I thought this was kind of funny. I can't imagine doing that though.

BOULDER, Co. - A sophomore at Colorado University came up with a novel way of paying his tuition for the spring 2011 semester: Using all $1 bills.
Nic Ramos says he did it as a statement about the high cost of schooling.
He delivered his 33-pound payment to the University of Colorado in Boulder last week.
As an out-of-state student from Sacramento, California, Ramos owed CU over $14,000 for the semester. He spent a week or two assembling the dollar bills he needed to make his payment.
Ramos said he got some strange looks from tellers at Boulder banks when he asked for a huge quantity of singles. And he got a similar reaction at the university's bursar's office.
It took clerks in the office close to an hour to count all the money. He doubts his form of payment and the publicity it's generated will affect the tuition debate but said it can't hurt.
Ramos said he won't repeat his gesture in the fall because he feels once is enough.

4 words and one smiley: Most, epic thing evar. :gasp:

MOD EDIT: Come on man, you know better. Add a little love to the post.

I'll agree with that.

Half a years tuition in $1 bills:lew: If we did that in Australia wed need a small truck:hmmm:$1 coins would be about........if my calculations are correct:just under 13.8 tone of Coins:srsly:

Im sure thats right? not exact but close enough.

In my opinion his a bit of an arse.

He's just made extra work for the office staff to count all that money really.

I really doubt he made any sort of impact when he was trying to make his little 'statement' other than making the people behind the desk a little pissed off.

Ugh, I can't stand people who do this sort of thing. They piss off the wrong people.

Kandy you cant even laugh at this a little bit?

There is an overall truth to what you say, but the point is he made some kind of statement,
the efficacy of his efforts were not so far spread, but with a little direction this guy could make a difference.

Or it was a prank and hes a douchebag :lew:

:lew: It sort of reminds me of a TV show a while ago where this guy spent literally ages in a store trying to pay for this purchases using huge amounts of pennies in loose change.

However this really isn't going to have much of an impact. I really don't think many people will follow suit and decide to do this as well, as it's frankly, rather ridiculous. Still, paying it all with $1 notes may make some people stop and consider just how much money $14,000 is, though what ultimate impact this will have is minimal.

Hhahaha, this is indeed epic. They cant refuse taking it. The staff from the bank cant refuse counting it either :giggle: , Im sure he will make statement with thus but doesnt bare fruit. However if he does this again...and again....and again.. maybe he will reach his goals...

....nah....still fun though, mad propz !

EDIT: Wtf since when do colleges accept straight cash? Dont students have to deposit it on a bank account or something? :hmmm:

I do agree that it's not fair that the clerks have to deal with this when they're not the ones who make the rules, but he does have the right idea. If there was some way for him to do something similarly annoying to the people in charge, then that would be even better, but I'm not sure who those people are :hmmm: Maybe inundating them with annoying mail or something.

I dunno, all I know is that people sitting there obediently paying high tuition fees isn't going to do shit to get them lowered. Whereas any sort of protest, even this, is at least something.

Aw it's still funny though :monster:

Plus, it's not at all illegal so grumble they may, but if folk wanna be arses then folk are gunna be arses

I think it's brilliant :wacky:

If it happened to me sure id be like...wot -__-

But Id see the funny side, though, my counting/maths skills are shite and it would take me more than an hour. Buuuuut, if it's part of the job its part of the job

Epic. :ryan:

I'd love to do that. Just to see their faces would be awesome. :jess:

All this is gonna do is make college and universities now just accept cheques or cards, that's it xD

Tuition is really high though, seriously :/

This is the main reason I got so annoyed. XD

Part of my job is paying off accounts and if someone did that to me I'd be so angry as it's only part of my job and I have a gazillion other things to do. >.<

Luckily for me I live in a bogan area and no one has that sort of money, nor would they be able to rack up that huge of a bill on their accounts as we all know we'd never see it if they did. XD

Fair play to the guy. Some may find it a bit of a prickish thing to do, and ok it is, but he was making a statement in a way that most people just wouldn't be arsed to do. He knows it will have no impact yet it will feel him with a sense of *something I can't think of right now, need moawr coffee* and a story to tell his grandchildren infront of the fire. Besides he won't do it again, once is enough, he'd be a bit sad if he continued on. And thus that is that.

Besides at least he isn't throwing fire extinguishers off buildings, smashing through glass doors and swinging off statues like some of my fellow Brits. ;)

It's part of my job too, watch karma bite me on the arse :wacky:

I feel so bad for the people who had to sit and count out all of those ones...that had to be frustrating to say the least. The kid obviously had A LOT of time on his hands to be able to spend a week sorting through a bunch of ones to be able to piss the people at his school off.

Really, it was assinine of him I admit. However, with the way the economy is nowadays and with people being so tight on dollars...they are lucky they got money at all and not an I.O.U.
