"Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, Square Enix producer/artist Tetsuya Nomura, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada and Metal Gear art director Yoji Shinkawa had dinner earlier today.

What did they talk about?

According to Kojima, they talked about a Final Fantasy VII remake! After Kojima Tweeted that he was in a dinner meeting with the three, a follower asked that he tell Nomura to remake FFVII. "I passed it along," replied Kojima.

He was probably joking. Or was he?

Other things Kojima said he passed along are "Hurry up and release Kingdom Hearts 3D," "I know it's tough for Square Enix, but you can do it!" and "Tell Wada I'm waiting for Seiken Densetsu/Secret of Mana 5." Kojima did not pass along the message "I'm looking forward to the new Zelda game" that someone for some reason asked him to mention.

Kojima passed along one message without his followers' suggestion: he told Tetsuya Nomura to get a Twitter account.

While the actual topics of conversation during the meeting are probably secret (they may have just been having a friendly dinner -- it happens sometimes), we do know what was on the menu. According to Yoichi Wada's Twitter, two people had cola while two people had alcohol."

What do we make of this? Well, it shows that even the head honchos of other companies are wanting a FFVII remake.. or at least, wanting to see what Nomura could make it of.

Hideo Kojima's a joker. I wouldn't take this very seriously.

I read about this the other day.

He knows it would make them loads of money, especially with the LTD, so maybe they should do it if they just want the crazy mountains of cash. But if they don't and want to keep what is good of FF7, they won't hurry and remake it.

[19/05] Nomura tells Kojima to "Fuck off and make a decent game"

:mokken:

Even if he's not joking, I think those of us who aren't rabid FFVII fans are absolutely sick to death of hearing about the possibility of a crappy remake at this point.

Employees in the gaming industry chatting about video games? Why I never :wacky:

Agreeing with @AddleBoy that Kojima is just joking, or at the very least a random convo doesn't mean anything (although in all honestly, I always assumed Nomura would have a large role in a FFVII remake, if only because he's one of the few remaining core FFVII staff still within S-E).

On a related note, I'm waiting for a Kojima/Nomura collaboration of some sort.

Eh I have said it for years and I will always say this.....A remake would rock, no doubt. Its not even my favorite Final fantasy but its my first pick for remake. If you remade 6 or below than you would have a larger chance of variation form the originol game. I say Remake 7 because its the first PS1 game with locations and characters defined by the appearance of 3D and a good story to boot.

Yet it probably just all nonsense anyway, do not get your hopes up.

lol I wouldnt classify this as news either...more rumour-like...Like Nomura and Wada dont already know everyone is waiting for the remake that probably will never come..

FFVII remake might be good but no thnX
they milked VII Dry in my opinion

i'd rather have a FFVIII Or IX Remake

Great another fricken remake talk...

I'm going say 3 things about this

1. Don't think Square-Enix will make it just cause someone else tells them to (remember when best buy believed that FFVII was going be remade? :wacky: )

2. Wont believe it till Square-Enix says it officially/

3. Square MAKE THE GAME SO THE FFVII FAN BOYS WILL SHUT UP ABOUT A FRICKEN REMAKE!

:rage:

geez, he was probably joking, the rat basturd.:jtc:

And I thought it was going to be like this:

Kojima: "remake vii, man"
Nomura: "Well... I AM busy with NOT creating KHIII so I don't know."
Kojima: :brooding:
Nomura: "Fine." :mokken:

...but it didn't. :sorry:

Hell, even as much as I hate FFVII, I hate all the shittier games that SE has been churning out the past 10+ years more. At least with a remake of FFVII we'll get something a quarter of the way decent. :ffs:

Then maybe, just maybe, SE will go back to being a good developer.

Probably not... but one can dream. :sad3:

As much as I love Andriasang and its other gaming news blog cousins, the friendly conversation between two well-known figureheads in the Japanese gaming industry over dinner with FFVII as a topic (face it, if you were having dinner with Tetsuya Nomura, you are more likely to raise that as a topic than Nomura himself) and a message that may or may not have been passed to Nomura hardly constitutes as news. Is the entire internet this excited for a FFVII remake that anything can be twisted to look like a potential update bringing the remake closer and closer to reality? :mokken:

Make it or not, I've totally lost interest a while ago anyway. They thrive on constant teasing while their newest projects haven't exactly been the epitomes of greatness. I'm sure remaking it would cause profits to skyrocket, so I can't see them ruling it out and with FFXIV being nothing short of a commercial disaster, sure - why not? Appease the fans' demands (for once!) and as long as Versus finally comes out, I'm not too fussed what you do.

No matter what I think of a VII remake.. all I can say is that this is not news at all. Sure they had dinner together but and Kojima passed on the message for a VII remake to Nomura.. Does it mean he is going to make it? NO!. I really think this is a shame that Andriasang covered this because it is not news at all. These are just my thoughts though. VII remake probably wont happen. SE already said it would take awhile to make. These little hints happen, yes... but a dinner with two great Japanese video game developers is nice.. but it isn't anywhere near news.

???

Really?

Does Hideo Kojima even have any "formal relationship" with the guys over at SquareEnix? I kinda wonder if the story has any validity.

Even so,

SquareEnix really does need a kick in the nuts to get the ball rolling on a remake of FFVII. Most FFVII fans have been screaming for a PS3 remake since the PS3 came out(remember the Technical Demo from E3 all those years ago?)

With all the money and manpower that SquareEnix has they definitely could be able to pull off a FFVII remake, but maybe they are just too lazy to actually do it.

I think this was no more than Hideo passing along a message, it wasnt even his message:srsly:

If gaining the support of game developers is an effective way off getting this thing done then Im all for it, but if its just these dudes playing at being celebrities and we are there hangers on?

No thanx, Ill stick with my pixels aand 1997 quality graphics.

DO it coz its what the fans want and dont fuck around!!

If they did remake Final Fantasy VII, they'd almost definitely end up making it worse than the original, by most likely dumbing it down and not adding, but removing content. They'd just turn it into another FFXIII-type outcome.

I don't blame him for passing a message along......But the title really shouldn't be "Kojima tells Nomura to remake VII" it's more Kojima's follwer on twitter: a hardcore FFVII fan tells Nomura to remake FFVII. :wacky:

And its not like SE havent had FFVII fans beg for a remake before.......

Oh please Square do not remake the most over rated game of all time before you remake the ones that are actually good. I know what you can do, remake Crisis Core for the PS3 because story and character wise it's about a thousand times better than the original game anyway.

Or better yet leave Final Fantasy 7 alone (finally) and milk Final Fantasy 8 and 9, or finally make the new fucking Chrono Game I've waited 10 years for. You know I know it's hard for you to understand the concept of GOOD anymore Square, but really.

Anyway, it does seem like yet ANOTHER rumor.
