GamesMaster UK has another tip from their Square Enix source, this time detailing some of the things gamers can expect from Final Fantasy XV. Although GamesMaster UK was initially wrong about the unveiling of FFXV at E3, they are adamant about the validity of their source.

Here's what the source had to say:

- Including the concept planning and pre-production phase, the game has already been in development for over 4 years.

- It entered full production in January 2010, a month after FFXIII was released in Japan. Since then it has had a development team of just over 200 people.

- The director is the same person who directed FFVI, FFIX and FFXII, Hiroyuki Ito.

- The co-director led a small part of the development team to make Tactics Ogre for the PSP in parallel with FFXV. He’s currently multi-tasking as lead UI designer of FFXIV 2.0 and co-director of FFXV.

- The game design and battle system will be a major evolution of FFXII.

- The game will be open world and have sprawling, crowd-filled cities on par with Assassin’s Creed.

- The battle system now allows you to target different parts of an enemy’s body like in Vagrant Story.

- Yoichi Wada (president of Square Enix) wants the game to have a world scale and volume of content that surpasses The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. He also wants the game to surpass FFVII in worldwide sales and critical reception.

- Will release on all major current gen platforms.

Open world Final Fantasy. It's like Square Enix has been reading my diary. Hopefully these rumors will end up being true, but I guess only time will tell.

Almost too good to be true-sounding. But they sure as all hell better be making this and it better be damn good.

Also, if it's to be released on all major consoles... If it's not a PS3 exclusive, they'll be limited content-wise. They'll be forced to only make enough content to fit on 3 DVDs (for the Xbox 360's disc limitations) which will heavily impact the turnout of the game. But they might be able to figure it out.

If it is true - congrats to SE for keeping it under wraps for four years.

Honestly though? It sounds a little too good to be true. I remember reading a quote from someone at SE saying they're planning things out for XV but nothing has really been done yet, nor will anything be announced anytime soon. So I'm not sure what to think.

This is too good to be true.

I must awaken from my dream. This masterpeice is impossible.

If this is realy, then Good job SE for keeping it under wraps and (hopefully) making it good. This may just be the game that brings SE back into the ball park.

Pfft, I'll believe it when I see it. That description ticks almost all of my boxes, which has alarm bells ringing through my head immediately. After years of screw-ups, Square Enix sounding like they're going to do something right? Suuuuure. Plus, GamesMaster are the source. That's got to be one of the worst magazines for video games in this country. It's like...The Sun of video game magazines.

Besides, we all know Versus XIII is going to be FFXV

Hey bro thats disrespectful.. People are entitled to their opinions.. Besides whats the problem with an open world? WASNT THAT THE COMPLAINT AGAINST FINAL FANTASY XIII THAT IS WAS TOO LINEAR.. Just because it has an open world doesnt mean it will be WRPG... Look at final fantasy 6 it has an open world yet it is still story driven. Thats what they can do with ff XV. If the game is story driven it is STILL a JRPG.

This is a nightmare for me...I actually agree with Baseballbat Boy with this one when it comes to the open-world elements. They mean open-world like FF12 was open world right? Then I really couldn't think of anything worse. I just want field maps like those of pre-FF10. That's it.
Also: I hated the battle system from both FF12 and Vagrant Story. VS's battle system was extremely slow and fiddly...12's was slightly better. Hell, even the battle system from 13 was better than that.
I also can't stand deserts in games, and it's looking like they're gonna go down the FF12 route with filling almost the whole world with sand.

In all honestly, there's just one thing said there that didn't disappoint me about FF15: from the director of FF6 and 9. We can only hope that he has learnt from his mistakes after FF12...not that I hold out much hope.

I agree with everyone else. Sounds too good to be true. Though if its true, I will definitely be getting it. I loved FFVI, IX and XII, so I would have to get it. It would literally be made of all my favorite games and features. :x3:

Actually I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this is bollocks (no offence stevie). There's no chance in hell that Square could keep their next biggest game under their hats for 4 years. They can barely do it for a few months.

*Wishful thinking is the only way to tell myself that this horrible news is not real* :p

"We got it really wrong last time, but this time we're totally right! Trust us!"

The biggest alarm bell for me is...well, everything really. It's especially to do with Wada's desire for SIZE so massive and open-world that they want to take on the throne of Skyrim? And this is coming from a company that seemed to wither with fright at the thought of creating a proper HD city, so now they're allegedly prepared to generate a world that can come anywhere close to something like Skyrim? The same company that is so weighed down by inefficiency that they have admitted that they may need to OUTSOURCE more often to other studios for their large-scale developments?

If somehow and miraculously they can build on the FFXII model and the excellent Xenoblade model, then by all means, bring it on. This sounds more like my ideal game. Yet, let's get real here. This article has been ringing all sorts of alarm bells for me. There comes a point that my ability to suspend my disbelief fails me. Full production in 2010 as well? Ha! As if.

Yeah full production in 2010 killed it for me, it was believble somewhat until I read tht sentence lmao. They started versus full production in 2011. Blah I think its all bullshit. Even though it will still take them 2years at least in full production especially with this open world magnitude. Versus and this toe on toe will extend thr production time even more. Loooollll. Not to mention possible FFXIII-3 and all other upcoming side tracked shit they spew out their asses.

I think FFXV is secretly Versus XIII. Why else would they put this charade up and then later retitle the game altogether? I can smell it. I don't think they were keepin' this a secret too, they just pulled something out of their asses for publicity purposes.

Oh good Lord. It really is GamesMaster that's been the sole source of this rumour. This is the same magazine with a pretty poor track record when it comes to the rumour mill. And isn't it funny how it's always an anonymous source that is conveniently kept a secret, never to be found again so their validity can be scrutinised a little? And how something so big as this is disclosed to GamesMaster UK exclusively of all places? I can easily make these kind of "leaks". I can easily claim that the next Assassin's Creed will be a WW2-era FPS and they will still run it in their rumours section.

I expect this rumour to be absolutely false then, which is a damn shame. I would very willingly sacrifice the triumvirate of FFXIII-3, FFXIV and even Versus to the Gods in exchange for this. It will certainly get a lot of people's knickers in a twist though, considering the amount of hate that FFXII usually gets, and the rampant fear that a larger world may come at the cost of your typical in-your-face teenage angst sort of JRPG story.

I really hope that all this is true but atleast..Dont sacrifice the story and character development counterpart like they did in XII. If they could incorporate an immersive story, awsome characters with all those gameplay elements this would be most possibly the ultimate final fantasy.. And lets not forget to bring in Nobuo Uematsu :D

Well if this Rumour is to be believed then count me out at this moment in time. We haven't even had FFVXIII...we have a possibility on FFXIII-3 and bloody them making FFXIV work on PS3 as well as the FFX HD edition. I don't see how their teams could be managing with making a 15th instalment of their blockbuster franchise. If it is indeed true that congratulations to S-E but at the moment no I don't think so.

if this is true, I think it sounds good.

But I doubt it's true. Also fuck off and focus on FFXIII-versus :rage:

Im not buying that crap, not only is ridiculous that they have been hiding it for four years but all those things dont make sense, they couldnt have known the shit that FF XIII would be so thinking that they would do a game opposite to FF XIII doesnt seem probable.

Wada is a lying bastard.

I read from Novacrystallis' tweet (which is quite reliable) that this thing is fake. It's just bits and pieces of old information collected together.

If the game is like FFXII in terms of world & gameplay AND has a good story & character development, yes I agree, it will be a good candidate for the best FF game. However, these claims do not sound believable at all. I mean, who can seriously trust SE nowadays?
