What are some of your favorite holiday food? It doens't just have to be limited to winter holiday food, it can be others too.

Christmas:

Ginger bread cookies. Love them. I plan on making a batch next week.

pork roast: my mom makes the best for christmas dinner.

Peppermin Stick ice cream: one of my favorite flavors but I only like it around Christmas.

Thanksgiving:

Mashed Potatoes: I love having them during Christmas dinner.

Pecan Pie: My favorite Thanksgiving dessert.

For Xmas we usually do a Lamb Roast, Beef Roast and a Turkey With lots of awesome sides and mum usually makes us a cinnamon cake :D so nommy!

Bergs :jess: Most people call them divinity or divinity fudge, but in my family we call them "bergs" because we put chocolate chips on the inside, and when you bite into one it looks like a little iceberg with penguins inside ^_^ ...Er, sort of. But it is extremely delicious, and I actually know how to make it too :P I really should make it more often, I usually only end up eating it for Christmas :hmmm: I would definitely recommend trying it if anyone ever sees it at a party or anything.

Holiday is my special day Holiday foods include everything from great savory dishes to decadent desserts. Learn tips on how to create the best holiday foods this winter season. My planned this day Features ideas for food, drink and decoration for holidays and parties.

I'm quite fond of mince pies, but they MUST be my mother's. I refuse to eat any other's - she makes awesome pastry, and I find that the ones that come from shops taste like crap, or are far too rich and make me gag...home-made mince pies FTW ♥

I'm also very fond of those party-sized sausage rolls...we always get those at Christmas, and I tend to eat the majority of them. You can buy them all year round, but mother doesn't buy them except at Christmas :hmph:

the single greatest christmas food is sausages wrapped in bacon. my mum only ever makes two each though. :sad3: we're going to my sister's for it this year though, so she might make more. if not then christmas is completely ruined.

Yes, NOW you're talking. Pigs in blankets is the best thing served over here. :jess:

The overall Christmas dinner over here is still nice, though. I'm a big fan of the meat of either chicken or turkey and love the roast potatoes and vegetables served with it. But you can't have a Christmas dinner without some gravy!

hahahaha i remember us discussing kilted sausaged before so i knew what you were gunna say when i seen yer post :lew:
And i completely agree with pooley. Kilted sausages/ sausages wrapped up in bacon are the best damn thing about christmas.
Wev got like 5 packs in the freezer :wacky: Their from M&S aswell :ohoho:
Apart from that i love the soup that my aunt makes. She makes amazing vegetable broth. I never tell my mum this but my aunts cooking is soooo much better, so hoping we manage to make it to hers for christmas dinner :gasp2:

It is egg whites ^_^ I can't remember exactly what goes in it but it's basically sugar, egg whites, and flavorings whipped together with an electric mixer until it gets fluffy, then you fold in the chips and make little blobs of it on tinfoil. Then put it in an oven that you've preheated and turn the oven off immediately, and they solidify that way, you just let them sit in the oven without actually "cooking" them, you just have to wait for them to solidify and get cool as the oven cools down. It usually takes a few hours or so, but it's worth the wait :D

Also, my other picture link seems to have failed :gonk:, but all the other ones I found were ridiculously large, so it was just a bag of Hershey's Candy Cane flavored Kisses. They're like white chocolate with red mint stripes, they're really good and they only sell them around Christmastime. Which is why I consider them a holiday food and don't eat three bags of them every day, all year round :wacky:

I have a long list of favorite Christmas foods...a lot are probably favorites in general, but taste better during the Christmas time: Prime Rib, turkey, ham, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, cheesy potatoes, pumpkin pie, homemade fudge, any of an assortment of Christmas cookies, and the peppermint bark that they cell at Ghirardelli during Christmas.

The only holiday food that's ever really different from the norm is Christmas food.

It's the only real big holiday we celebrate. =P

But I LOVE big fat hams for Christmas lunch/dinner. :gonk:

Along with Roast potatoes, pumpkin and onion. :gonk:

That is a must on Christmas day!

For Dessert, Rum Balls are always a must! They only ever really get made at this time of the year. I get too lazy to make them any other time. =P

But yah I'm not fussy as long as we always have the above on the menu. =P

Thanksgiving turkey, Christmas ham, and the Macaroni and Cheese that we make for both. Give me that for the rest of all my foreverz and I'll be happy as fudge. Seriously.... Mom usually makes this stuff, and her cooking is the best. She comes up with the different ideas for ham glazes and mac and cheese ideas too. These foods are just awesome! :)
