Final Fantasy XIII is almost out the door in the West, Final Fantasy XIV in lined up for sometime later this year, and Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Agito XIII are to come some time after. You’d think Square Enix would relax with the Final Fantasy until everything announced is in consumers hands.

You’d be wrong.

“We’ve got a few ideas for Final Fantasy XV lined up,” Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase told Xbox 360 World Magazine, “but there is no singular aim for where we want the series to go. Final Fantasy can go in all directions, each one is very different from the last. The one thing we set out to do is to make sure we tell a story that hasn’t been told before.”

Could we expect it this gen? Final Fantasy XIII took five years but now the team has knowledge of the hardware.

Thanks to Olivia for finding this!

Yeah.....about that....

(5 Years From Now....)

I can finally see what to expect with Final Fantasy XV! Yay!!!!!

(back to reality....)

But seriously, good luck.....

WOW! I was shocked when they announced FFXIV but if they announce this, this year... WOW!

SE is kicking up its pace!

This is exciting

Wow they already have ideas for Final Fantasy XV? Wow thats incredible. They better finish off agito and versus XIII first though. They will make it great for sure. I wonder what it will be like!

With FFXIII's development more or less over - the team may go on to work on Versus or go straight onto FFXV. I'm not entirely sure how SE's teams work when it comes to the transitions of games. Whether or not FFXIII's team will work on FFXV remains to be seen.

For FFXV itself - I can see announcements for it coming sometime late next year at the earliest. So far the other Fabula Nova Crystallis projects and FFXIV have a priority by the end of this year and the beginning of 2011.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they have in store for FFXV. As long as it's not too radically changed to suit a western market, I would be fine with it.

Seriously, I love SE. I hate it when a series ends; there's nothing more to do after that than boring stuff~ Because of that, I can always depend on SE to give me something to play on.

Kudos to Kitase for moving fast, but think about substance (> style)

And to Olivia for the info :tighthug:

Hopefully they will make FFXV better than they did FFXIII, and try to take it back to it's roots. I've been disappointed in the FF series since FFX. :sad3:

I'm not all that surprised. Big companies like this will be looking to the future and setting down plans for future games all the time. I wouldn't be surprised if they were thinking about FF13 back when FF10 was new.

I like the fact that they seem to be working NONSTOP on their games, which is really awesome, but think about the stress some of those employees are going through. They should have a sign in their office that says "Currently developing 8 games and counting."

Square Enix Boss Dude: Ok, your 1 hour turn is up working on Final Fantasy XIII Agito, time to switch over to Final Fantasy XV concept art design.

Me: Ugh... I was just getting into the FFXIII Agito work though... I was on a roll. =.=

Square Enix Boss Dude: We have to get Final Fantasy XV released before all of our current players die of old age.

(Later, in the year 2015)

Final Fantasy XV has just been released! For the new consoles PS4 and Xbox 720!

Random kid watching the trailer: UGHH... Now I have to go out and buy a Violet-Ray powered PS4 and also get a TV that is 1440p HDMI compatible. (sigh) That's going to be like $1199 in total =.= Time to go beg my mom.

I hope XV will be creative and different, otherwise, all the Final Fantasies will be similar. I really hope they don't run out of ideas. Because, Final Fantasy has been a smash hit all around the world, and I heard it was apparently a last resort idea for Square Soft/Enix.

FFXV will have been in the minds of developers for a while now :ryan: They probably started planning it just as the Japanese version of FFXIII was being released. Most companies do that nowadays, as soon as one game is released they begin another. I think it's safe to say that with FFXV in the planning, FFVII isn't coming anytime soon :ryan:

Lmao xD Haha mostly likely not huh? :wacky: I much rather SE start on another FF game anyways then to start on VII remake xD

Back on topic, it's good to hear that SE has been working really hard when it comes to games. I mean, XIII was a little slow at first but now that the team has gotten down the hardware etc stuff then it should be easier for them to start developing games more quickly. And, from this topic I am right :griin:

I can't wait to see what XV will be like! It shall be interesting it shall :monster:
Thanks Olivia ! :]

This announcement doesn't really surprise me at all. If they plan on continuing the series, naturally they have to plan ahead. Once gamers are finished with all the XIII games, they'll be ready for a new one so better to be prepared. :monster:

I'd like for FFXV to go back to a medieval theme. I don't have a problem with more futuristic designs but every now and then, I enjoy a good throwback game. :ryan:

XV is the 15th Final Fatasy so they should make it really special or umm that would go to Final Fantasy XX(so far awayyyyyyyyyyy xDDD) Ya so I want hot chicks and great gameplay ike usual :mokken:

FFXV concepts being thought of presently don't surprise me, but I really wonder what kind of story they can come up with. I've enjoyed the modern stories of FFVII, FFVIII and FFX, but I also enjoyed the more fairytale like settings with the SNES games, Tactics and FFIX :hmmm:

Well we know one thing about FFXV. If what they said earlier is true, I don't see them putting this on the PSP or DS - it will be on a home console, most likely an HD one. So it is a good idea for them to start on the next project ASAP because of the vast amount of time required to get even the opening cutscene done.

A more fantasy-like medieval setting would be good. FFXIII has more or less touched the sci-fi aspect with Cocoon, and I'd like to see a return of kingdoms, knights and perhaps even steampunk settings.

I'm intrigued as to whether or not it will be a PS3 exclusive this time, or if the Xbox 360 will get it as well. I guess it depends how FFXIII does and whether or not FFXIV Online makes it to Microsoft's console at all.

I'm hoping they'll bring back a way for us to gain full control of the whole party again whilst making battles more flashy which they seem to be going for more and more the series progresses. I wouldn't mind ATB returning yet the player still remains on field screen.

Irregardless, I'm looking forward to seeing what new characters and plot they'll come up with, and how innovative it's gonna be.

I'd like the battle system to return like it was in VIII, IX, or maybe even II. Like Vivi before me, I'd like for them to use a medieval theme for XV. But since it'll be the 15th Final Fantasy of the series, I'd say let it be something special. Something unique. It'd be funny at least if they go for something like a prehistoric era. :D

I wouldn't mind if they did the same Capcom did with SF4 tbh. Going back to basics like FF9 and creating a more fantasy type world (medieval) and cartoonish character design.

Maybe that mixed with a more mature story line like the one found in FF Tactics. Those kinds of stories are much more gripping IMO, and I like the darker side of the world of Ivalice such as the side seen in Vagrant Story.

A mash up of those ideas would be my ideal FF15. :griin:

I'd love to see XV set in more of a.. FFIX kind of world, kinda 'medievil' olden days sort of thing. With a little less realism as far as characters go, BRING BACK THE QUINA'S AND VIVI'S OF THE WORLD!!!
