Anyone remember Versus? You know, that action-RPG exclusive to the PS3? I am sure you know by now that it's jumped to next-gen with a PS4 version. But Square-Enix and Sony have failed to clarify the game's exclusivity. Until now.

Final Fantasy XV is coming to the Xbone. That is one minus exclusive for the Sony legion. According to Square-Enix's press, the basic super-vague and generic synopsis for the game's story is as follows:

The armed forces of Niflheim launch a devastating assault upon the Kingdom of Lucis, casting Crown Prince Noctis and his comrades out of their homes and into the fray. The engaging tale to follow draws audiences into an awe-inspiring world steeped in the rich storytelling traditions of Square Enix’s renowned First Production Development team.

Here is an obligatory link to the trailer you have already seen!

Kingdom Hearts III is also coming to the Xbox One, according to Square-Enix.

Please be excited!

This is fantastic news! If for some reason I decide to get the Xbox One, I won't be missing out on FFXV and KH3 like I thought I was going to during this generation! Anyway, glad to see I won't have to decide which system I should get based on exclusives for the games I like. All the games I want to play are now going to be on every console! (except Wii U, but I see nothing in the Wii U). I am a happy gamer! :D

What's the point in releasing this for XBone as well? It seems a guarantee that almost all of that game's sales will be for PS4 anyway. :wacky:

It's still a blow to Sony when you consider that virtually none of their third-party games from the conference appear to be exclusives, but I suppose it's no biggie. KH3 is especially going to bomb on a platform that has never seen a KH game before; a platform with fans that this seemingly kiddy-looking Japanese game won't cater to; a platform that the games' fans overwhelmingly aren't going to support anyway.

It will bomb on the Xbone. :ari:

EDIT: If you do get it for the Xbone, you won't own the game.

This is for more the American/ Europe fan base, I bet they wont release it on the XboxOne in Japan or China. Probably just Australia, America, and Europe, they did this with XIII also.

I can some-what understand Final Fantasy XVersus to Xbox one, but kh3 aswell? This is actually a bad idea. Theres already talk of people nor wanting the Xbox one. They might lose profit. Sounds like SE is supporting the horrible system at a costly level.

Im not happy about this, not because im a sony girl, but because this will most likely affect SE negatively.

I understand the decision from a business standpoint but they must be clueless about the public image of the thing. However as a consumer if you buy the game for xbox one you are supporting anti consumer practices not to mention that all you did was basically rent the game until the xbox one online structure shuts down in a decade or so.

Square-Enix aren't going to lose money here. They are now selling these games to all of the people who would've bought the PS4 and the game as well as any curious Xbox fans. It's not like Xbox gamers will be forced to buy Kingdom Hearts and then go "what the fuck is this Disney pish?".

No, they would lose money for making games on the xbox one and not meet their sales because A) other KH fans dont want to buy it on the xbox one for collective reasons or B) never really played kh before because who in the right mind would buy an xbox one unless your a hardcore microsoft fan.

They wont loose that much money I mean it would only be KH3 letting them down wont it...and I mean even that will be minimal at the least. They have to broaden there sales into other platforms because games cost so much more money to make. I see it as a wise business move but then I feel they should then consider porting over the HD remixes to the XB1 as well and then this might be a good addition to the xbox fan library.

I don't think it's going to be as hard in the next generation (XBox One & PS4) to create cross platform games because both systems at the core are so similar now. This time around the internal workings of the consoles aren't super different - also, major bonus, they both use Blu-Ray disks now.

I'm just bummed because LONG AGO when I bought my PS3 for FFXIII I was told that I was going to get an additional EXCLUSIVE PS3 game. I also looked forward to the stories continuing on my PSP - Square has since decided that I deserve neither of those things. (I'm talking about Versus and Agito - now Type-0)

I do agree with what people have said though - I can't see KH3 performing very well on the XBox One, FFXV might do 'okay' because it appears upfront, more hardcore in nature. I just feel bad for all those XBox'ers who are missing out on the awesomeness of KH.

I think this is actually good. It provides a chance for non-ps4 users to play the games. Whether ps fanboys want to admit it; there are still people out there that are die-hard xbox fans and now that they can play ff/kh on a system that they already love that means more money for square enix. i don't know why people are surprised with this move. after the failures that square has been going through it makes sense that they're finally reaching out to people outside of their regular audience.

more systems = more money

In my opinion, I think "exclusivity" is somewhat an ideal of the past now. It is obviously great for Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony to have a certain amount of quality exclusives as it creates a competitive market, which is a necessity to all parties but I feel the likes of Call of Duty among other popular cross-platform titles have killed the arguments that used to be had, because cross-platform has become a norm. Once upon a time it would be blasphemous to even consider Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts to be created for the Xbox but nowadays, do people really care? I myself will be purchasing a Playstation 4 because I have always been on the Sony side and there's no logical reason for me to switch, especially given recent comparisons of price, DRM etc. But do I care? No. Ultimately, I will still be able to play the game I want to play, but other people will too, and I don't think anyone can really grudge the allowance of other people to enjoy a title.

Om clearly people are missing the point. Kh3 is the last chapter of xehanort and its barely going on xbox one.
I care. ..because it could affect sales. And sales could affect se jnto making more games. Right now if ff14 fails, that coukd throw them on the deep end.

I don't think Final Fantasy is a series where it really matters what platform the next game goes onto. Because the stories are rarely connected, each game can be played totally on its own without having played any of the others, so nobody would need to know what had happened in the other games or what platforms they were on.

Kingdom Hearts is a different story, but SE completely messed that up already in terms of platform. They have story linked games, so unless you've played them all you won't have a clue what's going on, and they decided to spread them across soon to be seven platforms (PS2, GBA, DS, PSP,3DS, PS4/Xbone). Yeah, that's a great idea. So anyone who doesn't have all of those won't have a clue what's happening in the story. So really, whether you've got a PS4 or an Xbone isn't going to matter much at all, because very few people will have any idea where the game is at when it comes to KH3 anyway. Bloody stupid.

Well their making tgose hd remix compilation games but unless its not released on xboxone online store, its pointless for xbone players to buy kh3 on that system

I fail to see how putting these games on another console, where more users will be able to play it, could negatively impact sales. It's not as though people who have PS4s are going to look at it and say "OMFG it's on Xbox One as well, I'm not buying it!" regardless of how bad that system is...unless they're complete and utter morons, anyway.

But seriously, they're not going to give a damn either way. A lack of exclusivity doesn't stop people from buying games altogether; it allows more people to play them. Perhaps the cost of bringing it to the system could outweigh the benefits, but somehow I seriously doubt that is going to be the case; Xbox One deserves to crash for its draconian policies, but that isn't going to happen. When more people can access it, more can buy it, and therefore more money is made. It's not rocket science.

But I think the choice is clear either way. Buy it and own it and do whatever you want with it on PS4, or license it and never own it on the Xbox One. If you have to think about which of those two options is the better one, then you clearly don't have the intelligence necessary to play the game in the first place.

It's a big risk, because they tried it with Tomb Raider, Hitman Absolution and Kayne and Lynch but all those titles have not been successful to them. They're okay to gamble it on putting it on the Xbone, but they shouldn't be overestimating themselves!

Your just not thinking it through.

Its like aaying, lets hire more people to make a lemonstand all over the world, theres no way we can lose money!
Omeon im tired of answering this. You put it jn the system people are going to buy. Its reason why se hasnt moved ff type-0 on vita when it should be a no brainer

I wonder if the costs of porting the game to another console will be worth the effort. I doubt that morons that buy the xbox one will buy games like FF XV or KH3, all they want is their fifa and call of duty exclusive dlc's. I doubt that people with common sense would buy the xbox one versions anyway or even an xbox one to begin with so it just seems like a waste of resources to have it on xbox one.
Nevertheless it really doesnt bother me and Im all for availability, I just dont think that it is a sound business decision but then again Im no professional or anything on the subject.
