activated the black stones to produce heatless flames, while the flames did provide light she wondered if it was really necessary, there was plenty of light coming into the classroom from outside, enough for her to have been reading without any problems.
"Hello my name is Mr. Krego, I am the advanced magic teacher. It is a pleasure to have you in my class." The teacher spoke to Ravona, who took her time studying this teacher. He was a man, probably in his early 30’s though appearance was something that could usually not be trusted amongst magic users. Her master was apparently several thousands of years old, he never indulged Ravona on the details of his apparently eternal youth. Perhaps this was related with his ascension to planewalker. From his attire Ravona could tell Krego was one of those mages who dressed the part, he had both the cape and long robes that were tradition amongst many mages.

"Sit" Krego said as he sat down at his desk. "So tell me both of you, what kind of magic are we interested in? I can guarantee I know it, if not, I have a book with it. Sophia, I know you already said healing and protection, but what kind? There is of course the telekinesis, mind over matter, hardening, sifting, all sorts, but what style do you think suits you?"
Apparently the wolf was named Sophia, a girl? Ravona honestly couldn’t tell the gender of such creatures apart. Though Mr. Krego’s exposition was only brief Ravona could tell this was a continuation of a previous conversation.
"Hardening. It sounds like a solid defense, better than the others you mentioned, and I am not familiar with any other styles, the word Hardening is invoking thoughts of protective shields or shells of sorts, which is my top priority here, protective magic." The wolf replied, with a hint of certainty in her voice, she was probably the straightforward kind of girl. "You mentioned something of a special assignment for me?"
So this wolf girl wants to learn protective magics. That’s certainly a vague area. There’s many spells that can be used for protection. Ravona thought to herself. Protective magic was amongst the most common of magics along with elemental and healing. Still Ravona couldn’t help but comment on Sophia’s last comment.
“The hardening magic I’ve seen doesn’t involve creating barriers, it’s magic that enhances objects that are already there. For example you could harden clothing to make it strong as steel. I once even saw a woman who could harden the air around herself; still that woman was immortal and had taken quite some time getting to that point. Creating a kinetic barrier is more an alternative application of telekinesis.”
Ravona could have told her about force magic which included both telekinesis and force fields, magic she was very familiar with, but figured that Sophia wasn’t interested in the offensive side that force magic brought with itself.
Ravona then turned to the teacher to make her own request for studies. “Well Mr. Krego. I do have some things I wish to learn. Mostly in the field of actively countering magic as well as reflecting magic cast by others to a target of my choosing.” Ravona knew that both these magics existed and shouldn’t be that hard to come by. “Also if we are going to learn more advanced magic I wish to expand my list of time magic spells and perhaps learn some spatial manipulation.”
Ravona was about to wait for a reply but then realized she almost forgot something.
“Before I forget to mention, my magic and the origin of my power is a little different from probably anyone else you know so it’s best if you teach me the workings of the spells and I’ll rewrite them to suit me.” Ravona mentioned the last bit rather as a side mark however if this teacher had any common sense regarding magic he would probably know that rewriting spells to suit a different type of magic user was usually something that would take years for a single spell especially for the more advanced magics. Ravona was not worried though, so far she had converted many spells like this since there weren’t really books on planewalker magic.
Ravona specifically didn’t mention she was an aspiring planewalker, only a handful of planewalkers existed in the entire universe and it was unlikely that the inhabitants of this world had ever seen or even heard of one. And if they did they might have so prejudice against them since planewalkers were rarely ‘good’ people. It was better for the teacher not to know what wouldn’t help him anyway.

"Understood."

Agatha looked at Eliane before she left the academy with a short lived smile. She have smiled more in the past minutes than she have ever done in her entire life. She felt accepted here and there were no one to judge her about her powers, about her past or anything.

She took out her hair from the ponytail and braided too portions of her hair with her telekinetic powers and used her own hair as a way too make the ponytail. She then tightened her jacket and walked outside of the academy so she could stay close too Eliane.

OOC: Short post is short, but could not come up with anything longer.

Xe decided to tell Crimson Wolf who else he was searching for.

I was looking for you, but now I have found you. I am still currently looking for
Joey Hagen and Ray Stephenson, do you know of these people?

Xe looked Crimson directly in the eyes this time.
Now the reason I have chosen you guys is so we can be a balanced team. I may need friends as time goes by, same with you. So, I take it that you will be joining me, yes?

Xe loosened his connection with Crimson as he started to talk with him.
He's good, I dont need to be on edge with him, yet. Xe thought to himself.

"Very good, but can you tell me what you did wrong?"

"I'm sorry, sir. I lost my focus, and my strike went," he paused to choose his words, "off target."

He did not know what caused him to lose concentration, and that worried him. He was not known for his mental ability, and he had never used his mind to control or let anyone else into his mind.

After replying to the teacher and thinking his thoughts, he got up and grabbed his weapon. He did not know if the teacher would give him another chance, so he readied his mind for it, just in case. One thing was certain, he would not let whatever happened to him happen again.
