Square Enix invites fans out to the Toho Cinemas in Roppongi Hills one week later than expected.

The Fabula Nova Crystallis Conference is no more. Square Enix has changed the event's name to "Square Enix 1st Production Department Premier."

Going along with the name change, Square Enix opened an information page for the event with some preliminary details.

The 1st Production Department Premier event will be held on January 18 at the Toho Cinemas theater in Roppongi Hills (not the originally announced 1/11). This is one of Square Enix's favorite premier spots. Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy VII Advent Children were both shown here first.

The event, as the name change would suggest, will see new information on games from Square Enix's entire 1st Production Department. The event page does not have a final list of titles, but producer Tetsuya Nomura said in past interviews to expect updates on the Fabula Nova Crystallis games like Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Agito XIII along with new details on Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy.

The event will be held twice through the day. The first showing will run from 18:00 to 19:30. The second showing will run from 20:00 to 21:30.

The reason for the two showings is that fans are being invited to attend. Details on how to get your name down for admission will be announced through the Square Enix Members site shortly.

Thats kinda sexy, but a turn off they rescheduled it to a week later :lew:
Anyways I hope to post the news from Versus on the 18th January as first !...

They can call it whatever they like, if the games are crap, people aren't going to give a damn how impressive-sounding the name is. xD

I'd say this random, completely superficial name change means one of two things - they're not giving any info on the FFXIII series, or they're going to give info on that and something else as well. I wouldn't like to say which, given all the delays with information with Versus and Agito.

My best guess would be that they are using the name change to create hype for all of their newest projects...and then use the last 60 seconds to show brief clips of Versus and Agito like they did at TGS. :rage:

That's a bit of an awful name change, although it makes sense as it's not just a Fabula Nova Crystallis conference thing. :wacky:

And this conference will be important if SE wants to revive my enthusiasm in anticipating for Versus. I take Nomura's team over Kitase's and formerly Tabata's any day, but even then I tend to find Nomura rather overrated at times. No pressure SE, but you really do need Versus to be a hit at this point.

If they announce another hand-held installment I'll burn their office down. It's OUTDATED.

Yes, because handhelds are obviously sooo outdated aren't they? I look at the upcoming 3DS handheld which at this point is intriguing even me and I lament at how outdated that is. Yes, why do they bother making games for handhelds? They're such archaic anachronisms.

And on a less sarcastic note, you can just ignore any announced handheld game altogether. ^^

What a lame name change.... This conference better announce ALOT of info. Versus XIII is still on my list along with Agito but he if they dont redeem themselves in this conference then that sucks... Seriously this game is in even longer development than Gran Turismo 5 which just came out. A release date would be nice but of course that might just be a Japanese release date -__-. Maybe go more into what the story is about? Do something big at the conference SE! :hmph: As for other games at the event.... They better not leave Versus and Agito for the last minute. It was originally a conference for both games....

I'm probably the only one that actually likes the name change. I hated the whole "Fabula Nova Crystallis" thing. It annoyed me from the beginning. It sounds much too self righteous and self important for its own good.

^ Like 'The Twilight Saga'?

They seriously need to lay off the Latin. The use of a dead language in your IPs in any shape or form does -not- make it cool. It shows that you think we`re idiots who would pick up anything if the name is "flashy" enough. What are they going to do with XV's line of games? Call it 'Cockamamulus Amplitudos Fuckulus'?

And I said line of games, because obviously they don't release a Final Fantasy game without its entourage of spin offs and interactive porn... well maybe the fans are responsible for the latter :hmmm:

Anyways, name change for conference, yay, more games, whatever. Give us a reasonable release date already.

Well I am looking forward to versus xiii the most but another thing I want SE to do is announce a big-title FF (no remake or sequel completely new FF) for a major console not for a crap handheld console or PC...........I'm actually kinda hoping for a new addition to the Fabula Nova Crystallis either that or a possible FFXV (or is that too unlikely?).

And also name change: "Square Enix 1st Production Department Premier." prefer fabula nova crystallis, but I expect it to be followed by a Square Enix 2nd Production Department Premier.

this name change sounds to me like this first production team has a mind of their own. we shall see. at this point release dates or not, SE has proved more quirky when it comes to releasing game and giving info unlike Namco so this is acceptable for me. as for the platform, i agree with the previous post, we need PS3 FF titles. i am tired of seeing FFXIV the MMO idea was garbage.
