[V5] What are you currently listening to?

Ne-Yo - Beautiful Monster

This is probably my favourite song from him right now, so glad it topped our charts months ago. Now he might not be seen as the greatest vocalist in some critics' minds, but I certainly enjoy listening to this. The production of this is pitch perfect. There's a really dark theme. It's my sort of song. I love it the intensity of it.

Take That - The Flood

Really, one of the only songs I like on there album after downloading it. I prefer most of their singles before their new album apart from this one which I like too. It sounds more like their old stuff, whereas the rest of the album sounds pretty mainstream like they're trying to modernise themselves when really, they were good enough as they were. I blame Robbie.

Jughead's Revenge - Weight of the world

I finally found someone last week to download the Just Joined album from. I was listening to Jughead's Revenge in high school but I lost their best album in my first apartment. It brings good old memories to listen it again. This song is what I call a slow punkrock song. 8/10

The Fleetwoods - Come Softly To Me

Yes, I found it by playing Mafia II. :mokken:

The more songs I find that were recorded in the 50's, the more I realize just how terrible some of the things we hear on the radio today are. It's absurd how many people can become rich off of absolutely no talent at all. But anyway. I'm glad to see that games like these are turning people back towards these music genres because hopefully it'll open their eyes as well.

I think I also really like music like this because the lyrics can talk about love without making it sound childish or, in contrast, disgustingly explicit.

Britney Spears - 3

Love this song.

It took me a while to get into it, but then I got addicted to it.

Not too fond of the video clip but it doesn't ruin the song for me if I do watch it.

Unlike Lady Gaga's Alejandro! I loved that song until I saw that disturbing video clip. =(

sprawl II (mountains beyond mountains) - arcade fire
i've totally fallen in love with this over the last couple of weeks. definitely my track of 2010. it has an amazing nostalgic pop feel to it that hooks me every time.

The United States of Pop 2010 - Don't Stop the Pop

......Not..bad, but far from DJ Earworm's best. I knew practically every song this time around, but the entire thing just felt choppy. With his 2009 mashup (Blame it on the Pop) everything flowed neatly and part of what made it so amazing is that despite it clearly being made of different songs, the whole thing formed a consistent if ever so slightly off-the-wall song. This unfortunately, just felt like a train wreck. I couldn't tell which direction the thing was going in at all.

Then again if you're trying to line Ke$ha up with Bruno Mars and Train, I'm not sure what else you could expect. Ah well.

Louis Prima - Oh Marie

Yet another great song. The sax solo is fantastic. Haven't heard much from the artist but after hearing this I'm sure I'll have to check some stuff out.

Oh Marie (Oh Marie)
Oh Marie (Oh Marie)
In your arms I'm longin' to be (Longin' to be)
Baby (Baby)
Tell me you love me (Tell me you love me)
Kiss me once while the stars shine above me (Shine above me)
Hey Marie (Hey Marie)
Oh Marie (Oh Marie)
In your arms I'm longin' to be (Longin' to be)
Oh baby (Oh baby)
Tell me you love me (Tell me you love me)
Hey Marie (Hey Marie)
Hey Sammy, come here boy

Runaway Train - Avantasia

One of their somewhat slower songs that picks up as it goes along. Parts of it kinda remind me of Led Zeppelin (the way the song changes pace (increasing each time) in three separate stages before repeating an earlier part at the very end) and some of Meat Loaf (the pacing of the final verse in the latter half of the song). It's one of my favorites off the Wicked Symphony album.

Weezer - Photograph

I've known Weezer since The blue album but my Ex made me rediscover them with the Green album. I remember both of us singing songs from that album together. This song is very catchy and there is almost a simplistic wisdom in those lyrics about love.

"If you want it, you can have it
But you've got to learn to reach out there and grab it"

Erasure - Always [click to listen]

If you've played Robot Unicorn Attack, you most likely know this song. But its the most beautiful song I heard in a long while. And I had started listening to it 10 minutes ago, and I'm listening to it as I type all of this now. I've nagged my friend to sing it with me before in a 'karaoke minute', and I felt on top of the world as I sang the lyrics along with her. I fucking love this song.

Gorillaz- Rhinestone Eyes

I love this song, this is my favorite from Plastic Beach. Their music is always so different from anything else you'll ever hear...and I guess thats why I like it so much. This is every bit as good as feel good inc. ...just slower and not so dancey.

^I love the Gorillaz :gasp: They're awesome :D

Right now though, I'm listening to:

Corey Hart- "Never Surrender"

I've heard this song a million times, having grown up with a lot of 80's music on the radio as a kid, but I heard it again today for the first time in a while, and it stood out in my head for some reason. So, I came home, and after doing other things am finally listening to it now, and...wow. Even though it may sound musically like a lot of 80's pop songs, the lyrics are totally more amazing than I'd ever realized. Usually (unless you're listening to someone like Tears for Fears <3), it's kind of hard sometimes to filter through 80's music for non-romantic songs, but this song, despite my prior belief, is not about romance at all. It can be I suppose, but it's mostly about just never giving up, and after listening to it a bunch of times, it's really inspirational O.O I'm really happy that I looked it up again, it's a great song. 10/10.

Just a little more time is all we're asking for
Cause just a little more time could open closing doors
Just a little uncertainty can bring you down

And nobody wants to know you now
And nobody wants to show you how

So if you're lost and on your own
You can never surrender
And if your path won't lead you home
You can never surrender
And when the night is cold and dark
You can see, you can see light
Cause no one can take away your right to fight
And to never surrender

With a little perseverance, you can get things done
Without the blind adherence that has conquered some

And nobody wants to know you now
And nobody wants to show you how

So if you're lost and on your own
You can never surrender
And if your path won't lead you home
You can never surrender
And when the night is cold and dark
You can see, you can see light
Cause no one can take away your right to fight
And to never surrender
To never surrender

And when the night is cold and dark
You can see, you can see light
And no one can take away your right to fight
And to never surrender
To never surrender

Oh, time is all we're asking for
To never surrender
Oh, you can never surrender
The time is all you're asking for
Ooh, stand your ground, never surrender...
I said, you never surrender...

Taylor Swift- Back to December

Alot of people say it's about Taylor Laughtner and her break-up with him. I at first loved Taylor Swift but, he songs got boring and annoying after a while. I use to think she was over-rated because all her songs were the same. This song took my breath away. Its truly a beautiful song and I must say, i'm addicted to it. Because of this song, I don't think too badly of her XD.

I like the fact that she writes her songs. Some artist don't do that and, thats what makes Taylor really amazing IMO. I admit, she has talent.

Great great song.

Together Forever - Rick Astley

It's about as cheesy as the (in)famous "Never Gonna Give You Up", but I have to say this is a pleasantly catchy song and IMO better than NGGYU.

I think he's dancing inside a giant magician's scarf in the video.

Flag in the Ground (symphonic version) - Sonata Arctica

My favourite song from The Days of Grays...I only like the symphonic version, though. It's odd, all the symphonic versions of the songs on this album are incredible, but the normal versions are absolutely horrendous...

Roy Hamilton - You Can Have Her

At first I didn't think I'd like this song, the beginning was pretty slow and didn't seem to interest me much but after listening to the rest I really like it. Lyrics are pretty funny at one point as well. :wacky:

I can tell I'll be humming it later. :hmph: Super catchy.

Well, you can have her, I don't want her,
She didn't love me anyway.
She only wanted someone to play with
But all I wanted was love to stay.

Well, you get stuck with the wrong woman
There's only one thing that you can do:
Just dig a hole and jump right in it,
And pull the ground right over you.

Well, you can have her I don't want her I don't
Want her,
She didn't love me anyway anyway.
She only wanted someone to play with
But all I wanted was love to stay.

The girl I love, she, up and left me,
She ran away with my best friend.
Comes home at night just for an hour
When day light comes she's gone again.

Life without love is mighty empty,
But confessions good for the soul.
I'd rather have love that I can cling to
Than have the world and all of it's gold.

You can have her, I don't want
Her,
She didn't love me, anyway.
She only wanted some one to
Play with
Oh! was love to stay
Oh!

You can have her
I don't want her
She didn't love me anyway anyway
She only wanted someone to play with someone to play
With
But all I want
All I want
All I want
All I want.
