This is a really cool idea, especially good timing for me too as I'm just starting to get back into the swing of things with PS. Expect a PM coming your way as soon as I fish through the less embarrassing stuff of mine.
 
Okay guys. I was going to post up the Tutor/Student pairings today, but I'm just waiting to hear back from a couple of other ideal tutors. =]

So expect this month's roster to go up tomorrow or tuesday. ^.^

Okay, quick question: Do the students work as partners (if we're in a pairing), or is it solo work?
 
Pretty sure it's solo work, but there's also no harm teaching both students at the same time. Vikki will have to verify this one.

I do have a question too.
5] During the last week of every month, every tutor must give their student/s a challenge, involving any techniques they may have helped their students on over the previous three weeks. This is so we can see how each student has improved over the month.

Will the challenge be showcased in public or will it be a private matter? I think posting the students' challenges in public (you could start a different thread so it doesn't get too cluttered in here) after the three weeks are up would also give the teachers some sort of credibility in the long-run so that other students may see what kind of style or technique they can garner from each different teachers by looking at their students' results. If that made any sense.

We want to make sure that teachers are also doing their part and making sure they're on top of things with their students, and this is one effective way I can see. =] Unless of course you had something else in mind.
 
It'll be a public showcase, yes. I was going to make a stickied, closed thread and make a post with the showcase every month =]

I just want to make sure, are the students I'm working with have Photoshop? Because I don't think I can work with someone who doesn't have it due to the fact I wouldn't know what is the equivalent of what I want to teach is in the other program, if that made any sense...
 
I'm not sure. I think Oliver has GIMP but he knows what the alternative from Photoshop is so if you suggested something, he'd know what you meant I believe. If you don't know, just as one of the other tutors, Ahmed. One of us is bound to know the alternative. =3
 
Um I use GIMP too, I hope that's OK?

And do we just ask questions and stuff? Or are tasks set for us? I've been looking at stuff for photoshop because I think it's basically similar....
 
I know enough about GIMP I think, to understand what is different. =]

And you can ask questions etc. And you have a task set for you in three weeks. ^_^ To see how any of the techniques your tutors have taught you have helped. Techniques can be anything. Lighting, depth, text. You'll learn all sorts. =]
