[1/18] A Blurry Look At Final Fantasy XIII-2 And Lightning’s New Rival [Update]

I LOVE Lightning's new outfit! Maybe I'm in the minority on this, but I like how they've accentuated her femininity and strength with this Valkyrie-like look. Which isn't to say she didn't embody those traits in XIII -- they're just emphasizing them more in XIII-2.

And for those worrying about the shorter development cycle, keep in mind that they're most likely re-using a number of assets from XIII on XIII-2, and since there (hopefully) won't be a delay due to them taking longer with the 360 version, I'm not worried too much. BioWare typically turns around incredible RPGs in 2-year development windows, as they're doing with Mass Effect 3. So it's not unusual, nor does it signal the death knell for this game. Everyone calm down.

Despite the clunky armour look, the woman still forgets to put on pants. Or still has time for a gratuitus ass shot.

I'm not a huge fan of the armour, but I'm not knocking it either, it's a neat change.. hopefully for the better.

The downside is, I just don't like the general look of the armour. I'm too used to Lightning's regular outfit. However I can perhaps guess a reason as to why she needs an armour. With

Please say you've been actually listening to the players this time, though with this unusually narrow development window, I do have to doubt whether or not they can change much of it, or whether this will just be like the first FFXIII with a new look.

I'm all for giving things a chance, but I'm going to need more than bullshit claims. There was a lot of big talk before FFXIII was released, and look how THAT turned out. The time has long past, for me at least, where Square Enix can just say something about one of their games and I'll automatically believe them.

It's just the feathers I'm curious about. It may not be all that mystical though-maybe she went and hunted herself some winged creature and wore the feathers, like how Vanille and Fang had fur on their outfits too from hunting creature?

FFXIII wasn't shit........I wouldn't even say it's gonna be better than FFXIII. FFXIII took 6 years to develop (much longer than this is gonna take)! and they've decided to make a sequel based on fan reaction (even though it was bad).

This game is either gonna be shitter or just as good (which is fine by me as I loved FFXIII )

SE are renowened for fucking up on sequels..........not saying FFXIII-2 gonna shit but at the least be as good as XIII. (without the linearity and gameplay).......They'll probably fuck up the story and characters. (But at least Lights not a whore more of a spartan soldier )

Reading some of the extremely negative opinions on here saddens me, though... Not cuz anyone is right or wrong, and everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I just hope the negativity doesn't dampen my optimism for the game and enthusiasm for its eventual release.

worst FF score BECAUSE the people who develop these games are japanese......the japanese response to the game was much better to that of the western reviews definately not rated as the worst in the series or anywhere near.

And I'm sure FFXIII is not entirly to blame for spillting the fan-base in half.......FF's fan-base started to decline after X,so most people playing this was new (and you can't expect CoD players to like an RPG game except some maybe but wont be familier with it and would dislike it).

The story was told.......well probably not brilliantly but if you do pay 100% attention which I doubt you was, then from cutscenes alone you can know whats happening without referring to the datalog.

The battle system may have been shit but if you enjoy the story and visuals which for me did compensate for it you should enjoy the game as whole.

The fact of the matter is, that you don't have to. That damned encyclopedia explains everything to you in full detail. Only thing is, that sucks as well. It's like picking the lesser of two evils. Anywaaaaays, if this is Lightning's new look for FFXIII-2, I am loving the new look. It makes her look really strong and really shows her character. If she's getting a rival, I'm getting all kinds of thoughts about one on one duels. We didn't really see that in FFXIII and it would be really fun with the Paradigm system. Possibly with another L'cie so there can just be all sorts of Paradigm Shifts for a really fun and chaotic battle. I'm already excited about this. I hope they make this a rival worthy of Lightning's character. A strong, mouthy kinda opponent that can really push Lightning's buttons, yet follow up with actions.
