If you buy one Buy Disgaea 2 its way better than 1 on the PSP,I have a guide and review on the forums -points to the Game Review's part ofthe Forum-

Read my Review and decide if you want it

I think you should buy God Eater Burst, YGGdra Union, Valkyrie Profile, Persona 3, or FFIV.

:hmmm:

The Tactics game is good for the PSP because it is translated correctly. But if you have beaten in on the PS1 then I wouldn't bother.

- Valhalla Knights: It's a grinding RPG with a Diablo-like play style. I believe there are 2 of them.

- Any of the remade Star Ocean games. Definitely the 1st one since it was never released in Japan.

Avoid this GAME!: Astonishia Story. This game is horrible, avoid it at all cost!

I would recommend either one of the PSP Disgaea games, but I would lean for the first one rather than the second because out of my personal preference, the characters and storyline are funnier than in the second. It doesn't matter which though when it comes to gameplay because you can literally throw away countless hours with all the gameplay content they squeeze into those UMD discs. Disgaea is a lot more tongue in cheek and satirical in story and you'll see that it's not like the typical melodramatic storylines you get in other JRPGs.

But if you do want a melodramatic JRPG for the PSP, there's Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. Unlike what I suspect Dissidia 012 to have, Lenneth actually has an engrossing storyline that you can really get into even if you're not entirely versed in Norse mythology to get the references. I loved the storyline in both Valkyrie Profile games and I think the story in Lenneth is handled really well though it may become confusing from time to time. Gameplay wise, I love the 2D dungeons. It does play better than it sounds, though if there is one major criticism I have of the game, it's the fact that you technically have a time limit determined by periods. You'll have to learn to use those periods well or else Freya comes to kick your ass. As far as I recall, there are difficulty settings, so it doesn't feel too challenging if you're new to Tri-Ace games. Cutscenes-wise, it's very heavy with them. The beginning part of the game is long enough to go off and have dinner while it's being played, but I'm sure you're used to them. xD

Zettai Hero Project: Absolute Victory Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman. This is arguably (I say arguably, because Hyperdimension Neptunia is amazing) NIS' most hilarious game. If, like me, you grew up on the likes of Power Rangers and Sailor Moon, this game is ESSENTIAL - the script is absolutely fantasic. Not to mention it provides a little bit more challenge and depth than the Disgaea games do...but only a little. The style of gameplay is totally different, but its no less of a grindfest, and there is a lot more in the way of customization and game gimmicks to explore...it also retains the insane stats as well...I've seen people online with 40,000,000 in certain stats. In fact, have a trailer. The game throws you right in and just keeps on piling things on you from there. The storyline is filled with horrendously old cliche plot devices, but its the way in which they're delivered that makes it such an amazing storyline. I recommend this game to everyone with a) a PSP and b) a sense of humour. This game WILL make you laugh and, if you're familiar with Disgaea, there are the obvious cameos in there. The voice acting is typically over-the-top and of a good standard, as well. I cannot stress how much you NEED to experience this, its the pinnacle of NIS games (this I say for sure because, unlike Neptunia, it doesn't have a terrible flaw in its battle system) and...well, just look at the title. xD

Star Ocean: First Depature and Star Ocean: Second Evolution are both fantastic games, I'd recommend buying those. The connection between the two isn't so vital that you'd NEED to play the first before the second, but I'd say the first has far more likeable characters, even if the second lets you play as either the male or the female, and so arguably has double the replay value.

If you want a game that gives you reason to play it more than once, I'd go with Hexyz Force instead: the two storylines in that are entirely separate from one another (although they cross over at points) and its a very pretty, very involving game, with a nice classic turn-based battle system and an interesting judgement system.

Tales of Eternia is definetely worth a look-in, although its quite linear when compared to the likes of Symphonia and Vesperia. Its still highly engrossing though, with a pretty solid cast and an excellent battle system.

I'm going to side with Liv Liv in that I'd also recommend Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness over Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days. The original is easily superior: the story and characters are epic. The cast of Dark Hero Days is very flat in comparison and, whilst the story is arguably better constructed (as in, its actually there), the script is nowhere near as entertaining. The trio of Laharl, Etna and Flonne is reason enough to buy that game and, whilst Etna DOES appear in Disgaea 2, Laharl > Axel. It'll occupy you for just as long, and it'll make you laugh a hell of a lot more.

If you want something more serious, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together is your best bet. Although if you didn't like FFXII (shame on you!) then you might be better off avoiding this: its made by the same people, and aspects of it (convoluted, intense dialogue, highly developed characters, etc) just SCREAM FFXII. The storyline is amazing though, and the tarot system gives you reason to play it more than once.

There are more. But my main recommendation would be the first game I mentioned. I mean, just look at that title. Could it be any more epic? =D

Persona 3 Portable - Don't believe Martel's hate (and lies) towards this game. :ahmed: In all seriousness, it's amazing. If you've ever played the PS2 version, you know what you're getting into. It's got some nifty extras packed into it, and it's rather great. Plus, with the addition of the Female story line, it gives it even more replay value than it already had. Trust me, this will slaughter your free time.

Brave Story: New Traveler - Old school styled RPG with somewhat pretty graphics. Gameplay is solid, and the story is pretty much what you would expect from a game trying to emulate old school RPG's. The cast of characters is pretty large as well. However, there isn't much replay value.

Adventures to Go - This game is a fucking GEM. The dialogue is fucking buttraging hilarious. Dungeons are randomly generated, and gameplay is otherwise solid. For $10 at the moment, it's worth the buy.

Ys seven - WHY ARE YOU NOT PLAYING THIS FUCKING GAME? WHY IS ANYONE NOT PLAYING THIS FUCKING GAME?! THE MUSIC IS HOLY SHIT THE MUSIC IS FUCKING AMAZING, THE CHARACTERS ARE GREAT, THE STORY IS GREAT, THE SETTING IS GREAT, THE GAMEPLAY IS GREAT. YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THIS FUCKING GAME. Also, dat ending.

Ys: Oath in Felghana - See above

Lunar: Silver Star Harmony - It's like the PSX version WITHOUT THE RAGE. It's definitely easier. Get prepared for a pretty good story, some great characters, and M. Night Shamalamalalsfhsdighsdivghidohg twists. Just try not to grind too much, as BOSSES LEVEL UP WITH YOU.

Not really RPGs but you should get your ass out and buy them already - Gods Eater: Burst and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite

Monster Hunter is JIZZ IN YOUR PANTS AWESOME. Just expect to die... often.

Martel, why u no like Persona? :sad2:

No seriously, PM me with that. :sad3:

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite - This is one of the most playable game out there. It's an Action-Adventure game from Capcom that let's you play countless of hours. You can also play with up to 4 players online with Adhoc Party. It's a great game, I garantee you won't be disappointed. You should try it out.

after thinking for a bit i got persona 3 a few days ago and i'm loving it XD great storyline soo far and i like the way you can pick which days you wanna fight which is cool XD i'm thinking about getting the ps2 version at some point :D
