When we discovered a trademark for Final Fantasy Type-0, we were expecting a new game. What it really is, is Final Fantasy Agito XIII on the PSP with a new name. And it’s coming soon…Summer 2011, to be precise.

Final Fantasy Type-0 will come on 2 UMDs. The game will have over 30 voiced characters, for whom Square Enix are recording dialogue. “Big name” voice actors will be employed for the roles. Director Hajime Tabata says Final Fantasy Type-0 will have a new system, a single player game with multiplayer features built with to create an original play style.

The game isn’t related to Final Fantasy XIII any more, and Square Enix hope to spin it off into its own series. This is probably why they also trademarked Final Fantasy Type-1, Type-2, And Type-3.

That's interesting. I'm going to guess we might get it around Christmas time, this year. (I'll put it on my wishlist and I won't have to buy it) Sounds definitely worth it. I really hope I get my PSP battery replacement in the mail soon, so I can actually use my PSP in the near future. -.- I'm also not very appreciative of having a mini-series over this... (So I have to buy more games)
 
So basically it is like a whole Agito series. I find that interesting that it isnt related to Final Fantasy XIII anymore. Also Final Fantasy Agito XIII is now type-o? I kinda expected it a little but the trade marks not so much as being other Agito games. But hopefully it will be interesting. Over 30 voiced characters sounds good. 2 umds is something I wasnt expecting. I dont think I know of a game with 2 UMDS for psp. This is a nice idea.

I'd be lying if I said I was too phased about the whole Agito being Type-0 thing, but 2 UMDs sounds like we'll be getting a good lengthly plot then, something I we haven't got since FFIX, so I'm pleased by this.

Honest to god, as long as the these "Big name" actors do voice acting well, I'm all for it. I was very impressed with the voice acting in FFXIII, and Ven's in BBS, all big names, however, Aqua and Terra's was disappointing, (though I admittedly didn't know either of the actors that played them, they were considered "Big names") so I hope that isn't a sign that SE will start slacking with VA standards.

I've been looking forward to Agito the most out of the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation, so I'm hoping it'll live up to my expectations.
 
Excellent! I have to admit that I'm disappointed Type-0 isn't an entirely new game, but that it's the name of a game I was somewhat interested in that was part of the abysmal XIII compilation beforehand pleases me.

I'm not sure about this "big name" voice actor thing, though...as much as I'd like another SE game with GOOD voice acting - XII being the only good one thus far in my opinion - I'd prefer them not to just drag in every single anime VA that is used in every other damn game for it. If I see rival characters voiced by Crispin Freeman and Johnny Yong Bosch/Yuri Lowenthal, I will go insane. I'd like to see them in the game, but not in the roles they're always cast for...I'd like a little originality. Although if they get Liam O'Brien in for the main villain, that'd be terrific~
 
Now I'm a bit more interested since it isnt part of XII anymore. I guess it must be a good game with 2umds. I'm looking forward to more info as I was interested very much in the story. The gameplay and the reaction it gives will decide if I buy this. ^^
 
This game only looks better and better..damn handheld..it sucks so much I wont be able to play...maybe I'll buy a secondhanded PSP just for Agito. The game seems so interesting.

To be honest I prefer the name Agito to Type-0, but I guess the name doesn't really matter. I do find it interesting that SE felt the need to remove any potential affiliation to the XIII series despite the fact that there was little connection between the titles to begin with.

I'm glad that we now have a bit of an idea as to when it will be released. I've been keen to learn more about this game since I first heard it would be available on the PSP. Also I think the 2 UMD thing is interesting.
 
Now this is just...stupid? What was wrong with the Agito name? I rather liked having that bit of Latin floating in there. Changing it to Type-0 now is just odd. Why begin with a zero, unless there's some convoluted explanation in there somewhere? The next thing that I find even more stupid is the need to create yet another possible compilation of spin-off games.

I disagree with that. I think the trademarks of 1, 2 and 3 are just prematurely done to gain rights to them early on in case they do decide to make more games in this new "Type" series. It all makes sense now, especially on a business level, other than the starting at zero thing.

my god, take a chill pill. Its the SAME game with a different name. Do you even like SE or any of the games they put out if something this small sets you off?


Basically from everything we knew about it before, Agito (starting out as a cell phone game) has changed into a different beast altogether, which is why Im guessing they considered a name change. Id say this is more directed at the Monster Hunter crowd, except with alot more focus placed on narrative.

Im for and against that in a way. I love the whole concept. The story will most likely be great and I love co-op multiplayer like this. Reason why Im against? I dont know alot of people with PSP's to play this with so thats my only reason why Im down on a multiplayer somewhat
 
Personally, I'm glad it now has nothing to do with FFXIII. However, I wish they had picked a better name. I feel as if I should be expecting all of the characters to fight in mechs now.

Final Fantasy Mech Warrior Zone of the Enders Armored Core?

I would play that anyway. Shit sounds amazing. Throw some Shadow of the Colossus up in that and it's GOTYAY.
 
:hmmm: I wonder why they took it away from being a FNC title. Eventually it got so big it had to be its own game.. or... summat. Either way I'm intrigued, and quite frankly shocked that they are bothering to put it on two UMD's if it's such a big game. I'm surprised they didn't just leave it as DLC for the PSPGo to try and boost sales for that.
 
This sounds more worse than agito(which sounded bad as it was)..........What the fuck because of this I doubt they'll ever go back into naming titles numerically (taught me roman numericals better than school :wacky:).

FFI,FFII,FFIII etc etc.........are known as the mainstream FF titles :hmph: If you ask me it makes versus sound inferior even here as well, it has a shitty sub-forum(just like side-titles like Crisis core,FF Tactics,Revenant Wing etc).
 
Hopefully one of the reasons why there's going to be 2 UMDs is because the game/plot will be long. That would be super awesome. It's gonna suck when I get to school though, this looks like a game I'll have a hard time putting down. Haha. Can't wait for this, and hopefully this plot will be great!
