Crocodile unwell after eating mobile phone

A crocodile at a Ukrainian aquarium has apparently become sick after swallowing a mobile phone that a visitor accidentally dropped into its enclosure.

The BBC reports that 14-year-old Gena has been refusing to eat since the incident and is lacking energy.

Rimma Golovko had stretched out her arm to take a photograph of the reptile when her phone slipped. "This should have been a very dramatic shot, but things didn't work out," she said.

Workers didn't believe the accident had occurred until the woman's phone began to ring while inside the crocodile.

A member of staff at the Dnipropetrovsk aquarium told the AP: "He moves very little and swims much less than he used to."

The animal may need to operated on after refusing to eat live quail injected with a laxative. Golovko says that she would like her SIM card back as it contains all her contacts.

Not only is it funny that it swallowed it, but the owner's asking for it back. God, some people can be so amusing when things like this happen. xD

Haha Yeah I saw this in the news as well........there comparing it to the croc in peter pan which swallowed a clock and was ticking.

It's hard to tell without knowing how much time passed between the time it ate the phone, and the publishing of the article, but it could be possible that the phone's battery leaked, and that's what's causing it to feel ill Crocs are supposedly known for having hearty digestive systems though, so she may not get her SIM card back XD From everything I've heard though, the animal should be okay eventually. At least it was a phone and not a toddler though, because that actually happened once too, that's why they tell you to keep your body parts outside of the enclosure

Wouldn't want to put that phone back up to my ear after it'd been in a crocs guts anyway. XD

Not the end of the world. You can just add the people you actually talk to again, unless it's someone overseas or in another state that's hard to reach.

I always write all my numbers down now in case that happens again to me.

This Croc is a chicken, i seen crocs eat worse stuff than this and they are fine, these things eat cows and they have 4 stomachs! held in captivity this Lizard lost its balls and is lazy, pampered to much.*rants*

I have eaten crocodile. It tastes a bit like chicken to me only it's much tougher.

And yes this croc is a bit of a pansy. They eat all sorts of garbage all the time in the wild.

Sometimes when they open the guts up of a croc to search for a person they think it's eaten they often find numberplates, shoes etc. XD
