Guinness gives Greatest Video Game Ending record to CoD: Black Ops

It’s official. Call of Duty: Black Ops has the best ending of any video game, ever.

The list was generated through polling, with 13,519 “gaming fans” giving their opinions for the record. How could so many people be wrong, amirite?
“Everyone has an opinion on how to end a game whether it’s an epic boss fight, a clever plot twist or a 90-minute movie. This list recognises some of the greatest endings and hopefully will get gamers talking about what are their favourites and why,” Guinness World Records 2012 Gamer’s Edition editor Gaz Deaves said.

I'm sorry, did the poll voters not play to the end? It's so generic and...just underwhelming. I guess it's just because it's a popular game, but still...some people need to read the poll questions before choosing the wrong game.

Bah, they might as well not have even had a poll if it's just gonna be so throw away like this one...

Got to wonder what would constitute as the ending for Heavy Rain. You can't really vote for a single ending, or it would ignore all the others. If they were voting for every ending put together for the game, shouldn't it be higher on the list for such variety and for tieing the story together so well at the end? Got to wonder...
 
This is such an objective and fairly measurable way of determining a world record. Mhm.
 
It's a public vote so of course the most popular games will win

Though it is massive shame that Dragonmancers of Inkanthoraru XIV: The Coming of the Zorax King did not winaru, it is clearly the best game of all time. It was only released for 6 hours in North Korea, typical Westerners don't understand gaming and story aru!!!!!!!

Things will be different when I move to japan, they'll really understand me there desu~

I'm pretty sure that MGS3's ending was way better than the first one. Also, why is Super Mario Bros. so high on the list? Isn't the ending only something like, "You have found Princess Peach! Congratulations!" I'm thinking that in this case rather than people voting for the ending to the game's story, they are voting on the game that's ending made them feel the best?

The original Super Mario Bros. was a hard game, and I'd be ecstatic, too if I made it to the end.
 
I mean if Halo Reach is on there, then you know it's biased. Xenogears and FFVII had better endings than most of those games. What a crock.

Contra isn't on there either? N64 Zelda not on there? What's going on here... :ahmed:

Also, Reach should be on there, and probably higher than blops. Also, no FFVIII OR FFIX????? What kind of bullshit these people trying to run, here? :gasp:

I love when CoD wins game awards and such. Everyone gets so outraged and upset about it.

While obviously i disagree with the list il give blops its dues in that i thought the campaign was absolutely brilliant. Flying out windows and cruising on a hovercraft whilst the rolling stones 'sympathy for the devil' played was pretty awesome. The ending was exciting, so yeah.

What conor said about popular games winning is completely correct. All these kinda awards are the same. The thing with the most fans wins and since CoD outsells every other game its not surprising to see it come out on top.

Personally metal gear solid would probably be top of my list but meh. I dont care.

what the.... how can this be the best ending... where the hell is FFIX, FFX. this list just plain fails simple as... :rage:
 
Every thread in the games section is just an article copy and pasted from IGN or someone like that.

I haven't played maybe 89% of these games so I don't have much of an input.. But still I'd say that Portal 2 had a better ending than 1.. Mario (all three on the list?) have no sense of an ending other than "Yay, you win. Go home with the Princess and sex."

Like that OoT and VII are on there.. surprised no other FF is though. :hmmm:
 
Stupid. Final Fantasy IX should be on the list, that ending was amazing and oooohh the chills ! :gasp:
It was more of a popularity contest imo.
 
I actually make a effort sorting out the news and providing fff members with game news. I take time to look for them.
