The Nine Worlds: RP

Samuel: The Unleashing.

The tunnel shook, causing Samuel to drop to his knees with a cry of shock and pain. The tarmac of the road cut into his legs, tearing through the feeble fabric of his trousers and drawing blood and making him groan, more in annoyance than in pain. No doubt the rumbling was the city being finished off. That kid that had punched out Samuel and the odd masked woman were probably dead by now. Overwhelmed by sheer force. Ashe and Crimson Wolf were likely dead now too.

The thought made him feel sick again, and he clutched his chest as he tried to stand up, sick of the aching sting.

But he then found he couldn't get up. His knees... were rooted to the ground! He couldn't do anything but hold his chest as ragged bursts of breath left his body and were drawn in again. Coughing painfully, Samuel could only watch as a green circle exploded from around him, painfully bright and flickering with green sparks. He gasped, gritting his teeth as the burning senstion extended to his throat.

Anastasia

Anastasia glanced at the girl before her, and allowed herself a little smile. She knew who the girl had been the moment she approached them. Otherwise she would have killed her where she stood. Anastasia had no qualms about killing little children, but as for the Mistress of the Underworld... well that was a different matter.

"We'd best be prepared." She looked at the little girl and Taylana. "I'm not sure what's up ahead, but it isn't one of our's-"

She was cut off by the rumbling sound as the tunnel shook. It seemed as though Nereid had carried out his mission, and put the Big Apple to sleep.

"Mission complete..." she murmured to herself.

Samuel

Samuel let out a cry as a huge jet of green light flew from his chest, and hovered a few feet away from him, dancing like a sprite or nymph he'd heard about in legends, before expanding into a huge circular portal, spitting emerald sparks.

And now... something was stepping out of the portal. A... a monster?! It- she- was made entirely from grass, twigs, leaves and moss. Standing seven feet tall, her face twisted into an expression of fury and hate. Her eyes were dark as coal, and she now turned them on Aria. An expression of malicious delight flickered across the plant-woman's features as she raised hands made of tree bark, with vicious, oversized needles as fingernails. She stood straight as the portal to where ever she had come from faded, and launched herself at Aria.

And was thrown back inches before touching Aria, grabbed by the arm and hurled away. She was surprisingly light for something so tall.

Samuel, whohad rebelled the woman and thrown her to one side, limped to stand in ront of Aria and Koodori, bent with pain and exhaustion almost as low as Aria, his face a cold mask of pain and exhaustion. Reaching down, he drew his dagger as the plant woman stood up straight, and prepared to attack again.

OOC: I'll control the plant-woman's actions. So please direct your attacks at her the same way you would anyone else.

OOC2: The light from the portal can be bright enough for Lindt and Bones to see, if you want them to join us.

"What the?!"

Crystal looked at Samuel as the green light erupted from his chest and turned into this green portal. Crystal looked at Koodori with a serious look and as he did he darted towards Aria and stood by her side.

"Aria, stay by my side."

Crystal walked slowly backwards holding her palm ontop of the whip's shaft. It was then this woman like being walked out of the portal. A being made out of leaves, moss and other resources from the nature that seemed to give off this threatening aura. As it then charged for Aria it was grabbed by the hand and thrown aside by the brave Samuel. Crystal was surprised over this guys strength, yet she was coutious as this being erupted from the chest of his.

Koodori on the other hand did not know how to deal with this situation. This was all too unreal for him, even thou he had been able to accept his own powers it was odd too see something like this infront of him, but for now there where other things that bothered him.

He kept on thinking about the people that they left behind so they could run away. And now Saul jumped infront of him and Aria to protect them. He was sick of it. He closed his eyes and moved a few steps back, a purple aura starting to shine from his body as his body started to move by itself. Steps taking exceptional technique to do he started to dance behind Aria. As the purple aura finally engulfed his body his allies would feel stronger with magic and have their defensive capabilities strengthened.

Crystal could feel this boost of magical power within her body as she was one who used such power herself. Knowing that this beast infront of them would attack anytime soon she put her palm infront of her, flames starting to form within her hand.

"Take this you piece of mold! Flame Harpoon!"

As Crystal flung her arm infront of her a highly concentrated fireball went on a collision course towards the enemy and on impact would explode hoping to do some sort of damage to this piece of trash infront of them.

"I ... managed to do it on my own.. Interesting."

Kat-The Wraith's Kiss:

Looking up to see the creature, she picked herself up, but her face twisted in pain as the poison started to take hold, she felt as if every nerve in her body was on fire.

Despite this, Katharna had to fight through the pain if she is to survive the way to the other side. Drawing her pistol, Kat thought that maybe she could repeat the process she made, touching the granite rock that used to be a car, she thought as it turned into a giant pillow made of feathers, picking up the giant pillow, she was able to toss it at the plant monster, touching it at the last second to change it back to it's normal state before tiring herself out.

Kat hoped that the attack would knock the creature off it's feet and crush it under the vehicle's weight.

OOC: To be fair, it's about the size of a VW Beetle.

Sarvophis had been travelling through the sewers in an attempt to locate and stop the Pure Ones when he heard a tremendous series of sounds that thundered above him.

He slowed his pace as these sounds echoed around the sewers. Before he could react he heard a being speak to him from behind.

"Listen, it's been a pretty crazy day, I had the choice of entering the sewers forced on me when all of the buildings in New York City started collapsing, so if you'd not attack, that would be great..." said Crimson Wolf.

Sarvophis was puzzled. Could he be too late? Had he failed? Sarvophis hadn't expected New York to be levelled that soon. He pieced the scene together in his mind, correlating the thunderous noises from above with the wolfman's statement that all of the buildings had fallen.

Sarvophis was furious. He growled at the being who told him the news, and bashed his head against the roof of the sewers repetitively, swooshing the sewer-water with his tail from side to side. Dust and crumbled rock fell down from above as his head started to bleed.

He calmed down and took a good look at the person stood near him. Could he be a Pure One? He certainly wasn't human, or anything from this mortal realm for that matter.

"What are you? Wolfman?" he asked cautiously, slithering towards him.

On closer inspection he lowered his guard.

"Wait... I sense no evil in you... Only good and a desire to save the mortals. You are suffering heartache over those that have just died above... Wait.. You... You're not of this realm, so who are you?..."

Sarvophis circled around the wolfman, taking a good long look at his features, trying to suss out his purpose and affiliation. After a few minutes he stopped suddenly, a startled look occupied his face, and then he subsequently bowed his head.

"My apologies, sire. My eyes had failed me..."

He recognised the being as none other than the God of Thunder. He then spat into the sewer water and splashed the sewerage towards the wolfman's face.

"So they have sent gods now have they?! Do they mock me?! Do I need to be here at all?!! What purpose have I in this realm if gods have came to salvage it?"

Sarvophis slammed his tail hard against the roof of the sewers, poking out a hole. He then squeezed his head through it and took a peek at the flattened city of New York.

"And you did a bloody good job of it!!!"

Sarvophis roared at the sky, and then climbed out of the sewer. If the gods themselves had failed to protect the city, he feared that the situation was beyond all hope and there was little purpose of his being here.

Brunhilde

The dust began to settle. It was truly devastating. As a Valkyrie, she felt the thousands of lives go out in that instant, heard the cries for help and salvation. Her wings streamlined and Brunhilde slid downwards back towards ground zero, dropping lightly onto the pavement as her wings dissipated. All around, everything was totally destroyed. The once great human metropolis was now devoid of life and its former glory. It was silent all around. No signs of life showed anywhere, but nonetheless, Brunhilde began walking the streets, her senses raised to pick out any call for help. There had to be some survivors.

OOC: Brunhilde will be walking around for a post or two before, hopefully running into someone.

OOC: Hey leader, is your character poisoned? By what? If its not story related, then i was wondering if my character can heal it as to test her ability?

Lindt

Not even a second after she had declared herself, a bright, emerald beam of light shot straight into the air. The sudden light blinded Lindt and she toppled back from the roof and landed on her butt. A second later, a loud commotion roared all around the tunnel. Crashing and explosions of sort meant some battle. No less, it seemed to be inching slowly towards them. Lindt planted her back against the bus and peeked out, only to go back in.

What in the world? A tree?

Once more, her head popped out. The tree, now seen with her goggles, was more of a woman and was moving. A girl on the floor had hurled a pillow that turned into a car and a woman, more close to her age, threw a bloody fireball.

Holy shit. Its final fantasy all over again.

It was more a comment of how ridiculous the situation was than in awe and joy of a game in real life. They needed help. The tree woman was closing in on a trio of kids (exactly how old is Aria, Koodori and samuel? i cant find their profile) while the girl that threw the pillow/car seemed to be worse for wear. Lindt nashed and grinded her teeth in fustration.

Hey, im going to help!

Right after telling Bones that, Lindt turned the corner and charged straight out.

Argh....SHIT!

Lindt levelled her gun at the monster and let loose the eight .30-06 rounds straight towards the tree woman, slotted in another clip and let loose again. By then, she had reached the girl with the wierd trasmutating power.

Oi, you 'kay?

Helping the girl and holding the garand was not possible, so Lindt swapped her rifle and pulled her pistol out, offering her other hand towards the girl before she noticed something odd. Her bandages for her own wound had slipped off and there was absolutely no hints of the recent shrapnel skewering she had recieved mere minutes ago.

Does mind over matter reall work?

Now wasn't the time to think about it though. Better to get to cover.

C'mon! Grab my hand before that thing turns to us!

The Serpent, both at the news of the city above being totaled, and the realization that the one in his presence, whom spoke of this, was a god, specifically the God of Thunder, caused an uproar, and spoke unpleasant words.

"Could have done without that..." Crimson Wolf said to himself, getting the sewage splashed on him off as much as he could, after the serpent had fled the sewers for the city above.

"And it's not like I am the only God in the city...but, this isn't over, not yet, the deaths of all those innocent civilians...those responsible, they will pay for this, I'm getting out of this stinking sewer, back up to the city and making sure there isn't still miraculously some survivors still."

Without letting another moment pass he headed back up to the surface, and surveyed the area, then began his hunt in hopes to find even just one survivor, some life still in the city, that is not of the Pure Ones.

As he ran about the ruined New York City, he tried to catch as much of a breeze as he could to dry himself off, as one of his abilities required that he is not at all wet, he was going to be ready for anything now, no telling what chaotic figure could walk the remains of the city now.

Kiko looked up and noticed a light form the other end of the tunnel. He was not sure where the light had came from, but saw something that made him a little uneasy. A creature was coming from where the light was. He was not the only one that was stunned by this, as he heard everyone else's reactions.

"What the hell is that?" He said aloud.

He pulled back his bow and aimed at the creatures head. Without a second thought, he let loose the arrow and watched as the arrow went on course. He knew his shot would hit the target, but he did not know if it would have any effect on the creature.

Ellie-Genocide City:

Ellie landed in the remains of what once the City Suburb of Harlem. The city was destroyed, it's people killed. Ellie picked up a golden necklace with a holy cross on it. It was immediately turned to dust in the wind, the first city to fall to these "Pure Ones"

Still, it gave her time to think of her personal failures, of how her would be einherjar was refused to her because she wallowed too deep in darkness and died believing that she could have been something better.

Soon she saw a figure in the distance, flying out to meet the survivor, it turned out to be her sister.

"Hello, my sister." She had a look of disappointment on her face, but despite everything, at least there were survivors.

Katharina-Unnecessary But Weclome Help

OOC: The poison is storyline driven, though you can cure Kat of the muscle spasms, which is one of the side effects.

IC:

Oi, you 'kay?

Kat looked up at the person who just arrived. She had a WWII era gun, but why she was here made no difference.

"I'm fine.." Kat said in a serious, yet sarcastic tone. "just having some growing pains." The girl offered her hand, which while Kat would never accept help due to beliving just that from anyone unless it was a situation where it is of a serious or life-threatening concern, this is one of those moments.

C'mon! Grab my hand before that thing turns to us!

Taking her hand, the girl said, "Fine..." Kat pulled out her own pistol and grabbed her hand. Hopefully, the two females would watch each other's backs until they get to safety.

Samuel

He could barely stand for exhaustion, his mouth dripping deep, dark crimson blood. His busted lip had reopened, and he was fighting pain and exhaustion now, and losing.

Katharina threw: a pillow which turned into a car?!- at the woman, yet she missed as the woman ducked fluidly under and aimed a sweeping kick at Katharina's legs, before performing an elegant backspring, just in time to be hit with Crystal's fireball, and set alight. Her plant body was a wreath of flames as she ran around, the moss on her legs and branches that made up her chest ablaze.

Yet even as she was burning down, she found time to lunge forward at Crystal, who she now perceived as her biggest threat, claws outstreched in a stabbing motion, hoping to impale Crystal through the heart.

Raym.

"My Tallllon," Raym's voice whispered inside Talon's head. "Follow our little imposssster. Make sure he doesss thingsss right."

Talon nodded, and walked off towards the Holland Tunnel. He had to succeed, or this time, he would not lie long enough to see his master's rage.

ARIA

(OOC: I'll make a post with Saul, once Damon posts, and one with Taylana after this fight)

She heard him... his sweet voice soothing her soul, calming the wracking sobs... But then there was something else. A flash of green light, followed by the unmistakable sounds of fighting. Aria finally took a peek between her fingers.

A plant lady? And she was attacking her comrades!

She watched Koodori dance, envious that he could help his friends... but then... hadn't she done something peculiar earlier? When she had played her harp and helped to cheer her friends up? She was sure it was something along those lines.

And she the little blonde girl rose to her feet, watching the now blazing tree ... thing, target Crystal.

Fingers danced deftly over the strings of her harp, her voice accompanying it with a rich throaty aria that seemed to reverberate from her very core. The notes, all shining and silver this time, rippled in waves from her, before rushing all at once towards Crystal and locking together before the mage, creating a magical barrier to protect the woman behind it.

Aria continued her song, the notes throbbing with a pale white light, strengthening, waiting for the impact from the plant thing's attack.

Sweat beaded the girl's brow as she wait in anticipation. It wasn't exactly what she had expected to happen and the strain it was taking to keep the barrier linked as enough to almost drive her to her knees. But still the singer allowed her crystal-clear voice to flow. She had to do something to help her friends, even if it drove her to the point of exhaustion.

OOC: Short post again...

Katharina felt herself tripped up with a sweeping kick that knocked her back down, and causing her further pain. Her blue eyes looked on at the tree spirit, as she struggled to get back up, and once again extended a hand to the girl who offered to help. Kat hoped that this female would be able to get her safely into cover so she could recover and fight back.

PATIENCE

Hey, im going to help!

Bones nodded absentmindedly as the girl rushed down the tunnel towards the fray. He quickly pulled another card from the deck. Six of Diamonds. "Stay away from its left side, belle!" He hoped she had heard him.

For his own part, Bones took his time approaching the plant monster and the group pitched in battle with it. He was not really a fighter, and was most certainly not a fan of the outcomes he saw when he fought. Most of them involved pain, and Bones didn't like being in pain. Once within a decent range, he once again separated his blade from his walking stick and prepared to fight.

MY KIND OF PLACE

The destruction was total.

The Phoenix touched down on the outskirts of Manhattan. She had grown up in the Bronx, very near here, and she no longer recognized the skyline. She did not recognize it because there was no longer a skyline. The horizon was flat, and she could see all the way into the Atlantic Ocean, or across to Jersey, or to Connecticut, depending on which direction she looked.

In a normal person, this type of loss of something so visible, so prevalent, so overbearing throughout their entire life would have come as a shock. It would have shaken them to the core. Instead, in the phoenix, there was awe at the thought of the amount of power the being who managed to level Manhattan must possess. There was a hunger to harness that type of power for herself. There was a joy, reveling in the amount of lives lost and buildings destroyed.

Loudly the phoenix laughed.

CRYSTAL

Crystal had a smirk all over her face as the magic she used seemed to have great effect on the monster infront of them. She thought of herself quite highly as she managed to deliver such a huge blow, but she had to thank Koodori for his aid. Thinking she have won the battle she turned to everyone with a smile on her face.

"Well that was a push--"

She looked at the burning monster as it lunged itself towards her. She thought it was dead for sure, that it would not have any power too do another attack. Her eyes widened as she was in some sort of shock. She could not comprehend this entire situation anymore, was she not strong?

As the monster finally got close enough to hurt her she noticed the silver notes that Aria had sung with such a serene voice. The notes formed infront of her as a protective shield. She prayed that this shield would protect her from the vile beast.

--
KOODORI

Koodori danced bravely to keep the magical boost and defensive boost active on his allies with his magical dance. He kept doing it, but his body was not used to this surge of power. Images then struck his mind of the people that stayed behind which fate was still unknown to him.

Becouse he cared so much, even for people he just met minutes ago images struck his mind that showed bloody, ruined bodies of the once that stayed behind. Making him unconcentrated he tripped and hit his head on a rock knocking him out of comission for the time being.

A little...Guidance:

Raym decided to check in on his new toy and began to delve into the link he had created between himself and Kat, searching through her mind like a piercing white hot knife, he sought through her darkest despairs, her fears and her biggest fantasties, until he eventually found something he could work with...something about her brother.

Once again posing as her concience, he gave her suggestive ideals, hoping to invoke powerful emotions and a strong reaction by using the memory of her brother...

"My brother would be ashamed of me right now, he must think I'm so weak....and foolish...I need to hit this creature hard and fast where it hurts, I need to look for a weak spot....possibly a heart" Raym gestured inside her mind, despite knowing the creation was that of chaos, during his mind searching he had noticed an inner darkness within Kat that he could manipulate, a weakness that he could grasp onto and use against her in his little mind games.

He chuckled wickedly to himself as he made his way into the tunnels himself, despite the fun and games, he had a target of his own....a memory that was scared in his mind of a young girl that had banished him several years prior, and he wanted his revenge!

(OOC: if there is a double post can someone delete the other?))

Wylfred stumbled through the Holland tunnel's darkness. His precious jewels losing their gleam in the darkness. All but one really shown. It had belonged to Wyl's baby sister before she disappeared long ago. The tunnel was dark and long, and Wylfred walked through, hearing voices every now and then. He could feel his glowing pendant bouncing on his chest, the cold steel making him shiver.

Suddenly he bumped into someone up ahead. He couldn't see her though. "Oh! I'm sorry!" he said.

"Watch where you're going!" said Laleth in the darkness.

She couldn't see the person who bumped into her but by the sound of his voice, he sounded older..."Like I said, I'm sorry..." Wylfred spoke as he continued to walk in the dark tunnel.

He seemed to have bumped into a little girl from the sound of her voice. He could hear her footstepps now echoing beside him. "Shouldn't you be off somewhere safe?" Wylfred asked.

"Shouldn't you be minding your business?" Laleth mocked.

"Whatever, lights at the end of the tunnel." Wylfred said as he saw the light at the other end leading to New Jersey.

It felt good to step out into the sunlight. Laleth held her parisol over her head to sheild herself from harmful UV rays. Wylfred however took a nice long stretch in the sunlight. "Ah! Much Better!" he said smiling.

But as he looke dover at Laleth, something about her face seemed awfully familiar. She ignored Wylfred and walked past him keeping on her way. Wylfred stood in wonder at her. She looked like...His mother...

Arukab was walking through the death and horrible destruction he saw. He was absolutely horrified at this and he did not want to see any more. His daughter Luna must have been furious as to the extremely fast soul transferring. He could only imagine, with her temper and attitude.

He went on to try and find anybody that could be alive, in search for someone to interact with. He was feeling heavy walking with his silver wings and horns, but he would have to deal with it, besides, after this, you never know what may happen. It was an interesting day indeed. The power he saw today was awesome and he had feared it. This could kill him if he was caught in a battle face-to-face and one on one. He would try to avoid that for now. What really itched at Arukab's skin was that they killed absolutely everyone with, to his knowledge, no reason at all. This made his blood boil as he clenched his fists.

He was aimlessly walking at this point, hoping to find someone alive. It wasn't impossible, there were sewers and underground areas that may have survived.

OOC: wait for damon for Lloyed

Luna listened as the two explained what was going on. She was unsure if they were on the same side and really confused. They seemed to get along and everything, but it seemed as if they were fighting earlier. Luna decided to say to them, "Well that's not the answer I wanted but I'm going to follow you guys if you like it or not. And you better treat me right or You'll just have to stand being hit hard!" She was very serious about this, and no matter what the two said, Luna would follow them...

OOC: After Saul starts to get his ass handed to him, ill post for Ashe

Brunhilde

A tumbleweed, or what seems to be quite similar rolled with the wind across Brunhilde's path. Had this not been in the middle of Manhattan and over thousands of lifes just died, it might have just been humourous. Unfortunately, it just further emphasised the deadness of the megacity. One thing had remained though was the haziness of the sky. Whereas it used to be pollution, dust from the recent energy attack had been kicked up.

"Hello, my sister."

I wonder...does the destruction of things bring about that much ....enjoyment? It is understandable with humans. We have lived long enough to see through the many wars that they have gone through.... The Persian War, the Crusades, Ghengis Khan's Invasion, 100 Year War, Napoleonic War, WW I, WW II, Vietnam...too many to list....but for anyone with such power to mindlessly slaughter, it is too much.

There was an air of silence and contemplation. Brunhilde was staring up into the sky, through the haze as she pondered on the question she more asked herself than her sister. Nothing came to her mind, bringing her thoughts back to her head.

Let us move, sister. I can imagine these Pure One's will not stay still. I feel disturbance in the air.

________________

Lindt

The girl Lindt was helping copped something to the legs, sending her sprawling. There was no time to think or wonder. They had to move. One thing did stick to her mind was what the man had told her as she ran.

"Stay away from its left side, belle!"

On instinct, Lindt stepped to the right of a car, and moments later debris showered dangerously on the left side. If that was not a sign, lindt did not know what was. A further three meters and Lindt found cover good enough to hunch down at. It was a big, heavy armoured van. She figured that with the armouring used to protect robbery, it should suffice to protect them from the tree woman. With as much grace and care as her tomboy nature could afford, Lindt laid down the injured girl against the van.

Okay, where does it hurt. I think i can help.

Or at least i think i can....

Lindt was curious. Either she was a freak of nature with super fast regeneration abilities, or she had magic. It was definitely not being a freak as she had broken and wounded herself a good deal of times which took massive amount of pain filled weeks to heal. She could only hope that this mysterious power could help. Otherwise, she'd look like a complete nutter to this girl.

The creature let out a gurgling screech of hatred, banging against the wall of the shield, her burning legs gone from under her as her strikes grew weaker, her bright green eyes dimming and dimming more. Yet just before they blackened, she let out a swipe at Katharina, a savage, clawed strike.

OOC: Kevin may god-mod the finishing blow.

Samuel

He was powerless. This creature... its walkway had come from him. And now... he was powerless. Totally powerless to do anything.

And yet, he felt sad to see it dying. No...devastated. This creature, like him, had been thrust into an unnatural world. She was just trying to defend herself.

Ellie-Human Nature at its Finest

I wonder...does the destruction of things bring about that much ....enjoyment? It is understandable with humans. We have lived long enough to see through the many wars that they have gone through.... The Persian War, the Crusades, Ghengis Khan's Invasion, 100 Year War, Napoleonic War, WW I, WW II, Vietnam...too many to list....but for anyone with such power to mindlessly slaughter, it is too much.

Ellie thought about her sister's question. The fact that war has become a staple of human nature, even today with Wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia, it seems that humanity could never escape its lust for glory and power, nor could they escape their pride.

Still, one might wonder though that the reasons that Valkyries are there is to seek out warriors to become Einherjar, but she wanted to help humanity more, even if it was at one person at a time...

Let us move, sister. I can imagine these Pure One's will not stay still. I feel disturbance in the air.

Ellie finally said after being snapped out of her thoughts, "Let's go." Ellie then flew up into the air.

Katharina-Pride and Arrogance

After being carried by a young female with a rifle, she was now behind an armored van.

Okay, where does it hurt. I think i can help.

"Just my arm, I should be fine after that."

She then got to thinking, when she heard her consience think for her...

"My brother would be ashamed of me right now, he must think I'm so weak....and foolish...I need to hit this creature hard and fast where it hurts, I need to look for a weak spot....possibly a heart"

Kat looked to the side, towards the creature, she wanted find a weak spot, a heart of some sort.

"The roots, maybe if I can eliminate the roots, it won't have the nutrients to repair and revitalize itself."

Getting herself up, she said to the young girl. "On second thought, I'll manage." She got to the back of the van, shot the lock off with her gun, and opened the door to find an shotgun, as well as the empty bullet shell. Covering the bullet shell, she used her power to turn it into a painkiller (shaped like a bullet shell as well). Katharina immediately put the painkiller in her mouth and while it was taking effect, grabbed the shotgun, and headed out to confront the plant being.

As she came out, the creature launched a savage clawed strike at her, Kat sidestepped, and fired the shotgun at it's legs, damaging the roots. This was followed by smashing the butt of the gun on her face and firing at it's chest. This hopefully brought the creature down, finally dead.

Kat finally sat down, exhausted by this experience. "It feels like living out a modern-day Lord of the Rings." She finally said.

Samuel gasped as the summoning circle on the ground disappeared, gone to nothing, no trace of the imprint on the ground other than scorched tarmac and the distinctive scorch of charred tar to mark its presence.

The remains of the woman of plants was lying, discreet, lifeless, before Katherina, no light or sign that life had ever inhabited these clumps of leaves and branches. A sickly sweet aroma hung in the air, like sugar mixed with burnt flesh.

Samuel clutched his chest, wiping the blood from his mouth with a single hand, and shocked to find hot tears brimming in his eyes. Hurriedly, he turned and wiped them away, hoping for his sake that there was no sign of the tears so close to coming.

"Let's go." He spoke softly, struggling to keep his voice under control and hoping he would succeed. That bond he had felt with the dead woman; that empathy. It had almost floored him when she died, and he didn't know why.

And did he really want to know? Besides, even now there was light visible at the end of the tunnel. Only a tiny pinprick, but light nontheless, and he made that his goal. He couldn't afford to falter at this crucial stage, so close to the exit.

Anastasia smiled in a false imitation of warmth at the girl she was no w sure was a goddess. The little bitch sure talked big for someone who was supposed to be human, and that and her indisguised aura had given her away.

"I just hope you can keep up, little girl," replied Anastasia, without breaking her stride or even glancing at the girl.
