Im Bored looking to do something new, someone recommend me a game, obviously not FF but another RPG?:bored:

Is this.........is this in the right place?

I recommend Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria. Its one of the best PS2 RPGs, in my opinion. The battle system is fairly unique and quite innovative (its turn-based, but you can run around the battlefield and avoid damage altogether if you're good enough), the storyline and characters are compelling, and it has an absolutely incredible sountrack. The Norse mythology is pretty awesome as well.
...oh, and it has Lezard Valeth in it. This alone is reason enough to buy it.

You could also try Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. Its considered the black sheep of the family by most, and it can get irritating, but its still pretty awesome.

For a grind-fest, you'll find no better than Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. I recommend this one over its sequel for the simple reason that its funnier. The levels in this game go up to 9999, and there is literally hundreds of hours here. The main story is absolutely hilarious.
The second game is admittedly more advanced, but it loses out on a lot of its humour, which is what made the first game so brilliant. Go for the first one and get the second afterwards if you liked what you saw. Don't start with the second~

Mana Khemia is quite a good school RPG, although its more about alchemy than it is about battling enemies.

Dragon Quest XIII is one of the best RPGs I've ever played, due partly to the marvellous localisation work they did for the UK. (y)

There's also Disgaea 2 which is essentially Disgaea 1 with add ons.

Buy Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4, NOW. And look into Atelier Iris 1 and 2, and maybe Ar Tonelico 1 and 2. They're all fun.

I'll recommend the Persona series as well. You could try getting Persona 3: FES too, along with 4. It sort of continues, and personally speaking, I like the Tarot and mythological references in the game. That, and the fact that it's a sort of 'fantasy' set in a modern era. Quite a fresh change from a typical Final Fantasy setting which often features a entirely separate world.

what about Rogue Galaxy..its one of my favo rpg´s out there--its extremely addictive and when I say extremely I mean really extreme !

Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
Kingdom Hearts 2
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy XII
Rogue Galaxy
SO3 (Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. Beware, it's long. Quite difficult in some spots, too.)
Tales of the Abyss (Strongly recommend, high replay value. Luke is a faggot though)

I only really strongly recommend the last two. They were a few of the greatest games to be released for PS2.

Edit: I forgot to say Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. Great game. Disgaea 2 was crap.

L do you mean a Foggot asin the slur used for Gay people or just some Douchebag Guy to avoid.........I really shold ahve listed the ones I already have, Valjyrie Profile, Star Ocean 3, Rogue Galaxy(duh) OJ howd I know you would suggest this?

Dragon Quest VIII

Disgaea sounds interesting

As does Tales of the Abyss

Thanks for the heads up people!

Dragon Quest VIII is definitely worth a pick up, everyone else who recommended it is correct in doing so. When I saw the thread name that and Baldur's Gate popped into my mind, although I'm not 100% if you can classify the later as an RPG. :hmmm:

Luke Fon Fabre is the main character of Tales of the Abyss, and he's really just a nuisance to put up with the entire game. The game is good though, and it's not to say that there isn't a good story or other good characters.

The final boss is one of my favorite antagonists of all time. Try not to read too much though, spoilers are called such for a reason :monster:

what about Rogue Galaxy..its one of my favo rpg´s out there--its extremely addictive and when I say extremely I mean really extreme !

I have to agree here, Rogue Galaxy is an amazing game and one that's very overshadowed by other titles. Sure the story's a little cliché and so on but it gets the job done.
I'd also recommend mana khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis, it's a wonderful game, very colourful.

Wild ARMS 5 is a fantastic game. It's a nice, simple little RPG for the casual or dedicated gamer. You should really try it. It'll have you playing for days.

As Martel said, Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria is fantastic, a really fun game. It doesn't really get into its prime until about halfway through, but when it does, you'll never be bored. There's some incredible twists and a fun battle system.

Persona 3 and 4 are worth your time. If you're gonna get 3, get the FES version. It has a playable epilogue and some nice additions. However, they aren't for the casual gamer. There can be quite a wait between cutscenes and story progression, and there's a social aspect too. Not for someone who just wants dungeon crawling.

SMT: Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 are great dungeon crawlers. There aren't many cutscenes, but the plot is powerful and worth your time to complete.

Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts Covenant for me, I wouldn't reccomend 3 (From The New World or words to that effect) I hear it's 'not really a Shadow Hearts Game'

It's rather dark with some good humour thrown in as well as a decent story and a good bit of focus on monsters too :monster:

As well as that, i'd suggest the Devil Summoner series, I believe some of them hit outside Japan and they are worth a look at, it's more hack and slash based but from what I hear it's a most solid game :awesome:

To be honest with ya, if you ask me I say you can't truly go wrong with any Disgaea game, the franchise as a whole is just really funny and the gameplay is great, with insane replay value for hardcore players.

Also some of the music is pretty awesome, so I would recommend either Disgaea 1 (Hour of Darkness) or 2 (Cursed Memories, though I have the PSP remake titled Dark Hero Days, which has more added to it as well), and nothing else to cloud your judgment as far as my suggestion goes. :P

It is just an excellent series of Tactical RPG games, the battles make you really have to think your way through it sometimes and not just plow through the stages, some enemies are pretty powerful too, but your characters can get really strong as well if you work at it enough. ;)

Cutsie...? And yeah, Disgaea is the funniest of any video games I have ever played, I just find that franchise to be very entertaining, and it can keep you at it for quite a while.

I got Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days for the PSP on August 26th of this year, and I've already got built up 148 hours of play time on it, I am absolutely hooked on it.

And if you have or are planning on getting a PS3, Disgaea 4 will be coming out for it next Summer, and it is looking very promising, can not wait to play it. :awesome:

Son of a bitch Tales of the abyss is not a PAL release!

Tis'a shame it looks decent enough.

I think the game works just fine with a PS2 Emulator. To add the gaming feeling of it, just buy a PSX to USB. It lets you plug your playstation controller up to a computer.

Disgaea it is really funny, I kid you not. If you're looking for humor, buy the first game. The second is funny too but it doesn't have as many funny moments as the first.

Since the ones I wanted to list have already been said, I'll just list this one, Radiata Stories. The game overall could be better but a pretty funny game and you can kick people for the heck of it.
