Something I was waffling about in the SB made me think of this. I have a black label copy of IX I don't play, I use the Platinum one, but like, this time last year, I knocked all my FF games off the DVD rack and broke the case of the black label one, super-glued it back together and went to open it today and Ive glued the top half of the back of the case shut -__-, anyway, I don't like Platinum games, I hate them, they look out of place in my game collection, the game its self is just crap and silver and I don't think the case looks very nice either

The only Platinum games I own are copies of games I already have. Apart from that Kingdom Hearts game I have, and Ive been twitching about it ever since, Ive been randomly making eBay bids for an 'original' copy just so I can have it. Saw it for a tenner in Ashton the other day, and I just know I'l end up going back for it just for the sake of it

I'm not quite understanding what a Black Label is... so I'mma assume it's the original copy of a game. XDDDD

If so, then yes, I am. I would rather have the proper, original cases lined up on my shelf. If I ever end up buying a platinum edition (Which I've had to do a couple of times because I've looked everywhere for the original and JUST CAN'T FIND IT) it doesn't go on my shelf. >_>

I have three copies of FFVIII. Two platinum and one original. XD Guess which one of THOSE is on my shelf. >.>

We're so snobby Kel. :8F:

You assume correctly. Looking at that KH game in my DVD rack kills me everytime I look at it, it just looks so out of place and I think it may just be a little bit OCD as well coz it doesn't flow nicely and it bugs me xD

I am. I would much rather have the original thing than the "greatest hits" copy. It just looks better. Although, I can safely say that I don't go to the extremes that you guys do. I'm more than happy to have the "greatest hits" copy. Although, at the end of the day, I would still much rather have the original.

I'm no snob. In fact, I'm not even bothered about my games being platinum or black label. I have at least three PS2 platinum and one PS3 platinum, whilst the rest are black label. Can't say it bothers me, really.

I liked having the 'Black Label Editions on my shelf too. But I lost my original IX, had to rebuy VIII after my discs stopped working, and I never bought VII first time around as VIII was my first FF so that one has always been a platinum edition, which I had to rebuy because I think I lost that one too!

Originals do look better, the silver platinum looks a bit tacky I think.

I really do prefer to have the original copy of the game I want, at least before it gets all marked up with "Greatist Hits" or "Game of the Year" and all. -__- I turned down a copy of LBP because 1. it wasn't the original copy, but the GOTY edition, and 2...it was $60, and that was all my money. :8F: In fact, I remember dragging my grandma around everywhere back in 2001 looking for a copy of FF IX that WASN'T a green label Greatist Hits edition. I just thought those editions looked tacky. :jtc:

I wouldn't say I'm a snob about it, but I do prefer black labels than platinum. It's more pleasing to the eye but then again, as long as the game plays properly then I'm not going to make a huge deal about it.

For my FF collection on the Playstation, I have FFVII - FFIX, plus Anthology. All are platinums except for FFIX. Ah well. At least I played the original copy of FFVII when I was only 12.

For PS2, FFX and FFXII are original, but I bought a new FFX copy last year (platinum) because my cousins still haven't returned my original game. :sad3:

I agree with the "black label" being the game of preference, even though the game plays the same and stuff. The original just looks sexier to me. I lost my original FFX to an ex-girlfriend and had to get the "greatest hits" version, but it looks tacky in my collection of PS2 games that only has 1 other "greatest hits" game.

Oddly enough, I owned FFVIII, IX, X, X-2 and I believe XII before I ever played FFVII. So at some point I had to cave to play what was considered the greatest FF ever. Seeing as how it was well past VII, it was in the "greatest hits" stage. I recall that I bought it on Amazon and actually spent more money to get an original version, as opposed to buying the "greatest hits" at a fairly cheaper price. If that isn't snobby, I don't know what is. :mokken: I had a perfect game going as I didn't have any "greatest hits" games at that time.

I also just purchased FF Origins, Chronicles and Anthology, and all of them are greatest hits, but I actually like that because it shows that I never played FF when those were new and I'm just starting to play them once in their nostalgic years. :ryan:

This. I do prefer the originals as the discs can come with some funky artwork on them rather than the plain old silver but I don't exactly get up in arms about it.. I have three copies of FFVII, two platinum, one not; I have no idea how that happened though.

I really don't care at all. Whichever's cheaper, tbph. The game plays the same regardless of edition, and I'm much more concerned about what's on the disk than what's on the case.

Honestly, I couldn't care less, though I OCD about a few things when I buy CERTAIN games (I have a weird habit of having to buy some games at either GAME or HMV, preferably GAME :8F:) but them games are ones I would usually buy on the release dates anyway xD.

But yeah, I'm not bothered about having black label or platinum copies, I'm mainly bothered about the game itself.

Personally I don't really care as long as I own the game, it's the same exact game, and it works fine. While I will admit original labels do look nice, having the original label is not that big of a deal. To be honest the only reason why most of my games are not PH/GH is because I usually buy my games not long after they come out.

i dont care if its Black labeled or platinum tbh i'm pretty happy when i find any of them, i found like MGS for PS1 i was so exited upon finding it i didn't care that it was platinum, i didn't care it looks better tbh.

the only thing i do care about is the disk images i like to see them instead of just a sliver background

I'm not fussed at all.

As long as it isn't pre-owned I don't care.

It's not like my games are out on show anyway. They're in a draw all the time.

I think most of my games are platinum, simply because I'm not that desperate to play a game that I'll buy it as soon as it's available. I'd rather wait and get it cheaper.

Oh most definatley a black label snob, when I was rebuying all the RE's I went for the orginal cases because I cant stand the look of platinum ones, I wasnt best pleased when my bro had bought me Crisis Core platinum either, those cases just look so ugly and stand out as an eyesore in any collection, at least the 360 classics range only has a green strip on the front of the box so they dont stand out a mile.

Black label or platinum - I don't really care actually. The games are identical regardless of the label and it's the content of the games that really matter to me, not the box itself. I have the games themselves - there's no reason to really fuss about it.

I have a large range of platinums - more than black label ones. I tend to buy older games than games that are just released anyway because I'm tight with my money like that.

i much prefer black labels, the only platinum games i own or FFIX and KH2 and i hate them, i look on ebay for black labeled versions but they are like £40 and rising! not to mention that i dropped FFVII, VIII and IX a while ago and completely wrecked the cases. i think i will invest in those again as they are not games but collectables!

I only have my original black label FFVIII which i found again by fluke!! The rest are platnuim. I wont play my original cause its worth so much to me and I still hug it :-) I use to have the one for 9, but I was an idiot and gave it to an ex ... MISTAKE!!!!!!!

I dont mind really as long as its a working game, makes no difference to moi. Plantuims or classics tend to range bout £20 brand spanking new. The original cases tend to be cheaper.

Hell yes, I'm a "black label snob."

I buy all my games almost exclusively used. If they're "Greatest Hits," then the company that releases/makes them still gets money. If not, then the money stays at the stores I buy the games from.

All of my games are BL except for FF VIII and IX.
