[30/12] Square Enix Preparing Final Fantasy Type-0?

It appears Square Enix has another Final Fantasy spinoff in the works. By searching Europe’s trademark database, we discovered Final Fantasy Type-0.

In addition to a trademark for a potential title, Square Enix filed a logo for Type-0 with "type zero" written in kanji. Usually, Square Enix just files a title like Nier or Tactics Ogre. Since Square Enix registered a logo too, this is probably bigger.

Square Enix’s 1st production press conference is just a month away. Perhaps, we’ll see Final Fantasy Type-0 popup there.

:hmmm: This is really intriguing... perhaps another possible Dissidia-ish game where it pulls from various games and characters? Or perhaps something that's supposed to make us feel like we're going back to the very beginning of the nes FF's, with nameless characters.. or perhaps a non-installment game that may not even have a story.

WHAT DOES THIS MEEEEEEEEEAN :gasp:
 
Well this certainly is interesting to say the least. Could it be maybe an all new final fantasy spinoff series? This is just my guess for now. Or maybe it is an all new FF... Final Fantasy 0 perhaps? :lew:

Now this bit was interesting. A trademark filed for Europe and the name is in kanji. That's pretty unusual as far as I know of, so I can't quite dismiss it as being something like a Japan-only series of novels or something. We don't seem to have many clues as to what this thing is, and with a logo like this, it might not even be a video game. Maybe another anime spin-off or something?

At first I thought it may be the Final Fantasy title they wanted to send out to western developers, but then I saw the logo and thought it might be targeted more towards the Japs. By the way, real creative with the logo there.

They could always change the title, and I'm guessing this might be a more of a hand-held sort of thing. Type-0...the first image that came to mind was Front Mission. Final Fantasy Mechs?
 
type 0 hmmmm..... square enix are creating a robot that's gonna take over the world :D ;)

to the point, this sounds intresting... maybe they could do a before final fantasy 1 thing like or another dissidia like game could be an option

maybe a dissidia on xbox 360 and ps3 now that would be cool :D

Anyway, I have high hopes that Square Enix will make this a cool game. :D I hope to hear more news about it :3

Actually, that's a pretty good idea too. It'd be interesting to see how that plays out if you're right.
 
If this new game appear on the handhelds I'll be freeking pissed..another lame one bs game...:rage:
They focus on rubish projects.,.its sickening me man,.,....

On the other hand if it will appear on PS3 and it ends up being good, I'll be happy..
Still imo they should focus on FF and their main games..

I really hope this new IP will make a new fresh start for SE, but I doubt it...Seems like another waste of time..and resources////.....
 
Kinda weird to see this.........No idea what it could be,but I'm guessing a whole new final fantasy game.........I don't see if they are going to start a new FF game why not just name it FFXV...........Same could be said for FFXIII versus which shouldn't really be in the fabula nova crystallis.......

Anyway didn't they do this file a tradmark for Final Fantasy Haereris XIII and later denied it to be a game?
 
Type-O? Sounds like a mecha...:hmmm: I wonder what it might be?

I hope it's something worth going for. Type-O sounds intriguing, I just hope it's not a throw away spin-off. And does the title in Kanji really signify anything? It could just be for publicity or something. :hmmm:
 
Unlike the person a little above, I wouldnt be mad if it was handheld. All of their handheld games have been phenomenal so far, which cant be said for their console games. They have some good console games, but some have been lacking. People who are usually pissed at handheld games are usually the ones who dont have said system.

Now, if its a cell phone game I will be irritated with that said. We usually dont get them AND they tend to be watered down.
 
Probably just another hand held spinoff for the DS/PSP.One of those.

Hmm.."0" refers to a void or nothingness... That's really intriguing. S-E has never produced that type of title before. Like you said, they usually put in fancy-sounding words, but this one's seriously bothering me.

Maybe this time, the player is allowed to create a character from absolute scratch, like some have said above.

...Or maybe, we're allowed to create numerous FF worlds. Your imagination just has to keep on rolling...
 
Whatever it is, I doubt we'll see it before the end of 2012, or mid 2013, if we're lucky. No doubt we're going to hear of it, and vague promises that are never fulfilled related to it, all next year, though.

Given Square Enix's recent incompetence when it comes to releasing playable video games, I'm going to remain indifferent until I see something that will convince me otherwise.
