Final Fantasy Advertising on TV?

In all my years of playing this series I have only just seen 1 or ads for major release titles on TV........Maybe because Australia is not the highest population market i the world.

What I wanna know is is there an abundance of Adverts in other markets?

Or is TV a dead medium For Game releases these days what with the advent of
Interwebz?

IMO TV has a low to medium range of reaching the target audience...........us I guess.
 
In my case, it's mostly XBOX games like Halo or Gears of War games that get the limelight on TV, for FF for instance i've only ever seen FF3 DS and FF13 advertised. As far as advertising is concerned, the Xbox is the more popular console of choice, least in the UK imo :hmmm:
 
Yeah 70 millon people and a huge gaming interest vs 21 million Aussies who'd rather go out on the piss then Trample through a FF makes the UK 1 of the highest grossing markets in the world.

Here its also mainly Xbox and Wii games, that get ant tv-time...cant actually remember seing any ps3 games :wtf: maybe MoH..not sure though..
But have never seen any tv-time for any FF-games, dont think thats a big seller here...guess they only advertise for those games that they are pretty sure will sell, like Halo, Gears of war, rockband and singstar.
 
Here in the netherlands Im pretty sure there's always been a add for the major FF titles,
what I remember clearly is -

-FFX Add on TV
-FFX-2 Add on TV
-FF12 Add on TV
-FF13 Add on TV

Now all the older ones have an add also but thats been like ages for me and I cant remember exactly what happened in those adds/trailers.

But here all the adds were awesome except FF13..Leona Lewis xD
 
i saw a few adverts for dissidia when it came out.... a few for kh birth by sleep... but mainly ffxiii and ff3 ds...

ffx was advertized as well

i'm UK :) and the uk are trying to rise sales for PSP'S reasons for dissidia and birth by sleep being advertised :)

oh i saw a advert for crisis core when it went on platium :)
 
there's been an ad on TV for pretty much every FF in Japan, the recent FFXIV one had Touma Ikuta, a very popular Japanese actor, in it. So SE are actually making a effort with this. Here's the FFXIV one:

And I do seem to remember there being a TV-ad versions of Melodies of Life on the IX soundtrack. They also do collaborations with Coca Cola and stuff so that they can use FF characters on coke ads.

But I suppose this is just in Japan, not really see much FF on TV here in the UK. All we see are Call of Duty, GTA, Red Dead, Gears of War etc.; mainly X-Box games. I seem to remember seeing an ad for the DS remake of FFIII or IV though... and I definitely saw one for Dragon Quest.
 
It more depends on the actual console developer and market rather than Square-Enix themselves. I've never seen a Final Fantasy title advertised other than Final Fantasy XIII, there probably have been others, but few and far between.

The way I see it, in regards to the UK (and this is by no means correct), console Final Fantasy titles always sell so there's probably little need to spend millions advertising something if it won't have a huge impact. Final Fantasy XIII was only advertised on the Xbox 360 because Microsoft have a massive advertising scheme in comparison to Sony, and more money to use, too. Final Fantasy XIII was always going to sell in numbers on the Playstation 3 in which the Xbox 360 there wasn't a great certainty so as well as advertising the game, they advertise their console as well.

Sony have never been big on advertising unless it's exclusive titles.
 
Hm... not really seen much in the way of FF advertisements.
May have seen an FF DS one, not too sure. Definitely saw DQIX though.
And I remember seeing KH2 when it first came out...

Really, that's it though.
The game adverts are either Wii games like Wii Fit or Xbox games, as mentioned above.
 
Not long ago when ffxiii came out I swear i listened the theme of my hands and the advertisement clip a hundred times (and also of god of war 3 which came out sensibly by that time). Things said, I saw it in a sports channel o_O kinda odd ...

OH also reminds me of watching FFX-2 clip several times in a regular tv [FONT=&quot]channel[/FONT]. Besides final fantasy it's not like everyday to watch advertisement on tv for games in general unless they reach a higher ground and are [FONT=&quot]commonly [/FONT]the subject for folks.
 
I do remember seeing a TV ad in the UK for FFVIII around the time it came out, plus a few magazine ads for it. And my siblings say they remember a TV ad for FFVII.
 
Eh if you want to know about gaming releases, watch a gaming channel or programs that have the latest info in gaming.

on most other channels, the only news we get about videogames are short ads with poopy cinematics that say they're about to be released in like 3 days.
 
I saw a few Dissidia adverts but none other than that. I don't know why they have been so lax these years. Maybe they just think that people who play the games don't watch TV or something. But as Ryan said, it does really depend on the developer and target market a whole lot.
 
I've only ever seen the Xbox 360 release of Final Fantasy XIII being advertised, and Ryan's already gone into detail about why that was widely advertised here in the UK. Xbox 360 gamers in this country aren't exactly very enlightened or enthusiastic by and with JRPGs in general, perhaps let alone Final Fantasy in general - so Microsoft was certainly going to push for advertisements of their port of the game. I'm really not used to seeing a FF commercial pop up at all. It felt alien to me for some reason when I heard "My Hands" blaring from my TV screen.

The first and only Final Fantasy TV commercial I saw in Quebec was for FFVII in 1997. I was so amaze by the quality of the graphics and it looked so epic that I said to myself that I absolutely needed that game. Especially after FFIV and FFVI I had high expectations about a 3D Final Fantasy.

Holy shit. I've seen a bunch of ads on YouTube before, but never have I seen an actual FF ad on TV! Wow, that's actually kinda shocking. All I remember is seeing a Kingdom Hearts ad back in 2001/2002 playing on TV a lot. But never for an FF game. Those fucking shooter games get all the ads :hmph:
