Ok so we all have those movies that we loved as little kids and if we watch them today they kind of bring back that feeling of being a child again.

What movies do you feel were a large part of your childhood?


Mine:

1. Land Before Time: (First one only!) I loved this movie and I would sometimes watch it several times in one day. I also used to cry during certain parts of it.

2. Lion King. My friends and I had a crazy obsession with this movie! I still love this movie today.

3. Little Mermaid. Another movie I was notorious for watching over and over again! My older sister knows all the songs by heart because I always had it playing at the house. XD

4. ET. The movie scared me at first, but then I began to like it. I used to try to get my bike to fly :(

5. Back to the Future Trilogy. I was a little older when I started watching these (about 10) But these movies make me very nostalgic!
 
1. The Labyrinth- I used to ask my older sister to wish me away.

2. The Lion King- I made my mom take me to the drive in 6 times to see this as a kid.

3. Milo and Otis- I watch this when I babysit with kids. It's animal cruelty!

4. Sixteen Candles- Not very appropriate but as a child I was NEVER censored from anything and I'm still not.

5. Nightmare on Elm Street- I still remember being six and trying to steal my mom's coffee while she wasn't looking. o_O
 
I had quite a few, I grew up with the Disney Channel when they still had a lot more variety, and some of my favorites were actually movies they used to show that I don't think were even made by Disney:

-The Dragon That Wasn't, Or Was He?
This movie actually came from the Netherlands I think, and it was awesome :awesome: It's about a rich bear with a mansion who finds a dragon egg on his property one day, and the baby dragon hatches from it and bonds with him, but when the dragon gets angry or upset he grows to an enormous size and acts destructively, often in defense of his bear "father." This especially causes problems because the bear is a famous socialite and interacts with a lot of people from day to day, and they blame him for the dragon's actions. It's a great story, the ending is kind of bittersweet but I've always really liked it. And I've always liked the theme song too :)

-Ferngully: The Last Rainforest
I credit this movie as one of the main reasons I became really interested in protecting the environment, and I think every child should watch this movie. It puts an amazing, very emotional spin on the nature vs. bulldozer saga, and teaches that every life is valuable, even that of the tiniest insects or plant seeds, which is something I believe too. There's lots of beautiful forest imagery as well, nice music, and there's a bat voiced by Robin Williams who adds a lot of humor to the story too. I actually saw this movie in the theater when it came out; I can't remember if they ever played it on the Disney channel or not, but it should definitely be more popular than it is, it's awesome :awesome:

-The Mouse and his Child
This one's actually based on a book by Russell Hoban. I recently watched it again after having not watched it for many years and I was blown away by how thought-provoking it is for a children's story--I don't think I even understood it completely as a kid. It's a story about a wind-up toy--a pair of mice, father and son, who are joined at the hands, and can only walk in circles; however, they're capable of intelligent thought, so this idea depresses them--they want a better life than that. After making a few friends in the toy shop they're in, they unexpectedly fall off a shelf, get broken, and are thrown in the garbage, which allows them to "escape" from the toy shop and set off on an adventure out into the real world. They decide that they want not only for their hands to be separated, so that they can walk freely, but that they also want to become "self-winding"--for someone to make them able to function without the use of a turnkey, which they've heard is possible but have never seen happen. Anyway, there's a huge theme in this story of destiny vs. self-will, and it's really interesting--one of my favorite quotes is "You do what you're wound to do, not what you want to do," when they first wake up and ask another toy what their purpose is. And there's a lot of really high-level vocabulary that I know I didn't understand as a kid.

I also really liked these--they're two of my favorite Disney movies :) I still think these two, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin are the ultimate classic Disney movies despite how many they've released since then. I dunno, maybe I'm biased because I grew up with them, but they all had really enjoyable stories that taught a lot of valuable lessons at the same time. And had excellent musical scores :D And Lion King--the story is just epic, I'm still really impressed with the exile-and-dramatic-return theme and I think it would make a great human movie as well if they ever wanted to adapt it. :)

 
1. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie - this was the first film I ever saw at the cinema. It was so exciting! Back in the day, it was my idea of heaven...even when I watch it now, I still find it to be quite a funny film, albeit not quite so exciting. XD

2. Watership Down - I still adore this film. I used to cry every time "Bright Eyes" started playing, and at the end. Epic journey of rabbits is still epic~

3. The Land Before Time - Just the first two. I've actually seen up to the tenth, but it was the first two that made my childhood. I didn't like the third, and didn't see the others until much later. Dinosaurs. I was one of those kids who absolutely loved dinosaurs when I was younger.

4. Pokemon: The First movie - Jumping forward in time a bit here, but since I was technically still in my childhood when this came out and I went to see it, it gets an honourable mention. Because it was just that awesome. It was back in the day when Pokemon was still fresh, exciting and insanely popular, nobody knew a thing about Mew other than that it existed, everyone thought Mewtwo was the most powerful Pokemon EVER, and there it was. In a movie. A POKEMON movie. I don't think I can put words to the level of excitement I felt when I went to see this for the first time.

I watched the majority of the old Disney films, but I wouldn't say they made my childhood - they were (and still are, when compared to this "new generation" crap we see now) very good films, but not my favourites.
 
The Last Unicorn - I adore this film, need to track it down on DVD. Beautiful animation and such a sad, sad story. Made me love unicorns even more.

Ghostbusters - I still love this film to this day, loved the cartoons and had the figures with also. Ray and Peter are still my favs :)

Land Before Time - OMFG, I wont watch this again, it moves me beyond tears. Its such a sad story, but its funny and the characters are great. Speciall Ducky and Sarah XD Dinosaurs for teh win!

Jaws - Yes, it got me into loving and being terrified of great whites. I still watch it now and my little bro adores the series also. I cant remember first watching it Ive seen it that many times!
 
Jurassic Park: This movie scared me so much when I was a kid! But no matter how much I was scared I always went back to it. XD I remember having nightmares nearly every night about dinosaurs trying to eat me and even then I still continued to watch it. XD

Mulan!: =0 This was my most favourite movie as a child! I would watch it at least twice a day every day for quite a while.

I loved it so much and I really wanted to be Mulan and do what she did in the movie and have a pet cricket and dragon and everything. XD

That's all I can think of for the moment.
 
my movies were

1. Jurassic park i were like seven or eight when i saw it, i was like oh shit! oo. saw it again for just a few days ago it rocked!
2. Lion king
3. Starwars

Oh wow. Lets see...

The Land Before Time: I also enjoyed this movie when I was young. I started off with the second movie but the first was still quite enjoyable as well. One of the first movies I've ever seen. Interestingly enough I just looked up the series and there is a total of 13 movies out right now for this movie series O_O.

Batman Returns: Despite the fact that the Penguin scared me, I thought it was a good movie. My brother was actually the who introduced me to it.

Pokemon the First Movie: Back then I was a major Pokemon fan, so I had to watch this movie. Unfortunately my friend spoiled the ending for me. >_>

Finally, a good handful of Disney movies: I would single one out but I watched a good amount of them that are good so I will just generalize them. Now this was where my childhood started at where it came to movies. The Fox and the Hound and The Lion King are among my favorites overall though, however like I said I enjoyed a lot of them that they definitely deserve a mention.

wow what kind of brain do you have??? mine????

1.Star wars triology: I always asked my uncle questions about the series,I always collected action figures that are not seen in stores today,thats the part in my life that I miss.

2.Toy story and 2: I was obsessed with the series at first and i was so crazy of getting action figures of the toys in the film.

3. Jurassic park triology: I was so scared at first,but even if it was scared it was cool at the same time,I collected the games of it on sega genesis.
 
I'd say pretty much any Disney film up to the mid-90s. Aladdin, The Jungle Book, The Lion King and so on and so forth. Those three were probably my most watched films back on the good ol' VHS.
I can't think of many more films past Disney that I used to watch in my early years.
 
Labyrinth - Who could ever forget David Bowie and him getting away with wearing those tights in the film? Loved everything about this film, including the plot and the fabulous music. I'd still watch it now.

The vast majority of Disney films also count because me and my sister were raised watching them. Ones that stood out in particular for me were The Lion King, Tarzan and Mulan for, again, the music mainly.
 
1. Every Disney movie- Without them I wouldn't have gotten into anime

2. An American Tail - This movie showed methat life isn't always sunshine and rainbows but rain as well. It also showed putting up with crap in life is well worth it

3. Thumblina (Don Bluth) - Guilty Pleasure because I love fairy tales

4. The Wizard of Oz - It made me love musicals moreso than Disney

5. Gentle Men Prefer Blondes - Made me a Marilyn Monroe fan
