I swear to God I make a thread about this but I can not find it anywhere. I must of dreamt it.

Anyway just wondering, do you prefer to use your card or cash when you're out?

Do you ever carry cash?

I never do and it's annoying when you go to cash only stores. <_< But that's the only real problem I have with it.

I just hate having money in my wallet these days because I know that when I see it I'll want to spend it. Back when I was a teenager and always had cash on me I felt like I was rich and I just spent it on anything.

Since around 2007 I've never had cash in my wallet unless someone had to pay me back for something or other and in those cases I would go to the bank and deposit it. I never go to ATM's and get cash out anymore. I just leave it all in the bank where it's safe.

I'm always afraid I'll get robbed as well. It's easier to cancel cards than it is to get your cash back. And even if I couldn't cancel my cards they wouldn't get much out of my account anyway, as I have a seperate savings account that is not linked to any cards. XD

I love your random Small Talk topics :ryan:

Anyways, I used to pay for pretty much everything by cash, because as someone who grew up with very little money to hand, it felt bloody wonderful to have money in my pocket to spend. I've kinda grown out of it though, because using my debit card is so much more convenient.

I tend to carry £10 or so in my wallet, for emergencies; i.e. if the ticket machine isn't working on the platform, or if I see something I like in a shop that I'd like to buy that is under that amount. It's rare that I carry any more than that for any longer than ten minutes; if I have more than that in my wallet, it's because I'm transferring it from my savings account to my current account, or because it was given to me.

I feel less guilty when I use cash tbh...however I very rarely use cash. I use cash to pay for gas and food and use my credit card for everything else. I don't feel comfortable carrying a lot of money on me at any given time I guess.

I should really get into the habit of leaving my credit card at home when I go out. Having it on me is too tempting...as I'm really an impulse buyer and I know it. That still doesn't save me from online shopping though :(

I use checks too...but only to pay my bills really.

I keep a small amount of cash (change and a note or two) on me as much as I can because you don't know when you'll need it. Not everywhere or every situation has the ability to accept cards. But if the place does accept cards then I'll use it. It's not very smart to keep a large sum of cash on you at all.

At somepoint soon im going to sort out my two accounts and possibly have a third set up so I have a savings account, a current account for direct debits and everyday spending (food shopping and not-so-disposable income etc). Those two will be left at home and not carried with me unless needed. A third for actual disposable income that I'll take out and spend as I wish, and so if it is lost or stolen and money from it is lost it doesn't really matter as I'll have all the essential monies in other places.

If I can use my card then Il use it, even if its for 50p, i resent having to go to the cash machine. I dont like carrying paper money becasue i always think ive binned it, or im going to bin it, or its screwed up in my purse and i cant find it

Lose change just pisses me off

Its like, why cant a fucking bus accept card paymednts, why do i have to go draw a pissing tenner out, to spend a quid then be left with a load of jingle -__-

I fucking hate money. il only draw it out if i absolutely have to or someone has given me their share of cash when we've gone for food

never use credit cards, id rather go without

wai

I don't really like carrying Cash on my person. Because if i have cash on me I tend to spend it quicker. I drive people nuts because I always have to go to an ATM to withdraw money, I also only ever withdraw tiny amounts like $20 hahaha then later I need more so I have to go and withdraw more.

It's not that i am scared I'll get mugged for my money or anything, I just don't like to fill my purse up with coins and notes, I like to just use my card wherever I can.

I use my card everywhere. Il carry a small amount of cash on me for food or whatever when im out but besides that everything is done with card.
Im not keen on carrying money. I know nothings gunna happen but i would rather lose my card and not my card and money. A cards cancelled in a few minutes.

Obviously in a bar il pay with cash. Tbh i would use my card there if it was quicker but its not really a good option. Same goes with little food places like greggs etc.
Ive even took to using my card to order takeaway online now :gasp: The whole world is going plastic.

I rarely use cash, but I usually keep some cash in my wallet, just in case. I'm rarely in a situation where I need to use cash, but I like to be prepared. :lew:

The difference between credit and debit cards. :ohshit:

If your credit card is stolen, you can be reimbursed for your losses.

But, if your debit card is stolen whatevers gone, is gone.

I carry cash usually & avoid using cards as much as possible. For various different reasons.

I keep a small amount of cash in my purse in case of emergencies and to pay for parking when I go out. when I carry more than about £15 I'm worried it'll get lost or stolen. :wacky:

However, I don't like to pay by card in some stores... If a shop has a certain (seedy) feel, I worry more about having my card details taken down, so in that case, I'll go to a cash point and come back to pay by cash.

A few years ago I always used my card but now I almost never use it aside from when I run out of cash in my wallet.

This is partly because I have one of those dual account things where you have to transfer money from your main account into another account so it can actually be used and I like to keep the accessible account at $100 for some reason. Additionally I don't have a stable job, so most of my money is cash from doing odd jobs here and there.

I don't like carrying huge amounts of cash in my wallet unless I am going to buy something expensive.

I only work part-time so I get paid on average 50 squids a week, I put 80-100 in the credit union (savings, so I can't access it from an ATM) and then keep the rest in my wallet for my week's expenses. I put like 20 of that aside too, for upcoming presents, games etc.

Card. It's so much easier to have all your money contained in one card than in notes and silly coins. I do feel a bit odd when I use my card to pay for something small like a can of coke but it's normally more convenient. Except the other day when I had to catch the bus, I had to walk a couple of kilometres to find a dairy where I could get some cash, but that is a very rare occurance.

I'd actually prefer cash :hmmm:

Reason being: It's easy to swipe a card,

but once you're out of cash, that's it :monster:

It helps keep the budget-- I withdraw money and spend the cash I have.
