Basically, what was the last game that you played that has been out for a long time, that you're only just now getting around to playing?

I recently ordered Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel for the GameBoy Color. This game came out in 2000 and I finally played it yesterday. Good game by they way. Another one was Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean. This one came out in 2003 and I bought it probably a month ago. I'd been wanting to play it for years based solely on the promotional picture. The picture gave the impression like "Oh, yeah. Shit goes DOWN in this game!!! :mokken: " and was like "Hell, yeeeeah! :awesome: ". Turns out that the game is way more light hearted than I had anticipated. But, it's still interesting.

Seeing as how I'm currently in the mode of buying older games for the PS2 right now, I've got a feeling that this list is going to continue to grow.
 
I'm all about last gen :rage:

Pokemon Silver, Pokemon Emerald, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy VIII, Rogue Galaxy, Persona 3, Persona 4 and Tales of the Abyss.

Just seems to me like shooters are the only games doing well this gen. I'm probably going to finish like 10 more PS2 games before I get back into this generation of gaming.
 
The games I always go back to are Tetris, Dr. Mario and Tecmo Super Bowl for the NES. Also, Super Street Fighter II and Secret of Mana for the SNES. I have my old PSP 1000 series hacked with Emulators and ROMs of these games. Whenever I'm bored or on a flight, I whip the PSP out and revisit Classicville. These games never get old.

Tetris is especially a game that will not die. Even today, I find myself getting stuck playing it for hours. It's so addicting. Of course, as soon as I'm done playing and I look at floor tiles all I see are Tetris pieces. Pretty amazing that a simple game like that still has so much pull.
 
Most recent game I've played was Super Mario RPG. I still haven't beaten it, and I've heard that you can fight Cecil on it, which I'm trying to figure out how to do.

Another game is Final Fight. This game came out on the SNES many years ago, and it is addicting. It's my first side-scrolling fighting type game
 
I revisited ActRaiser that I downloaded from the Virtual Console store ages ago - and subsequently turning on my Wii for the first time since...forever - and I've realised just how little I've played of it despite the fact that it's a pretty interesting little game. It's like someone has merged together Castlevania (with the side-scrolling monster-slaying dungeons with bosses running around) and the Civilisation games (building a civilisation in simulation mode). At the moment I really do have to get to grips with it again as I'm not exactly performing spectacularly here in the simulation mode where with the angel I have to stop the flying monsters coming in and stealing inhabitants and causing earthquakes and whatever else they seem to be doing.
 
Recently I just got Skies Of Archadia for the GC, have to say quite fun.
Another game is Radiata Stories. Very intresting, lots of characters to recruit...corse everythings easy till the end, and the last boss is impossible!

Out of all the games I rented as a child, I rented this one the most. Two of my favorite things crammed into one game. I don't remember fighting Cecil, but I remember fighting the four crystals. There are also hidden cameos from other SNES titles like F-Zero and Star Fox. Also cameos by Link and Samus.

Another classic game. I actually remember first playing this game in the arcade. I never liked the SNES port because you only had Cody and Haggar but not Guy like the arcade edition.

Actraiser was one of the best titles on the SNES. I love this game. Out of any game from the past, this is one I want to see remade more than any other. Side-scrolling action mixed with town building strategy. But the best part was the music. Dear god, that game has one of the best soundtracks. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.
 
Depends on what you consider old. Within the last year I've played and enjoyed.

Silent Hill 1
Xenosaga Ep. I + II
Dino Crisis 1
Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy VI

Anything beyond the SNES era I haven't played anything new recently. Still despitre what others say older games kicks just as much if not more ass than the newer games.
 
Actraiser is another classic I just tried after reading that post from Fleur. I remember wanting to play this game sooo bad after I lost it many many years ago. I also love the music from the first place when your in the Civilization type part of the game.

Dragonquest VIII is still fun after all these years. It's actually my first ever Dragon Quest game (I bought it because it said Square Enix, and looked like DBZ)

The character design for Dragon Quest(aka Dragon Warrior in the US) actually started with Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragonball. He designed the characters for the very first one. He also did the character design for Chrono Trigger.

The more you know.
 
the last one I played was Final Fantasy IX, I always wanted to play it... and thank's to it coming on PSN Last year I could XD

next for me is Final Fantasy IV and VI.. these games are meant to be amazing XD soo I might get FFVI on the Gameboy and get FFIV when it comes out on the PSP XD

It's Dragon Quest in America now lol.

But I just got Vangard Bandit, and I have to say, I am very impress I am really liking it so far.

And not to make people mad or anything, this is about old game you got RECENTLY and JUST PLAYED not games that you got a long time ago that you are playing again, that you have played 1000000 times.
 
vagrant Story. I brought it like....as soon as it came out, played it for a week, and hadn't touched it since.

I started playing it again yesterday.. brings back alot of memories :ryan:

I dunno how old this game is but it's awesome. You can use the oil gun and shoot the oil on some "areas" if u wish to, and rub them. U can have all sorts positions and the kamasutra crap :ryan:

It's just the perfect game for me :mokken:

It will always be Dragon Warrior, dammit! *kills self*

I got really bored 10 minutes ago and started playing Secret of Mana. Then I turned it off when I realized that I've played the opening WAY too many times. Still, a good game for the SNES library.
 
I play more old games than new games these days.

The latest ones i have played are:
Final Fantasy IX,
VIB Ribbon,
Bust a Groove,
Kingdom Hearts 1.

I am looking to play Suikoden II again but I can't find the blasted game anywhere :rage:
 
I forgot to mention Dark Cloud. I was mostly interested in this game because of the concept. Rebuilding a world that's been mostly destroyed. So far, I like it. I gotta say that the dungeon exploring aspect does get a little tiresome after a while. But overall it's a fun game. It's like Sim City fused with Megaman Legends.
 
I just got around to playing the first Half-Life, and I must say, I feel kind of bad that I missed out on this game. I played the second one and loved it, but going back and playing the first one and seeing what all happened with the Black Mesa Incident is pretty awesome. I would definitely recommend that everyone play it, and to not let the aged graphics get you down.

It's definitely worth a play.

Dark Cloud was awesome. It reminded me almost of Actraiser for the SNES. It combined the elements of action and city-building. Come to think of it, besides from Dark Cloud and Actraiser, I never really saw another game like it. Dark Cloud was have been really good, except the battle system was kinda lame. I think there was a sequel called Dark Chronicle(or Dark Cloud 2, I don't remember) or something like that. Never played it though.
 
Dark Cloud 2 is much much better than the first one!!! I didn't think it'd be, but it really is. They upgraded a lot in the second one.

Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time

Just got it again for the Wii, had a little trouble with the classic controller, but got used to it. I just beat the Water Temple as a kid, about to go grow up!!
