Is anybody even playing anymore?

As someone who started playing the RPG and then gave up pretty much immediately after, here's what I thought: For something which I take is mostly meant as a fun little additional thing for the forum, I just thought it much too difficult and time consuming. I spent 45 minutes in it and didn't really feel like I was getting anywhere, so I lost interest.

Well I know Bolt has an area started. We discussed this the other day. I was considering just having him continue work on it. We could also workout the issues with the spells in the meantime. Maybe do some tests with different players to see what needs to be done to fix . I will also help Bolt complete his area. I want to complete my Abyssal series. It still has one final section. I am not sure if the segment, Bolt was working on, was his final segment. I do not know. But I think you would enjoy his story.

Still, we have the players who got stuck and quit. Adding Bolt's section would probably only be enjoyed by a handful of players.

Well, it's good to see that progress is being made. Do you have an estimated time of completion for these areas?

Ya'll are lucky an RPG director left himself open to to questions like this. It gives the folks time to input suggestions that normally wouldn't be said, and I have seen a handful of blunt replies.

Just be mindful of this, because we could just keep the RPG totally deactivated as well.

My thoughts on this are simple.

1) I played till 30 with pretty speedy of a PVE build. I quit at 30-35 because the content no offense, was very very very very limited. I get bored of games where I have to solo one mob 200+ times in order to get to the next staging area.

My Suggestion

1) To work on getting old and new content together, unless by all means all 3 mods think the old content is sufficient.

2) Keep this thread or let the community keep suggesting things in order to get good feedback. Sometimes feedback is crap, but for creativity inspiration often times a new RPG director can be avoided, more often times folks just need a different outlook on something. Trust me if I rely on myself all the dang time, I screw up.

3) Diar, I know your suggestion was more of a reaction based of reality, but please do consider all the reasons (not meant to be excuses) why the RPG can't be worked on 24/7. I do agree delaying it for 3 months when folks want to play might be a bit excessive, but let's keep encouraging these fellas by inputting suggestions and constructive criticism then merely making a blunt comment like "maybe you should step down". I know you didn't mean it like that, but know that Koloth is working hard to satisfy while still going through a bit of life.

4) RPG directors are now actively persuing changes to this game, hence the whole thread in the first place. I insist that these fellas now are working on new areas.. as of today from private discussions.

Keep up the hard work and thanks again fellas.

I'm aware I went too far with that comment, and I take it back and apologize. I just got a little heated.

As of right now, I took the time to speak to Koloth privately about certain issues and get some more feedbacks. We are considering a few options, which should help the stability of the game, but right now nothing's set in stone yet since I have to speak to a few other people first before anything is finalized. So just be patient, guys and thanks for the feedbacks so far.

People, I've been RPG Moderator for some time before stepping out, and what Koloth says is right, sometimes you get burned out really easily especially when you get people demanding new areas 24/7. The fact is, not everybody can storm through the areas in a matter of hours, some people take more time. It takes time and patience to make a balanced game, this coming from my own personal experience.

Coming from a former RPG Moderator's point of view, I have to concur with Shu in a few points.

1) The game has become quite repetitive and hard in the later areas. It actually takes too many battles to move from one area to the next. I actually quit when I reached the Castle because of the level requirement. I simply don't feel like spending over a 1000 battles to reach the level I need to move to the next area. Some people have that patience...I don't.

2) Not much content besides monsters and the old hack and slash has been added. Perhaps encouraging other aspects of the game such as alchemy and wielding would be beneficial. Of course, try to keep the requirements to a reasonable level. A player who has over a 2000 wielding obviously has way too much in his hands... :wacky:

3) A lot of things can be done with NPCs. Not all of them have to be random "chats" with a link to the next area at the end of the conversation.

4) The "player vs. a mini army" is getting old, especially if they heal and we have monsters spamming spells all over the place.

5) We should only have an attack type per weapon class and stick with it.

6) You can add item hunting as a requirement to reach to the next area. I did it once with a "ghost demon" holding a key which was necessary to open a door. Gave it a low encounter percentage and ganged him with weak monsters. The difficult thing was not killing him....it was finding him.

7) An Esuna kind of spell IS possible to remove stat reducing spells. You can work on it with the Null-Spell option. I've tested it once and it DID work.

8) The map is getting old too xD

But anyway, the beginning was ok....but somehow later on it became repetitive...

Just a little added note, there was a good reason for the level requirements to start certain areas. I noticed, in last game, that low levels were getting assisted to areas where they could not reach on their own. There was a level 13 in an area, if you soloed, you would need to be level 50+. So we started the level requirement. Now if you are doing 1k battles to reach that level, something is very wrong with how the requirement was set.

The main problem is that the monsters start giving like 1 exp, and some battles take a lot of time so you can easily be fighting for hours for just one level. That doesn't sound to encouraging. Long battles should be boss fights, but normal fights shouldn't be that hard.

Hm.

Perhaps it might be slow Internet on my side? Or just an unresponsive site. Whichever the case, I found battling in the RPG horrendously frustrating. For reasons unexplained, the opponent takes forever to retaliate. I initially had some amount of patience in these sort of battles, but I guess that was lost somewhere along the way... like, the time when the previous RPG was using Odin Sphere as theme.

That, and, hey, the RPG changes faster than I can manage. I barely get to a desirable level, and the RPG begins to change. Well, that's because I joined late, but oh well. And also, as a result of different time zones, I'm always on during the period where most members are offline. Too bad.

So... Yeah.

I made a character and started playing the RPG, but I quit 10 minutes afterward. Some people may love to grind, but I sure as hell don't. Grinding sucks, plain and simple. I should not have to play for about an hour to just gain one level. It's annoying, and it breeds fucking boredom.

Not to mention it isn't exactly fair that someone playing a Mage class can get destroyed by a Warrior in about two hits, and the Mage can't hit the Warrior for shit. I don't know about you, but Mages are supposed to be the damage dealers, Warriors are supposed to be tanks. Mages should be doing more DPS than a Warrior.

Plus, the plot is almost non-existent. The music selection sucks. I'm not sure if that's been changed, but only having the choice of 1 song... Sucks. Sure, I can play my own music and turn yours off, but to have the option to switch to epic tracks that I may not have on my computer would be grand.

Personally, I can easily see myself working on a game like this non-stop for every ounce of free time I have. I love to create shit, and I love to write, code, among other things. But from complaints I have heard (not seen mind you, I can't play the RPG due to the fact that gameplay wise, it's boring) there is a huge lack of content. There are three of you. This is going to sound fucking rude, and I do apologize beforehand, but what the fuck are you guys doing?

I know Bolt is supposed to be working on an area, but that's one area for the months that people have had no new content. Most MMO's that go through something like that fail.

Examples: All Points Bulletin, Age of Conan, Aion

All Points Bulletin is now closed, and Age of Conan's and Aion's population is nowhere near where it used to be.

In order for a game to be successful, you need to focus on keeping it fresh, and you need to listen to your fan base. This means that if you see a majority of your players bitching about something, do something about it. If you realize that there has been no new content in a while, make some.

Hell, I would play if there was some kind of plot, and if I didn't have to grind for hours just to gain a level. Grinding fucking sucks. (Perfect World)

Also, most people will hate this idea, but I hate fucking builds. I try to avoid any game with builds. Am I the only motherfucker left alive that likes set character classes?

I have loads of suggestions, and about two boat loads of ideas. However, I seriously think they'll just go to waste, whether I mention them or not.

(Also, just on a side note, if one doesn't understand an idea, it doesn't make it a bad idea. Maybe you should just open your mind and attempt to take it in and have it explained properly to you. Also, if the idea comes from a game you don't like, don't blow it off immediately. /me looks at no one in particular)

My TV and PS3 is right near my computer so I can play a better RPG game then the one on this site............

Battles do take a lot of time and even if you fixed the boredom I still think people it wouldn't make any difference...........as for entertainment on this forum the arcade is much better than the RPG game on this forum............

But I'm sure a few people do play this game............I'd say make this easier and shorter...........who wants to spend hours upgrading a character anyway?

May I suggest getting a bigger/ more determined staff? I for one would love to work on the RPG if need be. I love writing scripts and stories! Plus you all could really do something with the NPC's looks and the enemy pics in the RPG> I would lov to Graphically design custom Backgrounds and monster images for the RPG. I think a new map would be in order as well...I get on this site like once a day and most of the time I'm mindlessly posting in threads. I would love to help you guys work on the RPG. I think that if you had a bigger staff, the RPG would progress along alot faster. And I would love to write an actual adventure for the storyline for the Next RPG. The story of this one is pretty....randomly....um....not...bad but it...could use some work....Just contact me ^_^
