I always go to the Hairdresser to get my hair cut.

But after going on Thursday to get a trim I was seriously considering just letting Steve trim my hair from now on.

He's pretty good at doing his own hair, so I think I might let him just do mine as well.

I'm over spending $30 just for a freaking trim! That wasn't even a style cut! Just a trim! I think it's ridiculous that they can charge that much. All they do is spend a few minutes doing what Steve could do at home and then they charge you out the ass for it.

Another thing that annoys me about them is that they just do things without asking and then they charge you for it. Like blow-drying your hair or something.

Or they ask you if you'd like a treatment or something, but they ask you in a way that you think it's just part of the service. If you weren't someone who went to the hairdressers all the time, you wouldn't think to ask, "Will that cost extra?"

They ask in such a way that you really wouldn't think you'd be charged for it at the end.

Oh and I remember one time I had a coupon that would give me half price off half a head of foils. After they'd done my hair I went to pay and pulled out the coupon and they said, 'Oh, you need to show us that before we do anything."

I said, "Well it doesn't say that on the coupon. How would I know that?"

They muffled something and accepted it anyway, but seriously what's the big deal? Do they want to see the coupon first so that they can decide on whether to do my hair the same as if I was paying full price? Would they cheap out on me because they knew I had the coupon? It shouldn't really matter unless that was the reasoning, in which case it is totally wrong.

What about you?

I go to the hairdressers every few months... I always ask to have it styled. I have layers in my hair, so they get tidied, and I ask for a side fringe too. It always gets far too long...

The service is fantastic, but it costs so much! :ness: To have my hair washed and styled, I have to pay £40. :( But since I only go 3 or 4 times a year, I feel that's not TOO bad.

Colouring is another story. I tend to colour my own hair because to have it done at the hairdressers costs an extra £70!!! :O

That is extremely cheeky of them! :/ I'm never brave enough, but I always feel like complaining when something like this happens. :hmph: I'm glad they gave you the discount... Perhaps they used a muffled voice because they were trying to get away with charging you more!!

I do not trust myself with scissors, so I tend to always go to get mine cut at a hairdressers.

However, I don't really have any fancy things done to it. I just get it cut, and get my fringe and sideburns trimmed a bit. No colouring, no fluffing etc.

It never costs more than £10 for me. Perhaps I go to a cheap place, but it seems to work. Well, it works in the sense that the end result is me walking about how I tend to look - whatever that is.

Yeah i go to a barbers everytime. Id never let a mate cut it or anything. My mates ex was a hairdresser and i had her do it a few times but she didnt make as good as job as my regular place.
Its only like £7.50 for a trim and i dont get my haircut all that often so its no big deal really. I think il be going there next week as im overdue a cut now.

I too have the same problem :(

I usually just go to get a trim, sometimes I will get layers. But seriously, they charge so much :O

They asked me if I wanted a "neck massage." I said sure haha. They rubbed the back of my neck for a minute with some oil thingy, it felt weird. I found out later that they charged me 5 extra dollars for it :O

Usually my bill is around $35, and that is too much :hmph: Luckily I like my hairdresser so it isn't so bad :lew:

I'd never get anyone other than a hairdresser to cut my hair. Ever :hmmm:
Maybe I'm paranoid that someone not properly trained will fuck it up, I dunno.

But the hairdresser's I got to charges me £10 for it to be styled. I normally go in for a trim - I don't change hairstyle often - but that includes tidying up all my layers and thinning it out again. Still only £10 though. I think it's a relatively cheap hairdressers but they're pretty good.

The only thing I don't like about hairdressers is the awkward conversation they try and make with you. I'd rather they just shut up and concentrated on cutting my hair :wacky: I actually saw my hairdresser in subway at 3am this morning though so at least I'll have something to mention next time I go in :hmmm:

As a child up until the age of 12 my mother cut my hair. She did a terrible job, it was always crooked, and bits were left long, I hated it. As soon as i could pay myself I started to go to the hairdressers and I will never let anyone other than a pro touch my hair again. Though sometimes, if I just need a fringe cut I will do it myself, I don't do that bad a job on it either /smug

My hairdresser costs a fortune, even trims cost about $80. Then I like to get a colour so the price goes well above $100. I guess it's stupid to pay that much for a cut but eh I want it to look nice. I'm usually happy with the cut my hair dresser does. Plus getting a haircut from a pro is very relaxing and satisfying, I love the head massage you get when they wash your hair :ryan:

This was always my favourite part of going to the hairdressers. :sad3:

I didn't even get to have one last time because that would have cost me an extra $30 or something.

Whenever Steve would mention letting him cut my hair I always said, " No way, you'll destroy it and then I'll have to go to the hairdresser anyway!"

I dunno, I'm stilly iffy on him touching my hair.

But we're poor at the moment and I really don't feel great when I hand $30+ over to someone who seems to do nothing special/complicated but take an inch off my ends and that's it. :hmmm:

Maybe I'll just wait longer between haircuts and save in between those longer periods of going without.

I used to get my hair cut every two months. >.<

i go to the barbers. nothing fancy, cheap and cheerful. the less small talk the better.

sometimes i do it myself with a nasal hair trimmer because i dont have a lot of hair. i am balding at my tender age. but mostly i will go to the barbers and they will charge me 7 quid i think. a bit less if i decide to tell them i'm a student. but i'd rather pay the extra for them to just not talk to me tbh.

I go to a hairdresser every two months.

I get my hair washed which feels really good as the chair is a massaging chair not to mention the workers massaging my head which is so pleasant.

Then I get a haircut and some gel to spike my hair up.

That's all really.

I don't often cut my hair but more often than not, when I do cut it I go to a shop. I have a habit of not fucking with the knots in my hair so I end up just cutting it out, which leaves my hair uneven. So about once or twice a year I go in and get a trim to even it out, take off the split ends and keep the back of my hair from going into my shirt.

And always have them wash my hair. Fucking love that. Feels so good cause the place I go to has a girl named Brandy who has those magic fingers I adore. Quickest way to my heart is with a damn good massage. My ex never understood that; yet another lesser reason I dumped him.

I tend to go to the hairdressers every 6 weeks or so since even though my hair doesn't get overly long in that period it gets insanely thick and almost impossible to do anything with. I make sure it's the same woman too since she knows how I like my hair doing, she's a fantastic hairdresser and she has good banter. The only downside is that it comes to £32-£41 depending on what day of the week it is, although I normally go when I can receive student discount.

I did try a more local hairdressers over the summer which cost £8 and she did a pretty good job considering the price and it would have been practical if I constantly kept my hair at a shorter length but she definitely did not cut it with the intention that it was going to be 6 weeks before my next cut so I went back to my old hairdresser.

Not as often as I should, especially when i decide im growing my hair, its been looking really straggly recently though, so i decided to finally book myself into a decent hairdresser, cost a fortune, but it was worth it, my hair is happier now!

I usually jut go for a trim as and when i can be arsed, but i suppose i should make a point of going for a regualr trim really or it'll just start looking scruffy aGAIN AND PISS ME OFF

Fuck off caps lock

I tend to go to a hairdresser once every six months or so, for the sake of getting it neatened out more than anything else; my hair is messy and unruly, but it stays a fairly constant length. It grows back in about a month when it's cut anyway, with more to spare besides :hmph:

My mother cut my hair all the way through my childhood, as well...until I was sixteen, when I started College and realised I could look a mess if I wanted to. xD

I tend to go to the hairdressers about every six-eight weeks, to try keep it as healthy as possible. I get split ends too often.

I used to go to the salon to get my hair cut but now i just get my fiencee to do it as she is training to be a barber and there is no point heading into town and spending money on something i can get for free at home, it's just great.

admittedly i only used to spend like 6 pounds on a haircut as im a guy and we have the added perk of not requiring much money to get our hair cut, but i still love the fact that i save myself 10 pounds (6 pound hair cut, 2 pound bus fair there and back again)

THIS.

That happened to me. I came in for your typical hot-oil treatment, and while they were washing my hair, the person asked if I wanted aromatherapy. I thought it was just some sort of shampoo at the time so I said 'sure'. They charged me 250 more after it was done. It's ridiculous. :\

the less small talk the better.

I can't do small talk with hairdressers. I'm bad at it. :wacky: I've been going to the same hairdresser for two years now and we're compatible as he doesn't do much talking. He came to know me by name because I always ask for him - he's fantastic with hair. We'll exchange 'how are you's and immediately after he'll just ask what I want done then I'll read a magazine in silence.

I always go to the barber, it's much cheaper and easier than a hairdresser, or your mate who's 'just getting in to cutting hair'. I used to go to this great guy in the town, then my mam started sending us somewhere else. It was ok I guess, and over the years I assumed that all barbers cut the same really. Then in the last year or so, the guy started giving me shit haircuts. He always made bad conversation too, it was really awkward. I grew my hair out a bit, then when he cut it he gave me a bowl cut. So I decided "fuck this" and went back to my barber from ten years ago

Best decision ever, he's even better than I remember. Unlike the other guy, he actually seems to really love his job. He cut my hair pretty much exactly how I asked, mainly taking most of it off to undo the last guy's damage. We had a nice chat and it didn't get terribly awkward like it does with most barbers

The other day I went back in for a small trim, to tighten up the sides so my hair will look good when it grows back out. He wouldn't let me pay him, because he said he did so little that it wouldn't be fair. He eventually accepted half the price of a cut, as long as I agreed my next haircut would also be half-price

I've been getting my hair cut by the same girl for like...10 or something years now. She is the only person I'll trust with my hair. Every time I tell her what I want or show her a picture of it she does it just perfectly....and it's the same with my highlightings.

I just got my hair cut again last night and it cost me like $35.00 and I gave her a $6 tip. USUALLY though I just let my cuts go for awhile because I keep my hair long anyways...and I'll go and get it highlighted a couple of times a year. When I get it cut and highlighted it's $120.00 and I only get a partial highlighting done because I have so much hair I'd be sitting there for hours while they foiled my hair for a total.

We get along really well too so it's nice to go in there and let someone else worry about my hair for an hour or two while we talk. It turns out her daughter just started in a nursing program too so we were talking about that last night :lew:

Not regularly, only maybe once a year.

Usually I cut my own hair, but sometimes I get lazy and just want it done ASAP.
Not only that, but I always ask for a wash because it feel so nice. Just like scalp orgasm.
