Limericks of Lute.png

Yes this is a terrible header but I forgot about a header and forgot to
ask for someone to make one, so here is one I created in five minutes.

The game is simple. Guess the character/location/item/concept/etc alluded to in the limerick poems I will be posting here.

If you are unsure what a limerick is, see this Wikipedia definition:

A limerick... is a form of verse, usually humorous and frequently rude, in five-line, predominantly anapestic meter with a strict rhyme scheme of AABBA, in which the first, second and fifth line rhyme, while the third and fourth lines are shorter and share a different rhyme.
These might not always be consistently funny or rude, but you get the idea.

An example limerick is:
There lives an Adam in Dublin
Who Liv thinks looks like a goblin.
One day he said:
“The Empire state of your head!”
But his broken TV said nuthin’

To make it more challenging I shall be posting the limericks one line at a time. The sooner you guess the answer, the more points you will score.
  • Guessing correctly with one line revealed nets you five points.
  • Guessing correctly with two lines would net you four points.
  • Guessing correctly with three lines would net you three points.
  • Guessing correctly with four lines would net you two points.
  • The complete poem would net you one point if you solve it.

  • If nobody solves it then there will be no points allocated.
  • I will be offering bonuses too. One each limerick has been solved I will link to a thread. Bonus points will be awarded upon completing a round if a person follows the link to post in the thread.

If you wish to facilitate the flow of the game, feel free to post 'pass' if you would request another line. If enough people do it then I will post the second line. Otherwise, I'll post the next line after a short amount of time has passed.

You are only allowed one guess for per round/limerick. So if you guess wrong with the first line, you are not allowed to guess again once more lines are revealed.

Nobody passed but time did, so here is line two for Limerick One.
The maximum score is now four points.

I'll volunteer to be potentially knocked out 😎

Is it Faris Scherwiz From FFV? ‘He’ has a pet/friend Syldra, both of whom I assume like getting everyone wet.

Great guess, but incorrect!

Here is line three for Limerick One.
The maximum score is now three points.

Uhh, Ultros? I can't remember if he has a water attack but he certainly does spray...something at you. Typhon is pretty ugly and it's not too farfetched to believe Ultros considers his partner-in-crime a mere pet. The octopus is also dirty in more ways than one.

Gilgamesh if only because he also used Typhon as a pet in ffv

Great guesses but both incorrect!
Typhon was Ultros' 'pet' named after his Greek mythological counterpart's father.
Enkidu was Gilgamesh's 'pet' named after his 'wild-man' companion in Mesopotamian mythology. Later reimagined as a green chicken in FFXIV.
Alas, neither of those are this.

Here is line four for Limerick One.
The maximum score is now two points.

Yeah, Corneo is lewd and uses the trap door to drop you into the sewer with his pet Aps.

  • Haha
Reactions: Six
"The Don" because of his pet Abzu and his dirty manners !

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! :corneo:
You win two points!

In the original the 'pet' was called Aps, but in the Remake it was given the more correct name of Abzu (named after a primeval sea in Sumerian/Akkadian mythology). In both games Don Corneo sends his enemies through a trapdoor into the sewers where they encounter his pet.

The complete limerick reads:
There was a man with an ugly pet
He loved to get everyone wet
Not only was he dirty
He was oppressively flirty
But unlike some this creep could sweat.

Bonus: Anyone can complete this bonus to win a single point. Simply post in this thread before the contest ends.
