Crazed Twilight fans 'slice open necks'

Twilight star Robert Pattinson says he worries about being infected with HIV when adoring fans approach him with open wounds and ask him to suck their blood.

Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the series, has revealed he genuinely fears for his life when fans mob him in the street.

The 23-year-old actor laid out his concerns to promote a new biography ahead of the next Twilight film, New Moon, which premieres this week.

"People ask me to bite them and want to touch my hair," Pattinson told the News Of The World.

"I just don't want someone to have a needle and give me HIV and I don't want to get shot or stabbed."

Pattinson recalled one time where a group of girls approached him bleeding from scratches they had just opened up on their necks.

"They were like, 'We did this for you' … I didn't know what to say — 'Thank you, guys?'"

Pattinson said he feels vulnerable at big film events such as premieres, where he could be the target of an overly obsessive fan or even a terror attack.

He admits struggling to come to terms with fame since the release of the first movie, which grossed more than $350m worldwide.

He has difficulty coping with so many people trying to "ambush" him in public and at home.

He said he has come to accept the attention, but would be prepared to give away acting away for his first passion — music — if the fans ever became too much.
I was shocked when I read this. =0

I never actually thought about this sort of thing happening until I saw this article.

People asking him to bite them and some of them coming with their wounds open and ready!

I think people like this are just effing stupid and take things way too far.

It's a movie! You don't have to get so freakin' obsessed with it and harm yourself and potentially others!

It really sucks when people are making a good life for themselves, acting, singing or whatever and then have to put up with the threats of some idiot potentially infecting them because 'They WuV TWilight and wanna be a Vampire toooo!!' <_<

What the hell is wrong with people these days? Why can't anyone enjoy anything normally without turning into a freakin' psycho?

Your thoughts?

I was wondering how long it'd be until something this stupid happened >_>

Suppose that's what happens when you make a film with a guy who is 'SO HAWT' then having a target audience of teenage girls, then anything the guy is, they will want to be, such as a vampire. That's just typical teenage girls, always after the hot guy and will do anything for his attentions. Honestly though, to think it's got to the point he's considering another career path. And I guarrantee you there will be uproar if he quits Twilight for it.

Yeah, definitely. You have to realize that when you become a star - a big star for that matter - people are going to hold you to a higher than life standard. I believe that stars have 3 personalities: that of the general typical character they play (the roles they are type-casted in), the person they portray themselves as when they're not on the silver screen, but just simply being an actor and how they are out of the view of the cameras and away from prying eyes. For many stars, these three elements tend to run together; however, choosing a career in the film industry requires them to keep in mind that, no matter how average-joe they are off film, they are always going to be regarded as 'stars': unattainable, otherworldly, gods.

I can see it happening where I am at. Generally, it's really stupid to behave this way, and expect people to think you're normal. I sometimes wonder about the sanity of people who do things, and if they aren't just a danger to themselves, but to all of us.

I mean, it's okay to be crazy about something, but it's not okay to hurt yourself or others over it. It's not real, it's a book. This people need to remember that.

However, in other forums, I've heard that twilight fans are very violent as a whole. Although I'm sure that's it's just a few idoits who give them a bed reputaion.

Wow, this taking it way past obsession and into borderline insanity. I can't believe that girls would actually slice up their own necks and expect a human being, who is regarded as some kind of Hollywood god all of a sudden, to actually drink their blood. He's not a fucking vampire he is a HUMAN, and truth be told I don't blame him once bit for feeling scared of these people. I mean holy fucking shit. It's JUST a book and then a movie MADE from the book. He is not a real person, JUST a fictional character. Shit, if I were him, I'd be hiring bodyguards and crap to keep the psychotic, violent fans off of me. I feel for him. @_@

Not sure what the debate is, but my thoughts are this.. Obsession is one word, but this goes a bit beyond obsession.

I think it all breaks down into the teenage groups. The entire novel revolves around Edward this and Edward that, putting him high on the pedestal and finally when they air the movie, it shows the ultimate pretty boy (very feminine features, could easily play a girl in another movie).

So I don't know what drives women up the wall about this, but I guess its the same thing that infects the "male perverts" of our generation. I've heard some 40 year old lady sexually solicited him saying this and that. Which I'm sure wasn't the first time after the movie released.

Though the neck gashing.. that's mental if you ask me. I don't have any words to explain that.

I completely agree with the bolded part and the whole post for that matter. I do not even see how anyone in the world could be this ridiculous. It takes a serious lack of brain function for someone to get that that worked up over one single role someone played in a single motion picture. It's pretty pathetic to be honest. This is the world we live in makes you lol sometimes and sick to your stomach other times.

To be honest I find the idea of getting star struck at all pretty pathetic. There is no reason to go crazy about any celebrity ever, even your favorite musician or whoever. They are just people. They may have created something you enjoy and thats wonderful but I think the average person should be worrying about things besides what celebrities are doing.

I feel really bad for Robert. I'm a big fan of Twilight, but I'm not exactly a Twihard who would go and do something like that. No wonder he's afraid of going out in public like that if there are obsessive girls, who do these ridiculous things. They need to live in REALITY and not the world of FICTION.

It's scary how far obsession can take people. I'm a bit of a Twilight fan myself, but I honestly believe that if this gets carries on, Twilight may have to be packed in, stop producing movies and selling Twilight based gear, and it pains me to admit. D: But it's too many people to deal with individually, everyone'll have to suffer for them to learn.

As for Pattinson being scared. That's stardom for you, mate.

All I can say is fucking morons. Honestly, get a fucking grip of yourself. Dont you know between fact and fiction? Christ people are beyond retarded! Im a fan, but I wouldnt cut myself and beg an ACTOR to suck my blood. What complete twats, Im sorry but this has annoyed me. Why do "fans" do this? Seriously, do you think Bale is Batman? Or Terminators are real??? Get a grip and get a life for God sake...

I mean I know Im obessed with Matt Bellamy, but I know I wont ever marry him or kiss him, etc. Theres a border and you dont cross it. It freaks celebs out. I was part of the offical Muse forum and in a group called the PMT, Pornographic Matt Team, and he knew about us cause he visited the site. And he didnt mind, he knew it was just harmless fun and as Goofy said, its stardom. It happens. But I wouldnt jump a barrier and try and hump him there and then ... actually I might ... Anyway, my point is, I know where to draw the line. Some just dont see it ...

Oh my God. What kind of insane asylum did those girls grow up in? I understand that if you love Twilight like it's the second coming of Jesus, you can go completely gaga over it- but how can you let obsession go this far? Fiction, is NOT real, people! If people cannot identify that anymore, what hope is there for such people?

I do feel sorry for Robert. No one deserves such a shock even from fans. I don't know what to say. I'm speechless. This is just absolutely beyond control.

You know, it's pisses me off seeing people this crazy and this stupid to do something idiotic as this. It's just mindbogglingly nuts... -__-

I don't care much since I never liked the series, but still.....

Hahaha

Man, I've heard some pretty bad shit about twilight fans, but this goes far beyond Muse vs Twilight fans (both screaming that one ruined the other by putting supermassive black hole in twilight) and mashing people upside the head with a book for saying twilight is a shitty story.

No amount of words can describe how much this irritates me. This is the EXACT reason why i turned away from twilight. I like the story and all, but i don't associate with many fans because hey are too crazy over it. I can understand if they drew like bite marks with pen or X's for where it should be done, but actually making themselves bleed?! Take away their ability to reproduce. I don't want their kids running the streets later on in life.

I wanted to add something that I found sort of funny. The only fandom, other than FF of course, that I'm remarkbly crazed about is, yes it's crazy, Harry Potter. Yes, I'm one of those crazy fans. I wanted to share this because of an even in the HP fandom that I thought was crazy. Does anyone remember that lady who showed up in a HP towel to see the actors, and was like nude under it. The stars of the movies were then about 12 or 13, something like that. Back then, I thought that was crazy, but now there seems to be a new benchmark.

"WE DID THIS FOR YOU! Oh shit, someone call a Doctor, I'm getting kind of dizzy."

First it was Twilight themed box tape, now it's fans cutting themselves and trying to get a actor to suck their blood. Twilight by all means is the top of the pyramid when it comes to stupidity. Hell it's so bad it's made the current generation of kids dumber. Trust me, I didn't think that was possible.

In all seriousness, when are people going to realize that a shitty book about vampires and werewolves isn't real? Vampires aren't real, Edward is abusive, and the book is terribly written and is a farce of literature.

Stupidity has been taken to new heights on this one.

People are dick 'eds

I have some stupid fangirl obsessions, but fucking hell, why do people have to be nobs and take it that far? It's OBVIOUSLY not real, so why chase him with your blood dripping all over the shop? It amazes me when people take shit this far... it always seems to be over vampire related shit as well Ive noticed.... as long as they don't harm anyone that has common sense it would serve them all right to bleed to death in a corner somewhere surrounded by pictures of Edward bloody Cullen. Liek they really think he's going to want to chow down on their necks...HOW are these people brought up?!

I mean I know Im obessed with Matt Bellamy, but I know I wont ever marry him or kiss him, etc.

Stranger things have happened!!! THAT THOUGHT KEEPS ME GOING EACH DAY:gasp:

But I wouldnt jump a barrier and try and hump him there and then ... actually I might ... Anyway, my point is, I know where to draw the line. Some just dont see it ...

Hahahaha I SO would given the chance... xD

Ok, so I'm also Matt obsessed, but as stated above there's a line. I know it's harmless fun/fantasies, I'm never going to take it so far that's going to harm people/possibly get me sectioned. I can quite happily perv from afar 8F

Though, I can't guarantee I won't pounce should he walk past me for whatever reason...actually, I'd probably pass out

Either way, people are still nob 'eds

The end.

This bit of news does not surprise me since one of the friends I used to know got beaten up by a Twilight fan wielding a baseball bat at a local Walmart. They beaten her black and blue and even broken a few of her ribs for being caught criticizing the book in public. Twilight fans are known to be a fanatical lot but they really seem to have no qualms in being completely mad within the media's eyes.

I feel really bad for poor Robert. It seems some of his fans are completely insane and he might want to look into getting a test for HIV if he is that spooked about this encounter. He also might want to look into getting some more sercuity or such for his estate and blah blah...

Oh my God! That is awful! Was this a close friend to you?

No one, and I mean no one, deserves that kind of punishment for any trivial reason. That must have been a terrible ordeal for your friend. What were those fans thinking? No books are perfect. I love Final Fantasy, but I still see many flaws in it. I love Britain, but I still see flaws. Since when does it warrant necessity to beat up someone who doesn't share the same ideas? It's just disgusting. I wouldn't even find it excusable if they were the ones who wrote the books rather than Stephanie Meyer.

That's just horrible. With a baseball bat? Did they get in trouble for it? Personally, I would like to met up outside their house and beat them and their book with a bat. Getting violent over a book is just crazy. I mean, discussing it in a calm rationale voice is one thing, but hitting someone because they don't agree with you.

What's next? Running someone over with your car because they say that Bella is a Sue. How can someone be so in love with something so obviously fictional that they would become like this in real life. I'm a strong anti-fan of FF7, but I would never club someone with a bat just because they love it.

Dear Lord, what is the world coming to?
