Anime Your first Time?

I'll probably not remember if the 'cartoon' I watched was an anime at all, but I guess the safest guess is Sailor Moon. I seem to have memories of catching a glimpse of it or something. I didn't watch an entire episode, just a minute or two, but that's probably the first anime I came across.

The next best guess would be Pokemon... Then Dragonball. After that came the more recent animes- meaning, present a few years back, less than a decade, in short.
 
Does Pokemon count? I dont really watch it anymore...ive sort of 'grown out' of it.
Elfen Leid was my second, I really loved that Anime, It was Brilliant.
Also, Spirited Away, But i guess anyone whos anyone has seen that :D
 
Well my very first anime would have been Pokemon a few years ago but that was a screening freezy over here a couple of years back so I wouldn't really count it.

The first proper anime I got into and which was one of the ones that got me set off as an anime fan was Full Metal Alchemist, my cousin had the series and I saw her watching it. Borrowed the first couple of disks and got into it, the rest of the story is that I started watching more anime and became a huge fan.
 
I'm not into anime anymore, but do Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! count? Got really into both of them, but then I got older and other things started to take over.
 
I'm pretty sure it was Sailor Moon. Ugh, how I miss that show. I never did finish watching it, let alone finish the first season. My first was either Sailor Moon, Pokemon or the Powerpuff Girls. Either one of those :/ I'm almost certain it was Sailor, though.
 
If it counts, then Pokemon. But that was back when I was really young and generally didn't care what I was watching, so long as it was animated, be it Pokemon or Simpsons or Scooby Doo.

The first anime I watched at a more conscious age, when I actually understood wtf I was watching must've been Hellsing.
 
Speaking strictly on a technical basis, Digimon. The theme song is in my head even now. "Digimon Digital Monsters something-something-or other-Shotgun!"

But I've vainly tried to erase that from my mind. As a 'real' anime, it was Dragonball Z. Real surprise there, seems its usually DBZ or Sailor Moon with people. I might have caught a glimpse of Sailor Moon a few times. I remember being oddly mesmerized by it. It could have just been all the bright rainbow colors and the masked guy who I mistook for Batman. XD

Of course when I watched DBZ, I didn't know it was anime. The first real anime I consciously watched was Cowboy Bebop. Its my all time favorite to this day. I practically worship it. Give me a scene and I can probably tell you the title of the episode. Anyone who's watched the show could probably tell that I love it by my set though. XD
 
Like most here my first ever anime was Sailor Moon. <3

I'm currently hunting around at the moment to find the boxset so I can finish watching it.

I remember it always used to come on before we had to leave for school and I don't think they aired the entire series.

So I really want to know what happened with her and Tuxedo Mask. XD
 
My first anime was Pokemon. I started to watch it around four or five with my older sister and we both still watch it now. I have over a hundred of those little figurines in an old shoe box under my bed.XD
 
Naruto was my first anime. Thats the only anime I ever use to watch for a LONG time. I never thought about watching other anime then. I thought what could possably be better the freakn naruto!? well... shit all the animes ive watch since then have been wayyyy better. Though Shippuuden has been pretty good this past month, just starting the saskue/itachi showdown which was one of the best fights in the manga so far beside naruto vs pain.


and wth!? pokemon doesnt count as an anime >O its a freakn kids cartoon.

Sailor moon was my first anime <3 Ah, I was so obsessed, I would come running home from school just to watch it. It's kind of silly, but I always feel a wave of nostalgia when I watch it.
 
I remember being so pissed at my dad because he took away my Dragonball Z VHS tapes. Too 'violent', so I got into Sailor Moon. Since Pokemon apparently "doesn't count", I'll just mention that I was into that too, but wasn't my first anime. I still have Mewtew (Mewtwo?) Strikes Back somewhere, lol. And I had a huge collection of cards, they're probably sitting in my basement somewhere. Oh and I watched Kiki's Delivery Service nonstop, not even kidding, it was on when I fell asleep and I put it on in the morning.
ANYWAY
Later on, and I mean much later on, when I was getting Advent Children, it was in the Anime section, so I saw InuYasha and bought that. That could be considered my first, but it depends on how you see it because that was the first one I actually paid attention to. With Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon, I wasn't really paying attention to the story as much as I was with InuYasha.

It's still a Japanese cartoon, isn't it? That's what's considered anime, not if it's a kids show or not.

This is silly.

Of course it's an anime. Regardless of the rating or whether you like it or not it is still an anime.

Some might say that Naruto is a kids cartoon. Does that make it anything other than what it is?

Please think before saying things like this next time thanks.

Now lets get back on track with the topic at hand please. =)

My first anime was Sailor Moon...I got up really early one morning when I was younger, and it was on TV. I got up early every morning to watch it after that until they stopped airing it. XD

The first anime I watched knowing it was an anime was Death Note. I was badgered into watching it by a friend...to be honest, I prefer the manga, its a lot easier to take it seriously, but it was good enough to make me explore a little more.

Obviously I watched things like Pokemon when I was growing up, but these were just other cartoons to me at the time. I didn't become aware that Japanese cartoons have a different name until I was about 15.
 
Lol, mine is definitely Sailor Moon, then Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, and so forth on.

My first anime was Dragonball Z. My friend got me into watching it. I use to watch it every time it aired on Cartoon Network. I don't ever regret watching it because its a great anime show and still is to this day. If I ever want to watch a Dragonball Z episode I just pop in one of the disc from my box seasons.

I didn't know the word Anime till I was 12 and found out Dragonball Z was an anime at 12. The other anime I known watching was an anime called Inuyasha which appeared on Adult Swim. It still appears on Adult swim but at 5:00 A.M. but that is too late lol.

After Inuyasha I watched an anime called Bleach, Naruto, Deathnote, and One Piece and so many others. Now I watch about a total of 12 animes.
 
lol most of you never started with any other anime besides what was aired on tv? That is pretty funny.....

Anyways on topic: Classic GUYVER series, VHS 6 episodes, later they made more and remakes, I started with several anime which titles I have forgotten. Later on AKIRA the movie, only then DBZ etc...pokemon..

Nothing wrong with that though. This about are first anime we watched and mine was DBZ but other animes I watch that do not appear on TV is Phantom:Requiem For The Phantom, Needless, Blade of The Immortal etc. but most of the ones I watch are aired on TV but nothing wrong with that.
