Pfft who says? It usually comes down to people and how they conduct themselves in certain sections. If they are adamant about a certain section (aside from spamzNope, you can't ask. Just have to apply when the moment shows itself.

I think we all know that's what Pooley meant. I don't think you do your chances any harm by being friends with members of the excellent moderating team. It's human nature to want to 'work' with people you like. Also I don't think you can rule out accusations of cliquishness either, although it has probably decreased, not that I'd dare to imply anything ofc. I'm not saying that sucking helps in particular either, it certainly hasn't helped certain members, again I'm not implying anything either, please do not infract me or ban me.Active and Popular go hand in hand. So yes in a sense you have to be, in that section.
I think you are massively underestimating LG and the rather awesoms Admin Team to be honest =)
I'd have to disagree with the no comparison part to be honest - the staff also perform a service for the site, and they are also chosen for their skill and aptitude at providing that service.
Just because the roles require different abilities doesn't mean they don't both operate on the same principle - that regardless of any other factors, a persons ability to contribute to the site and perform the task required with skill and aptitude is the most important factor in determining whether or not they are chosen for a position.
It would be much like someone suggesting that as you were an RPG admin, you were not actually on staff - and that you somehow had easier entry requirements than a mod for instance. In your case that may be what happened - I wasn't around when you were promoted so i couldn't say, but i never got the impression that RPG admins were evaluated any differently from other staff members - with their ability to perform in the role being the primary and deciding factor.
The process for choosing people in any role, whether it be RPG Admin, Mod or Tech Admin is the same - they are evaluated in terms of their ability to perform the role, and who has friends on staff, or whether or not someone on staff dislikes them is not a factor.
I would say that it's a correct suggestion. At one point there was an actual blacklist thread in HQ though it was taken down because it was utter shite, of course I wouldn't expect you to know this because you weren't on staff at time - whether it was just archived or deleted, I don't know.It was being suggested that the criteria was being "liked" by staff and that some people could be "blacklisted" from getting on staff as an extension of that.
Also I think that if you "Ask" to be on Staff, you're here for the wrong reasons. Goes that way with any boards I'd imagine.
