I didn't level my weapons at all. I didn't get stuck at any bosses in the game either. In fact, I still haven't leveled any weapons for anyone--even after beating the game.

But my brother told me that he started before the second last summon. My sister started right away, since she's a crappy gamer to begin with and needs the extra help anyways.

But when did you guys start if at all? And if you didn't, then why not?

I think I started about chapter 10, I couldn't decide what to level, whether to bother in case I levelled one then found another one that might be better... eh I was just suffering from super indecisiveness so I didn't bother for ages

I think it was about Chapter 11 on Pulse when I finally contemplated on upgrading the weapons. I got to the Archylte Steppe determined to get some CP farming done (starting with those Behemoths). Unsurprisingly they gave me a hard time at first, so I figured that I should finally try and maximise what I have in my inventory and make the weapons and armour moderately decent.

Earlier on I couldn't decide what to upgrade and what to upgrade it with as well. I kept telling myself that there's probably no point upgrading the weapon(s) I have now as I am bound to locate a stronger one later in a chest or something. And prior to Chapter 11, the game was hardly a challenge anyway, except for one or two battles.

If I recall I started in Chapter XI since that is when the hard part began. I had to upgrade Lightning's blazefire saber into something much better for the 2nd fight with Barty. Probably beat the game with level 5 or 6 2nd tier weapons which actually worked to beat the last boss. After the game I attempted 100% ing XIII which I did. I now have Fang's best weapon Kains lance at level 100 and Lightning's at level 87 or so. No point in upgrading everybody. I say if you play as Fang with her ultimate at level 100 you can pretty much survive anything. Chapters I-X were not so bad. I only lost on a few fights. Chapter XI is where you really need to upgrade..

I started in Chapter 11 when I did weapon comparisons. I noticed the best weapons received were not until later on anyway, so upgrading the stuff you get at lower offers little benefits.

Though Accessories is another thing altogether. Honestly it costs SOOOO much to get to lvl 3. I'd say wait till you beat the game the first time to truly work on your weapons. It wouldn't hurt to get at least get your weapons to lvl 2 or *'d at least by the end of chapter 13.

I didn't start upgrading until almost the end of the game and I can't remember exactly when to be honest. The only reason I did was because I intended to do the extra missions and to get the ultimate weapons postgame. You also really can't afford to be able to do any real upgrading until postgame when you have the strength be be able to take down some of the heavier duty enemies like Adamantoises, Shao Long Gui, and Long Gui....which reap the more useful rewards like Trapz, Platinum Ingots, and Gold Nuggets.

I've heard that a lot of people didn't even bother upgrading their weapons throughout the whole game and ended up beating the game just fine...so you really didn't need the upgrades to be able to finish. This is why I found the whole concept of upgrading and having all the different weapons in the game sort of pointless...unless you really enjoyed the game and planned on going back postgame for the accessories and ultimate weapons. Most of the benefits of the weapons and their abilities didn't prove handy for me during the majority of the game and even postgame. The only thing I did like out of the ultimate weapons was the increased debuffing of Vanille's Belladonna wand because she then became a more effective Saboteur...oh yeah and Kain's lance (I chose the Taming Pole version) on Fang because she became a brutal fighter with it + some strength increasing accessories.

I didnt level the weapons up to new Models.

I just powered up there default weapons, The Blazefire Sabre and the Bladed Lance had custom inscriptions on them and I have a thing for weapons like that, outside of that I just leveled up there Weapons for the roles they would play Vanille, Improved cure, Snow.....Improved guard.

I really didn't bother about levelling up weapons after all it doesn't help you that much anyway does it...........however I did level up everything (accessory's included) before playing
Orphan
and I stupdily sold almost every crap weapon including leonheart.........just for particle accelorators........in order to level up for the accessory's and weapons for Lightining,Fang and Vanille.............I didn't know that there was a last CP stage and that they'd offer you a chance to save.........when I was given the option to save I forgot about the things I'd sold and overwrite save file............(fuck sake) :rage:

About Chapter 13, if it wasn't for Orphan I wouldn't have even bothered to then either. The only reason I started upgraded was because I was slightly unlevelled and underpowered so I did it to boost the attack. I think it's more of a necessity really when you're doing the missions.

In my first play-through, I don't really recall when I started...it may have been when I first had the opportunity to. I just remember trying to do so massive upgrading in order to beat Barthandelus the second time.

In my most recent play-through, I didn't upgrade immediately. I don't recall when exactly, but at this point (just left Gran Pulse) I have only upgraded Lightning's Axis Blade to * level. I haven't gotten an Adamantite yet to upgrade it further though...

I upgraded the weapons at chapter 4 I believe. I did not really understand what I was doing so it took me a while to figure out how upgrading the weapons and accessories worked. By the end of the game I had two fully upgraded 2nd tier weapons and one tier 3 weapon.

Wait.... you can upgrade the weapons? I've played this game for about 2 hours now, on chapter 3. Have I passed the tutorial yet?

No, you've not, I think it's
chapter 4
when you get it. (Spoiler tags in case you didn't want to know.)

You won't miss it though, don't worry.

On my first run of this game, I didn't do it in fear of doing it wrong or using the wrong stuff and needing it later, but it was about chapter 11 when I decided to give it a go and do it. (I think)
I upgraded accessories a lot more than weapons on my first run though, purely for the stat bonuses. (Str/mag)

If i'm honest though, you can get a much quicker stat boost out of an accessory than a weapon, although weapons have more of a long term plan in mind. (Or I could just be chatting utter utter shite)

Ah! Thankies Oerba. I have passed it and started upgrading a bit. It's nice that it's possible to upgrade the darn accessories as well, that makes purchasing stuff a much shorter list.

Okay, so the big question: Which weapons/accessories to focus all that upgrading on?

Personally I upgrade accessories a lot at first and then slowly move on to weapons, having a x3 multiplier helps a lot. (Simplest solution: 36 Sturdy Bones = instant x3 multiplier)

For the attackers of the group like Light/Fang/Snow I give them upgraded STR boosters, and the same with mag for the mages. I wouldn't recommend using bangles personally as I don't find the gains all that good.

Weapons are great once you start getting to Tier 2, but they can take some time to upgrade to see any good effect. Which is why I start with accessories.

I started upgrading my weapons after the 1st battle with barthandelus, i needed to upgrade lightning's weapon as i seemed to have struggled with barthandelus so i needed the extra damage

As soon as I could. Of course, then, I had had no idea of what I was doing... but, now, I seem to be getting the hang of it. A little... >.<;;
