SOPA is a classic case of political marketing and advertising campaigns promising one thing with the fine print saying something completely different.
The government says its about "PIRACY".
"PIRACY" means giving people who upload backstreet boys mp3s on the internet longer & harsher prison sentences than rapists and some murderers.
"PIRACY" is a fear campaign whereby the government abuses its power as paid hitmen who oppress, harass and bully its citizens in the name of RIAA, MPAA and other assorted big, corporate greed institutions, profits.
"PIRACY" means we turn a blind eye to china and other countries burning & pirating american CD's and DVD's en masse and distributing them throughout the entire world and focus solely on small time offenders who studies show actually boost record and dvd sales.
Due to these reasons and others, we may see that "PIRACY" is a complete and total joke.
"PIRACY" is an excuse for corporations and the wealthy to take over the internet and implement new and unfair ways to boost profits.
"PIRACY" implies the internet may become the next advertising and legal battleground for large corporations and a means of allowing big businesses to oppress small ones.

Like Ryan said earlier, you can just stop Wikipedia from loading or disable javascript and the page still loads. I was using it most of today with no problems.

They're protesting to the idiots in Congress that are still for it. Though after today, they've lost quite a bit of support, aside from the MPAA and RIAA who are only in it for the money they lose when people pirate movies and music.
It's only for 24 hours, and most sites are back up

Its not just about privacy either. Its also to go together with the N.D.A.A. like a glove. If anyone with the 'authority' doesn't like you for whatever reason, the ways they can legally get you put away is rising and becoming much more easier. They'll be able to get you for ANYTHING. LEGALLY. The S.O.P.A. and P.I.P.A. bills are vague for a reason
