I'm sure most of us have said something to the wrong person when chatting via messengers. Does this happen a lot to you guys or not? I've had this happen several times before, where I've either said something to the wrong person without realizing it after a few seconds later, or one of my friends accidentally sent me a message not meant for me. Thankfully, they haven't sent any cyber actions yet...

But anyway, it happened again tonight so I thought I'd make a thread about it. =] To my knowledge, I haven't sent any embarrassing messages accidentally to people, and I don't plan on it. xD This happens rarely to me anyway.

It has happened to me, after i beat Bioshock, i immediately told my friend on aim, i went on for about 8 messages, until they told me it was the wrong person, and actually my friend who was at a church meeting, until i sent her a message, and her phone went off, and i never spoke to her again, then she called me weird for going on about a game like that, shes never played the game, she wouldn't know

Rarely do it on Msn i have done it on facebook chat a few times though because the Names at the bottom are so close to each other and i don't x them off when i start a conversation

Can remember sending a Msn sound that was suppose to be for my friend to someone else by accident at 3/4 in the morning one night they weren't happy to say the least think i was blocked :lew:

Oh dear. Yeah I've done it a few times. the most prevalent in my mind being when I was telling a friend about how I had a crush on a guy (who is now my boyfriend) AS I was talking to him...I remember typing and I REALLY Like him but... into his window. I realized it JUST as I was writing "but he lives in South Carolina and I'm in Virginia" in his window. Thankfully I didn't add that last bit and quickly put in a Oops, Wrong Convo! and then told the friend it was meant for what happened. Apparently I needn't have worried, since 3 nights later, he told me he liked me >.>

I've done it a couple of times, yeah. A few years ago, I got extremely angry at someone, and said a few scathing things to the wrong person...I then got called away from my computer for a few minutes, leaving it without explaining it. My friend had already gone offline by that point, and I was extremely worried I'd been blocked for randomly attacking her out of nowhere. Things worked out, though. Now, unless I'm in a hurry or have more than three convos going, I don't find myself saying the wrong thing to people so much.

I think I accidentally did this a few times when I was younger back when I used MSN a lot more than I do now. I'm sure I've received a few messages on my phone and on MSN which weren't intended for me, but that is quite rare.

There have been a few times when someones phone has accidentally called me without them noticing and I've been able to hear conversations and shit. There was one particular instance when my mate's phone called me while he was on a date with his girlfriend, I found that conversation quite entertaining if I do say so myself :wacky:

I don't do it often, but I have doneonce or twice, luckily it's never been anything that can result in a red face though, just summat random, last thing I remember was waffling about the RPG to Dave thinking I was talking to Bowly, but that was aaaaages ago. Watch me do it tonight now, and embarrasss myself with summat -__-

ive been on the recievingend of it afew times, and ive justbeen like...wot? xD

I haven't done on a messenger in ages. But I have done it on pm systems in online games. I also get PMs meant for other people as well.

I might have done it once or twice many years ago when my msn was more active, as I seem to remember feeling slightly embarassed about it.

I don't think my msn is really active enough for mistakes to happen anymore as a lot of the time no windows are up, and on good days 1, 2 or maybe 3 are up. I still have a very awkward habit I need to break out of where most of the time I avoid talking first on msn, this isn't because I don't want to talk to people, but it's just that in the past I have done this and no conversation ever came from it or they told me they were busy, or I'd say hey and ask how they were and then the conversation would die until an hour later when I tell them I have to go (those conversations were sad and left me embarassed for even attempting).

Therefore it is mostly people contacting me, and then a conversation of sorts happening around that so I don't tend to get mixed up with which window is which as there are rarely more than 2 windows open.

I've never done it on MSN, but I have done it over the phone.

I was meant to message my parents to tell them that I was staying at my friend Sarahs (this was like two years ago now) for the night.

But I was thinking of Sarah and when I went to put in the person I was sending the message to I put 'Sarah', as I had her name stuck in my head. >.<

So yeah... I got in a lot of trouble because my parents thought I was staying out without telling them and they were worried etc. It can get you in trouble sometimes. >.<

Yea I've done a few times at work but nothing embarrassing really. There are two Larry's, two Mike's and two Michelle's. My naming conventions really screw me up - so from now on I just put L. (fill in last name here) for Larry. It's hard keeping up with such an annoying large list for work though.. I've sat there and even called the wrong Tim once or twice, because I wasn't familiar with their last name.

Well live and learn =).

It's happened, but only like once or twice. I do recall saying something in the SB that was meant for a PM, and I remember feeling pretty embarrassed about that. I think I only did it one time on MSN and it was only done once to me.

Not that it's even related, but I went to e-mail a co-worker the other day about some document I was looking for, and I sent it to an outside contractor. Luckily she was understanding and actually was able to get it for me (seeing as how my contact was in the same building as her anyways), but that was an epic fail.

This has happened to me a few times over MSN, but messages that would be embarrassing, just the fact of having sent an instant message to the wrong person. xP

I have also had a couple of times where someone accidently sent me an instant message meant for another person. Even though the messages aren't embarrassing or anything, it's still kind of funny. :P

It happens once in awhile, but not often which is good. I embarass myself enough as it is without thinking about it. Though when it does happen a laugh or two out of it is good, since i don't really laugh much anymore.

I sent this lengthy ass rant to my friend about why the Giants (football) suck...only to realize later that it wasn't him, and it was actually this girl I'd only just met this past semester in College named Laura. Awkward.

I recently had my phone changed, but the people at Verizon didn't transfer my contacts over, meaning I had to do them manually. I guess when putting his contact in my new phone, I incidentally typed in her number (their names are right next to each other), thus causing the confusion.

I dont recall doing it, but it has happened to me. Ive had so many random msgs sent via email, MSN, facebook, forums lol. But Im careful when chatting online, just in case this does happen. I cant handle talking to loads of people at once on MSN, gets way to confusing!

I've done this before quite a few times. I actually did this just the other day. I was playing Left 4 Dead and I was lost on a level. I was trying to say to my friend "I'm so lost!" Instead, I typed it in the chat window with my sister, who was telling me a story about one of her dreams. She was like "...?"

Luckily, I haven't said anything terribly embarrassing in the wrong chat window. xD

I'm pretty sure I've done this a few times, but only for little things, not big secrets or anything like that.

Most of the time I'm paranoid about it, so if I'm talking to someone about something that doesn't need to be said to anyone else, I make sure that I'm typing in the right box before sending the message.

On the phone, I think I remember one time my friend called me by mistake, and started ranting to me about... me. Needless to say, she was very embarassed and apologized afterwards.

I think it's happened to me a few times. One time I remembering saying "your a douchewad Alex" cus he wasn't replying and apperently he changed his number and i was texting then wrong person. like the person replied all angry and shitz saying "I'M NOT ALEX QUIT TEXTING ME!" I was like o.o why didn't you just tell me earlier??XDD.
Although, I don't recall saying anything too personal and whatnot to another person who it wasn't meant for which is good XD.
